Il Terra Di Agea
CLASSIFIED TO NON-MEMBERS Progressive European Peace Treaty Organization (PEPTO) Preamble: Europe has always held a place of glorious peace, and devastating wars. The truth of the matter is that aggressors form from the heralds of peace, and vice versa. The undersigned nations are dedicated by blood and honor, to protect each other, and Europe from the death and destruction that too often sits at our doorstep. Furthermore, we are dedicated to the prospect that the Nations of Europe should never need to raise arms against each other, but rather, be able to come together, and, in our times of need, work to halt violence, rather than continue it. Article 1-Non Aggression: The signatories of this pact agree to never fight among each other. To maintain peace, we must never lay arms upon each other. Article 2-Optional Defense: In the case that any signatory is to be attacked, Signatories may choose for themselves whether or not they wish to take up arms in defense of their Fellow members. The point of this treaty is not to perpetuate war, only to help create a better life for our collective people. Article 3-Trade: While we stand United, we pledge to abolish tariffs and closure of ports to our fellow signatories. We also pledge to aid each other in production of goods, and lower all prices of goods that are sold within our great nations to ensure that both the nations and their people may live and prosper. Article 4-Voting and New Members: All Signatories are eligible to vote on any proposition put forward, whether in times of war or peace. Any vote put forth has a limit of five days to be voted upon, at which point any measure requires 60% of the vote to pass. Any nation that wishes to join must pass a standard vote. Article 5- Withdrawal and Expulsion: If a nation wishes to abandon this pact, a 72hr notice and a sufficient reason are to be given. If a nation commits a vile act detrimental to Europe while within our ranks, or proves to be unsuitable to act as a member, a vote shall be placed to decide on their expulsion. Votes on expulsion can be raised at any time. Article 6- Intelligence Sharing The signatories of this pact agree to share and proliferate any found intelligence should it be pertinent to that member nation's national security. Regardless of the nature of this breach, all signatory nations will divulge the information. (Passed Jan 04, 2010) Article 7- Protectorates We are the people of Europe. Europe is a proud continent with millenia of history, reaching back to the great civilizations of Greece and Rome. Our Europe is our jewel, our home. Those who live in and originate from Europe are Europeans, and thus, Europe is our home. Our home should be open to those who wish to reside and take shelter from the storms of tumultuous politics abound in the world, but not those who want to raid, pillage, and plunder it for their own profit. Europe is for Europeans. Any non-European power holding land in Europe should be driven out, just as burglars, thieves, and rats should be driven out of our earthly dwellings. We should not venture far outside our home, monsters exist far and near, threatening our livelihoods and well-being. Our belief is simple and yet strong, Europe is our home, and Europe is for Europeans. Sabioviejo
Kyivan Rus´ votes abstain at the time. Besides PEPTO & our friends in Belarus we don´t have a real FA network yet and so we don't know GDR well enough to vote in this matter. maicke
"As Valencia is already allied to Scotland (Iberian pact, right? I could be wrong), we feel that they must be trustworthy. Norway votes yes." OOC: No, unfortunately I'm not. As per the Iberian treaty (or at least the new one that is about to be passed) the nation of each member becomes Iberian protectorate land if the person leaves RP. However, since Carthage (Sargun) gave me his protectorate land, I already agreed to give it back to him if I ever leave (probably never :3). And I'm not one for breaking promises, so I cant promise two different people my land. D= Although if it weren't for that, I'd apply for the Iberian Pact. EDIT: putting in IC IC: Sorry, Valencia is unfortunately not a part of the Iberian Pact at this time, due to possible conflicting promises with the proposed Article IX. Kaiser Martens
Germany sends a message with low expectations. The Regent has expressed an interest in making cooperation with Europe better, and would like to know if it would be possible for the Nation to be able to be a part of PEPTO excepting for Article 3 (Trade), due to the fact that it would otherwise completely shatter Germany's mostly self-contained economy. They didn't think they'd let Germany in even if it did go with that article, anyway, but it was worth a try.

comrade nikonov
The Revolutionary Socialist Syndicate of the Netherlands only recently invaded Lubeck with no casus belli, in a blatant act of imperialist aggression. This treaty is for peaceful nations seeking a better future, not war-mongers. The current government of the RSSN is thus against the founding spirit of PEPTO, and thus, until a new more responsible government is put in power, the Union of Belarus and Moldova will vote No.

And don't you !@#$@#$ dare put words in my mouth. The RSSN is not against peace. I campaigned for peace. I campaigned on a platform for peace. I do not understand why signing a non-aggression pact with the entirety of Europe is not enough for you. It was enough for you to allow the German Democratic Republic in, even though they attacked Germany in a manner entirely unprovoked. Apparently consistency is not something that you consider a part of your founding philosophy, rather hypocrisy is. OOC: Seriously, I have no idea. My government is not the same. My government is not against peace. My government has a non-aggression pact with all of Europe. My government apologized for the invasion of Lubeck. The war is over. This makes no IC sense and is blatantly hypocritical.
