The White Cross

World participation for the White Cross had turned out ten times better than Sarah had ever hoped for. At least twenty nations in the world, many extremely wealthy ones had taking the cause of humanitarianism upon themselves to speed up the rebuilding of the world from the recent disasters and more so the other disasters that surely awaited the people of the world. Sitting in her office early one morning, daily reports continued to file in of the various talks of rebuilding from the nuclear attacks and from the declaration of cease fire in Tahoe and Dragonisia. But the aid was not moving anywhere and there were still millions of people that required the world's help, along with the leaders of those various countries. Taking out a piece of stationary and a pen, it was time to call and combine the coffers of the world and truly begin this great project she had set out to accomplish.

Dear Leaders of the World and Signatories of the White Cross Declaration,

We have done much work to begin to rise to the call of humanitarianism, but that is only the beginning of a long journey that we must take. Now it is time to live up to the promises that we have decided to make. I ask you signatories to come to Brisbane and nations that desire our aid, to plead your case and declare your vote so that the suffering of the world may be alleviated now and not later. The meeting will be held in the Union Convention Center in our Cultural District, until the time may arise to create a station to permanently house our idea. Please come as soon as possible and we may begin to set in motion our plans for foreign aid and service.

Sincerely,

Sarah Tintagyl

Prime Minister of the Hanseatic Republic

OOC: The meeting will not start until tomorrow so everyone can arrive, but for those of your arriving...

IC: A section of Brisbane airport was closed for the arrival of the various foreign leaders and their entourages. Limousines were provided to take the leaders from the airport to the cultural district and Hanseatic marines were dispatched to personally escort each leader. Safety was the highest precaution as these leaders were doing so much for the world and for anything to happen to them would be a horrible cost of wasted life.

When they would arrive in the Convention Center a long hall of marble floors and gilded walls led the leaders to a central council room that had been erected just for his event. The nation's flags were posted above their seats and a range of food and drinks were available when they arrived. Sarah waited at the doors of the Council Room to personally greet every guest, it was the least she could do for them helping to make her dreams come true.

An ambassador for Andonia swirled out of the shadows, giving the limo driver a dreadful fright. The shrouded man pulled open the door, presenting a letter to the limo driver.

I am afraid I will be unable to attend this meeting, but I will send an Ambassador to relay what occurs to me. Your organisation will be remembered as one of the greatest forces for good in history.

Signed

Cardith Lorda, Lord of the Remnant

A motorcade of humvees and an armoured limousine carrying our prime minister General Abigail Johns will arrive on the morning of the conference. We have the luxury of travelling by car from Olympia (OOC: RL; Toowoomba) since it is too short of a trip to justify the expense of a plane.

Minister of External Affairs Celso Amorim, accompanied by two senior diplomats made their way to Brisbane through a private jet. As they arrived at the airport, they picked up their negligible baggage and left the building. They made use of a limousine generously provided by the Hanseatic Republic in order to reach the Convention Center.

An airliner, bearing the Byzantine flag, descended upon Brisbane airport. Two certain figures with a certain German Shepherd dog appeared. Making their way toward a limousine that was generously provided by the Second Hanseatic Republic, Jed and Aaron Constantine grinned as they greeted Hanseatic officials. The limo then transported them to the Convention Center.

A GLS government jet liner landed on the runways in the Brisbane airport. Two people stepped out of the airplane, GLS President Jake and Shan Rorger. They made their way toward a limo that was provided by the Second Hanseatic Republic while smiling as they greeted the Hanseatic officals. They were then transported to the Convention Center.

The Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Peter Milliken, would attend together with 2 other diplomats, reaching Brisbane by the use of a supersonic transport plane.

Using the limousines provided by the Hansa, they'd travel from there to the meeting.

Seamus Muldoon, chairman of the Order of St. Patrick, rode in his limo to the Convention Center. Arriving there, he entered and grasped Sarahs hand warmly.

"Young lady, it is a pleasure to meet you. President DeSchaine sends his regards, and his apologies for not being able to be here in person. I do hope we can accomplish things here today."

He moved to the seat under the Taeunas flag and sat down.

"It is not a problem at all Mr. Muldoon, but please when you return to Dublin sent President DeSchaine my warmest regards." She watched as more an more diplomats and leaders fill into the Convention Hall. With this rate of people, she did have high hopes that a great amount would be accomplished by the leaders gathered here today.

It wasn't the President that would be attending this meeting, but rather, one Mr. Anthony Harlem. The President had actually told him, in no uncertain terms, that he needed to get out more, so here he was. In truth, he was curious to see how those sent to this conference would react to his appearance, an uncanny resemblance of Baron Uberstein. Even his voice would contribute to the illusion, and the only thing that would let people know it wasn't the old bBaron was the black hair.

As he stepped out of the limo, he briefly gazed around at what Brisbane had become, before entering and moving up the hallway toward what could only be the meeting room.

Upon being greeted by the Prime Minister, he smiled, one of the few genuine smiles he'd given anyone since--he deliberately turned his mind away from that line of thought.

"Miss Tintagyl, it's so nice to see you again." Then he added, more quietly, "I do hope the nation of Rebel Army is on the agenda. I just remembered how they've been neglected by most of the community."

"Likewise Mr. Harlem, always a pleasure. Its good to see you again, its been far too long. I hope that on my visit to Perth, His Excellency Subtleknifewielder gave you my best." She took his shoulder and pulled him close. "As for the Rebel Army they are one of the first nations we will be talking about, but your concern is extremely appreciated as always. It is good to see leaders so dedicated for this cause."

He nodded, the smile still in place. "Yes," he replied simply. "Yes, it is..."

Princess Juli flew in from Sarnunga International, her boyfriend (and best friend) Erik Betrakte attached firmly to her arm. She was grinning like a schoolgirl again, heading to the White Cross meeting. She was finally fully recovered from her "accident" in Africa and the "accidental explosion" in Vaule, both incidents now months in the past. Her body was whole as was her mind, and she wanted to do something good for the world. Hayley finally let her out of the Palace, finally let Erik touch her, and finally got to go to friggin Australia.

Life was good.

"Sarah!" Juli didn't really know her, but she called everyone her age by their first name. It seemed appropriate. Erik stood there and smiled sheepishly.

ooc: vince gave permission, yay

A lull in tensions, and delegation to more qualified individuals allowed Brian Ellis to attend personally. He arrived in a personal helicopter, along with the appropriations minister and an aide. The people gathered were diverse in their origins, and he felt pride welling in his chest to be a part of such a great thing.

OOC: The Meeting has begun, but you can still RP your arrival if you haven't yet...and vote. I'd like to have all countries represented

Sarah smiled at the young girl running up to her, she had only heard about the Princess of the Western Republic in news and in papers, but she seemed to have energy overbearing anything Sarah could produce. Slowly bowing her head Sarah looked at the girl. "Your Majesty, it is a pleasure for you to arrive. In fact the meeting is about to start, if you would be so kind as to take your seat." Juli nodded and her boyfriend who Sarah had met in Helsinki, they had played guitar together on one cold January night, but she still remember it and gave a rock sign to Erik casually as he walked by.

After many of the leaders had taken their seats, Sarah walked down towards the center of the conference hall. Taking her place underneath the Hanseatic flag she pounded a small gavel and called the meeting to order.

"Leaders and observers of the White Cross. This is our first meeting as a sovereign group with a mission that is nowhere near easy enough to be accomplished by one nation alone. Our goal here is simple, the world is descending into chaos and it is our duty as responsible heads of state to save the men, women, and children of these states from suffering. Due to the recent nuclear war in Europe and the short lived war in Asia and North America. Thousands of people are with out homes, some are with out food and water and many other life necessities. But we have the riches of the world at our feet, many of you are ancient nations with monetary reserves in the billions. You signed into this order because you believed that this money could be put to good use and now it is time to begin to distribute this wealth."

She looked around at the leaders, many who had come from the deserving countries. "Now, I have not been as responsible in keeping up with current events as I should, but I know many of you here are going through problems in your own country that could use immediate aid. Therefore I would like to pose the first vote for aid to the following countries: Rebel Army, The Imperial Union, Dragonisia, the United Francoist Empire, the Tahoe Republic, Alvonia, the Dutch Republic, The Greater German Empire, and the Mariehamm Arms company. Naturally we will vote and if anyone has problems with these countries we will tackle the problems piece by piece if they are deserving of aid for civilian centers." Sarah rose to her feet. "Ladies and Gentlemen? Your votes?"

Erik flashed Sarah a rock sign, and Juli instantly bopped him on the head (jokingly, of course).

---

As they sat waiting for Sarah to finish, they both ran the nations through their heads. Why should we give to them? They asked themselves mentally every question what could be asked, including the word "deserving" many times. Finally, after talking to themselves, they both stood up.

"We vote yes to all. Whether a nation was ruined in aggressive or defensive action should not matter. The unintended victims are still victims, no matter whos flag they may live under."

Dranagg already is providing aid, mostly in the form of water, fish, and clothing, to any nation that asks. We also are accepting refugees to live near the Port to assist in the work, and to be safe from the radiation.

So Dranagg votes 'Aye' to the distribution of aid by the white cross.

We vote "yes" for all countries - albeit some should have some preference over the other - from Alvonia and Rebel Army, nations that currently have much of their lands contaminated by radiations to Dragonisia, who thankfully, was not one of the victims of the nuclear holocaust...

Regardless, those in pain and need must be assisted independent of where they may be.

EDIT: We will also note that we are already providing aid to the UFE and Tahoe through our own means.
