The North Italy situation

Recommended Posts

With the end of a possible conflict with Pax Pacis the fleets quickly returned back to the Mediterranean however rather than going back to the Croatian Naval bases it divided into 2 taskforces each approaching one side of the Northern Italian coastline, once set up their goal would become obvious as it was stopping just at the borders of territorial waters where no party could force them to leave. Their goal blocking all trade with North Italy.

Group East:

1 Aircraft Carrier

2 Destroyers

2 Submarines

2 Battleships

2 Cruisers

Group West:

2 Aircraft Carriers

3 Destroyers

3 Submarines

2 Battleships

3 Cruisers

Due to the lack of any change or result from using conventional sanctions the situation in North Italy has worsened to the point the only option next to war is a full blockade, as such as of Tuesday the 28th of July 20:00 all naval traffic to North Italy will be blocked. This blockade will remain in effect until independent elections monitored by a neutral 3rd party have put in place a new government.

Bearing the name "Serenissima" ("Most Serene", like the Republic of Venice) and wearing national flags, the new venetian Showboat reached its destination near the blockade at 20.00, after a long trek from its birthplace in Venice. Approximately 50 members of Venice town's orchestra announced the boat's arrival playing a song of the regime infront of the croatian fleet "Blockade this!" someone said in a megaphone. The band began to play the song immediatly afterward.

"If you look at the sea from the hills

Young Italian slave amongst slaves

Like in a dream you will see many ships

And a tricolour waving for you"

We wonder if this blockade is necessary, as it is effectively an act of war.

This criminal regime has conducted too many acts and it is the last real trace of Nordland in Europe, it would be inhumane to let the people of North Italy suffer any longer under this lunatic.

Allied ships were given the frequencies to contact Naval Command in Split and the Flagship should they need to contact them.

"While Viniland condemns the actions of the Italian Republic against its own citizens, we also condemn the blockade being carried out by Greater Croatia and Euzkadi, which not only is highly politically and ideologically charged, they also seem to not realize that interrupting trade will only cause more plight to the Italian population as a whole, while strengthening the resolve of the current government as citizens will be compelled to turn to it as goods become scarce.

If the blockade persists, Vinilandese corporations will file suits against the blockading nations due to the forced cessation of trade and loss of profit."

But wouldn't a blockade make things more worse, like Viniland has pointed out?

Corporations are welcome to file their suits with the Supreme Court of Greater Croatia however the blockade will remain in effect.

That is what we were thinking. Anyways Transvaal shall continue to trade with Italy and ignore the blockade as we are a neutral nation that views itself outside the intra-affairs of the European powers.

While some may be unwilling to make the hard decisions needed to ensure the long term freedom of the people in Northern Italy we in Euzkadi are not, to take no action whatsoever is far worse in our view and is tantamount to condoning the actions of a brutal dictatorship.

The same will go for the Republic of the United Netherlands that will continue to trade with Italy even-though we are a European country (and a non-CEU member). As a repercussion for this aggressive action by two CEU-memberstates the Republic of the United Netherlands will not start accession talks with the CEU for the time being regardless of the outcome of the July 30-referendum.

Expect mayor shipping companies to file lawsuits when they are being stopped by your navies.

While we respect the right of nations to continue trading with the Borghese dictatorship we find it surprising that the nations in opposition to the actions of Croatia and ourselves have not taken the time to condemn the cold blooded murder of 320 protestors in Milan, we find it disturbing that such nations find it easy to turn a blind eye to such brutality.

Welcome to the cold hard fact of European Democracy: Until their nations are invaded, no one cares for the people. Molakia warned the World of Martens Rise to power. Molakia herself was lied to, as the GNR invaded Slavorussia under the guise of liberating their people. All they did was annex them into their empire. We made the mistake once of turning a blind eye to facism.

Never again.

Similar to Viniland they are welcome to file them with the Supreme Court.

Opinions from the streets of Milan

Stefano Laurenti, Construction Worker

"We have a normal life, we use to go out and stay late as long as we want. Security is very good, I can go alone and walk without fear of being kidnapped, clubs and resturant stay open very late. We enjoy both day and night life. Electricity is good, we never had a problem with water, there is work for everyone and the Government gives a lot of financial aid to low-class families. I don't care if i cannot vote as long Borghese helps the poor people and provides safety."

Alessandro Costa, Officer of the Republican National Guard (Gendarmerie)

"Oh the "free people" exporting democracy and freedom all over the world.. who the fu*BEEP* requested that! Borghese is not a criminal, he is doing what has to be done to prevent Italy from falling into anarchy again. He does not torture people, the soldiers are not going home to home randomly executing dissidents or torturing women and ederlies, what the hell? They think we fascist are all heartless beasts, they should mind their own business instead of enacting smearing campaign against us.. how do you think an army of 3000 strenght could mantain control over such a big territory? The people support him, the people are with him, i am with Borghese.. those anarchists in Milan were an exception to the rule. They were a danger and they had to be purged. "

Don Matteo Ghesizzi, Priest

"Life for religious people is better under Borghese. Now life is better for everybody, italians and immigrants. The Republican Military Government is offering everyone the same chances to work and build the country in the way it should be. Indeed we are proud of our culture and our identity but immigrants from all nations are welcome, there is no such thing as racial discrimination. Well yes you can argue he does not allow us to vote.. but we didn't request that."

Under the flag of the CEU the nation of Sverig supports the current blockade of North-Italy.

**Private to the CEU**

Though Sverige has no troops or ships in the region it will aid the present nations with monetary and organizational aid. Sverige will also offer troops to replace troops that are currently being concentrated on Italy, in, for example, the CEU protectorates.

Prime Minister Gustafsson: "This blockade is criminal. If your government used force to suppress a riot, does that justify me rounding up a navy and preventing any trade from happening? A government has the RIGHT to protect itself and keep it's people civil. I will continue to trade with the Repubblica Italiana, and any attempt to stop or sink my ships will be an act of war. Nobody made Croatia the European Police, mind your own business."
