At 300 Standard Time on the Eve of the Nation of Nod's 2nd decade anniversary of independence (OOC: My nation turns two months today!!!), 4 massive formations left the Nation of Nod's Borders. The first formation was a massive mechanized spear, that aimed for the Islamic States of Africa's Capital City...Its goal, to cut the head of the snake right off - the ISoA's political leadership Two airborne groups had been dropped, the mechanized spear aiming to meet them in the middle. The Airborne's goal would be to pre-emptively strike at the ISoA's brain - before the main forces arrived to the city - the country's most important statesmen and politicians. In this context the leaders of the opposition parties were regarded as equally important candidates for destruction as the leaders of the party in power. The opposition is simply the state's reserve brain, and it would be silly to destroy the main decision-making system without putting the reserve system out of action. By the same token the principal military leaders and police chiefs, various imams and mullahs, trade union leaders and any other people who might at a critical moment appeal to the ISoA and who are well known to the ISoA would be assassinated as well as their collective families... They would then secure the National Airport, allowing more and more reinforcements to arrive... Grim faced Elite Cadre and Heavy Infantry such as these spearheaded the main force's assault, backed by Devastators, Ravagers and Hunters The second force aimed to secure a part of the African Coastline for the NoN. It would be a relatively light force compared to the one aimed at the capital, but nevertheless be aided by a Devastator platoon. This secured port would become a valve to relieve pressure on the Nation of Nod's ever growing arms and technology export industry - relieving the strain on the NoN's heavy airlifter fleet... On lookers were startled in the early hours of the morning - looking up and seeing scenes like this throughout the skies... The last two forces would be purely defensive, a contingency plan incase Somal decided to invade the Nation of Nod under grounds of 'Aggression'. Entire Divisions of Defenders would be statically emplaced and would also patrol the NoN's rear and 'left flank'. Defenders undergoing the AH-DM to defend Addis Ababa's flank The Nation of Nod's leadership was unabashed by claims of excessive force against enemy defenders stating: 'We do not condone any enemy acts against our nation...The ISoA once aided our enemy, The Brotherhood of Nod, by allowing their forces to amphibiously assault our main capital through their lands...Had things been different, had they opposed this assault on our soverignity, we would not be doing this... Furthermore, we seek to liberate those Citizens of the ISoA - the majority of them, mind you - from the oppression imposed on them in the forms of Shar'ia Law the Islamic Leadership had put on the populace... We do not seek for this conflict to be inflamed by the global community, thus, active measures have been taken to ensure no other soverign nations be accidentally targeted by our forces - however, any foreign forces stationed in the area are advised to leave at once, or contact us immediately, lest you be destroyed...' The Executive Minister was clever - disguising this act of military expansion as one of justice, liberation and humbleness. He was fully aware of the situation in Europe, having most of the International attention being focused on the Hanseatic Commonwealth and its allies being ravaged by Visari's nuclear weapons. The EM counted on little to no global outcry... OOC: Ok dudes, I think you can tell what you're supposed to know and what your not from the way I worded this post, so I wont bother taggign anything Classified or not... This is me basically taking some of the ISoA's lands as Quest has gone inactive for 20+ days... I just wanted to fluff up this declaration first...I will integrate our Nation's mutual animosities into my Nations Historical RP later... Finally, the popular, long-running, Brotherhood-era television show, 'Today's Execution', brought an unlikely guest on stage... After the blurb announcing the show's start played, the citizens of the NoN noticed something different - instead of a cut showing the executee's crimes voiced over by the lovely Arianna Wright, the lady herself appeared on screen... "Good evening fellow citizens, this is Arianna Wright... Maicheq is off tonight, so I will be hosting 'Today's Execution'". "However, we will first be updating you on the current situation up North with our valiant brethren in their righteous struggle against the treacherous Islamic States of Africa..." The screen promptly cut to a view of the combat zones in the ISoA. "More and more of our forces have pushed deeper and deeper into the heart of the snake, sweeping aside all opposition. All attempts of resistance have time and time again been crushed by our steadfast soldiers efforts..." The screen cut to Arianna again, he closed her eyes and looked down, pausing...After a moment, she opened her eyes and looked back into the camera... "Yes, I know this is not new to all of you and that all of you are anxious to see today's chosen criminal pay for his crimes against the state - do not worry, you will all get to see today's execution soon enough..." "Today I bring good new to us all...after weeks of worrying ourselves sick over our comrades', brothers' and sons' collective safeties in the North, we have finally recieved the authority from the Executive Minister himself to show all of you, our dedicated viewers, a direct, live-feed straight from the battlezone..." The screen suddenly cut to General Michaelson, flanked by two armed Elite Cadre bodyguards. Behind him was a big screen depicting pictures of the flaming residences of President al-Wazari, the Opposition parties, the local mullah, various military bases and the Presidential Palace. "...THEY...THOUGHT...THEY...COULD...DEFEAT US!!! At the last word the General raised a triumphant fist... BUT HERE LIES THEIR PRECIOUS EDIFACES OF POWER! WE ARE UNITED! WE ARE STRONG! STRONGER THAN WE EVER WERE WITHIN THE CONFINES OF KANE'S DELUDED BROTHERHOOD OF NOD!!!!!" Loud cheers and fist pumping could be seen in the crowd of Heavy Infantry assembled before the stage. Silence quickly took over after the great General resumed his speech. The men looked in awe at the powerful figure before them. "I want you all to welcome a very special guest to our humble gathering..." With that, two more armed guards approached the General, each flanking President al-Wazari himself. Immediately jeers, shouts and boos echoed out from the leering crowd. Weeks of fighting had made the men angry - angry to be away from their homes, angry to be away from their wives, children and loved ones, angry to see their brothers fall and die in battle. In that moment, all that anger was concentrated on one man. General Michaelson drew out a large knife and held it to the deposed leader's throat... "KILL! KILL! KILL! KILL! KILL! KILL!" was all that could be heard from the frenzied crowd. All the tension the General caused by holding the blade to the man's carotid threw them into an enraged bloodlust... "IN ONE VOICE! WE DESTROY THE ENEMY... ONE VISION! ONE PURPOSE - BROTHERHOOD! UNITY! PEACE!!!!" As if on cue, the crowd chanted "PEACE THROUGH POWER!!! PEACE THROUGH POWER!!!" With a quick movement of his arm, the General killed the leader. His body fell, a limp rag on the stage floor. Over the sounds of a collective uproar, the General declared: "May this be one of many glorious victories for the Nation of Nod... may this be the fate of ALL WHO TRY TO OPPOSE US!!!! WE ARE NOW THE TRUE BROTHERHOOD OF NOD!!!!!!" The transmission then faded to the sound of the men cheering and the clanking of metal plates as the triumphant forces of the Nation of Nod celebrated their overwhelming victory... "Hmmmmm....death by a slice to the Carotid Artery. Quick and efficient - however, I find that slower, more agonizing deaths are appropriate for audience consumption... Hmph, sorry, I was just musing out-loud..." Ariana was a former Executor of the Brotherhood... "My, my what a tour-de-force by our nation's acting Supreme Leader of the Armed Forces, General Michaelson... You know, he actually fought in the Battle of Addis Ababa, defending Temple Secundus itself from the enemy in the final act... he was the actual leader of the 'Lost Boys' Cabal and survived the Great Purge... The territorial maps shown did not support the sovereignty of the Aether Empire but this may have been an international misprint due to the secrecy with which their nation often operated. That stated, as Al Asad reported the events to Raochin, Aether took a few quick short measures to ensure it's survival and perhaps growth from this event. Naval defense platforms were deployed along the Red Sea to provide anti-naval defenses if need be via Aether's brown-water navy and Aether Deployed 75,000 soldiers to the south with 6,000 tanks in support. 25,000 soldiers remained behind in reserves with authorization for full engagement on hold temporarily. The observed inbound planes on Aether Radar (apparently pure transport with no fighter escorts) we're marked as warm and the newer fighter planes (some still getting their final paint jobs on their Aether Flags) took off in force, with 10 sent to provide a defensive perimeter around Raochins newly organized southern territory, ten set to patrol Aether territory and 20 sent on sorties to mark and order the stop of paratroop drops). The planes were not the X-13s of old which landed and were temporarily mothballed for lack of pilots (I can RP 100,000 soldiers but only 40 airplanes by RP rules, go figure). If shots were fired at Aether forces, the enemy was to be labeled as hot and full aggression was to be initiated with further deployments cancelled through air "negotiations". Otherwise, Aether forces were to act as support for NOD forces in the region... it's that odd edgy sort of truce that exists between powers like this where one both supports those of like mind and yet holds a dagger behind one's back in case negotiations go south. Incapacitators were also deployed to the field because of their special handling of troops in large quantities. Banshee missiles were also set to hot and given targets by Von Zak of mission critical importance should the event turn to war. Using their advanced speed over the slow prop planes to gain the advantage word was quickly sent to NOD command: "The Aether Empire does not condone the usage of force in this region but given the instability we are sending our own forces in as well for the party, might as well right? We are laying claims to certain regions and would note that we believe we remember Raochin establishing some as well. Forces were sent earlier to our borders without prior notification and if necessary we will repel them and authorize full military force against them before they even reach the ground if your intents are hostile towards our nation or the nation of Raochin. We recommend that a meeting take place at the neutral territory where our three nations meet to discuss this matter further. In the meantime your forces are to withdraw paratroopers from our border and our forces in that region will enforce law and order instead. " "After all we are laying claim to that region personally." " In other words, we lay claim to the southeastern region and we would support Raochin if they were to expand their own presence somewhat in the north (although we mostly support NOD in it's own expansion in all areas). to ensure any future mishaps don't occur we would like to create a joint meeting between our three nations so that in the future there are less misunderstandings. Instead, despite the chaotic and violent tone of this diplomatic message, we ironically would prefer something else.... Something that foreign powers now are hoping we do not do to ensure their own supremacy. " "We the Aether Empire propose a mutual coalition between our three nations, Raochin, the Aether Empire and the Nation of Nod for the purposes of unity and strength through power which will provide stability for our countries and their endevours over a large swath of the worlds surface. Our unity will be our strength and these lands will simply serve as production blocks and resource centers for our future growth. The nations of the world oft look at our powers in scorn and misunderstanding, but together they will look at us with awe or they will look at us with fear. Thus, we wish to eliminate the weakness this event may yield our future before it even begins. Each of our nations alone does not hold the strength to withstand the bullwork of fate hoisted upon us, but if we band together this region of the world will fall to our will. An additional 6,000 troops are being deployed on the northern red sea coast to secure that region from the former ISoA, also our Eagle's are now making sweeps across the region with the AEmpire for the same reasons. The Republic of Free Somal will be activating the NAPO accords to determine what course of action is needed to remove you from African territory. While we have no objections to the NODs expanding their territory you are not known to us. Simply put, either remove yourself from Africa or we'll do what we have to do to remove you. ***Classified Orders*** 1st through 4th Armored Divisions are ordered to full readiness. All fighter Squadrons and Long Range Bomber Squadrons are put on standby for immediate combat operations. All reserve brigades are ordered to full readiness. **Message to NOD, private** Congratulations on your recent successes in bring order to the area around you. However, there are elements in play that we are unsure of at this time. Forces of a third party have entered into Africa and we will be activating the NAPO accords to determine what course of action is needed to remove them. Besides, it's not as if I'm trying to claim some far off land that isn't right next door to my country. In fact, our cultures are basically the same, there may be some differentials but the people have welcomed us with open arms so far. We are not stamping out their rights, and they will not be treated as "colonists" they are far to close to us to even consider that. We are not some large European power, come to just steal the land and harm the people as you seem to think all outsiders will do. These actions are not necessary. Zarfef Posted June 28, 2009 Report Share Posted June 28, 2009 Aether Empire forces were informed of the threat and an observation of the current standing army of Somal was initiated, cruise missiles on the north Shore of the Aether Empire were redirected towards Somal threats and targets (a total of ten armed with high explosive cluster/multi-warhead and EMP ordnances) of the Nation of Nod were placed to bomber crew should air-support be necessary. The Aether Empire air-force from the north returned (given that eagles were in the sky already from Raochin) to provide a force for air-supremacy over the Aether Empire, placing a total of 20 such fighters in the air in the Aether Empire and 16 fighters trailing the paratroop craft near the Aether Border with 4 armored bombing "blimps" moving in to provide ground cover if need be. Given the threat of the Somal Air-force, anti-air units in and around the Aether Empire were placed on high alert and plans that would have been implemented by Teaunus were being put into play against Somal if need be. On the southern end of the Aether Empire, the 25k soldiers in place made military preparations in turning the canyons of the region into a deadly maze of mined false roads, and cliff-side anti-tank nests and snipers and machine gun nests waiting from the walls. Ah-64 style attack helicopters, developed during the Teaunus era incident were deployed to hide in these walls as well like monsters awaiting their prey and the remaining 1,000 tanks remained viligilent under camo nets with Incapacitators placing their thin trails of metal filings along various canyon biways all entrances with some having exensions given to their "plugs" near the coastal regions to assure that naval attacks that made it to shore were given an unfriendly welcome. Furthermore, the artillery systems were activated in both regions (Once again from the mountain and canyon walls as to make ground or air attacks on the region annoyingly difficult with the north fully prepared to launch an all out assault of any enemy forces entering the southern end of the Aether Empire from across the red sea IE if you take a land invasion route of the southern Aether Empire, the northern artillery shells will start raining down. To this extent it was a fair picture to say that the north end of the Empire, using the Red Sea as a buffer acted as a long range missile, air-force and artillery post while the south acted as a major land military force in defensive unity with each other. There were however, 75,000 Aether Empire troops heading to meet up with paratrooper forces or further Nod forces in order to aid them in securing regions or if need be to fight off an invasion, (the latter was hoped to be unlikely given Aether hopes of a triple national entity in the region which could secure much in the way of power for each other). These forces continued as the 16 strike fighters in air were capable of devestating the areal invasion forces that were still in air with their paratroops and the ground would provide hideous quantities of anti-air fire with 50,000 troops placing themselves to a defensive position and 25,000 troops moving in movement to fully secure the western and north Eastern areas and place up a defensive camp in case Somal were to move in, granting the Aether Empire the largest possible buffer. Roachin is not a foreign nation they are no more than a couple hundred kilometers from the area in question. Just become some European cartographers three centuries ago decided not to include the Arabian Peninsula in Africa does not mean they do not have just as much cultural and historical ties to the region as any other nation in the European designated Africa. If anything western or southern Africa could be considered more foreign to the Islamic States of Africa than Roachin could. OOC: Also Zarfef is at the western tip of the Arabian Peninsula, and where Djibouti is. Basically two small areas right at the opening of the Red Sea. Supporters of the international terrorist organization Brotherhood of Nod founded the current Nation of Nod, no nation should be supporting this regime. This unwarranted and unjustified invasion of the Islamic States of Africa should be proof enough of their malevolent intentions. Moreover this so-called Nation of Nod is a Brotherhood of Nod proxy, and the Brotherhood of Nod is a Dark Hand front, therefore the Nation of Nod IS Dark Hand.
