PALACE PRESS RELEASE

flag2.jpg

"Citizens of the Kingdom of Cochin, today is a day of mixed feelings for us. It is a great sorrow to us that Dragonisia is no more. The nation which had been our allies for a greater part of our history here, the nation which had supported us in many ways, no longer exists as a political entity in our world.

However today is also the day that India is whole once again. Had it not been heralded by tidings as these, it would have been even greater day for rejoicing. However we must deal with what fate has dealt with us.

An year ago, I had requested you to support the Kingdom in developing the Cochin-India. Today I thank you for the great work and sacrifices made by a very many of you. Now let us all try once again to bring the whole of India to the same level of development. Citizens of Cochin, we are lucky to be witnessing an epochal moment in our history. For recent history, the Kingdom of Cochin had been a land bound nation, kept away from our Indian homelands by the great wall that is the Himalayas. For centuries the Kingdom had remained a Central Asian nation, but no longer. Today we are not Central Asian, today we are not South Asian. Today, my loyal subjects, we are ASIAN!! As I said to you an year back, no longer are we Kazakhis, Kyrghiz, Balochis, Uighurs, Chinese, Tibetans or Indians. Today , my brothers we are all citizens of the KINGDOM OF COCHIN.

The strength and magnificence of the Kingdom would not have been possible without the help given to us by each and every one of you. Today in this epochal moment in our national history, I make you a promise, nay a Covenant.

The Kingdom shall not look back. We shall grow greater in riches and strength. We shall not rest until every citizen of Cochin has been granted the opportunities to better themselves. By the honor of my ancestors, by the blood of my family, I , Rama Varma, swear to defend the safety and prosperity of the Kingdom of Cochin forever.

Brothers and Sisters, Let us now look forward to an even greater tomorrow in the light of a truly resplendent today.

Thank you."

ROYAL DURBAR

Present at this special meeting of the Royal Durbar are the King, His Highness Rama Varma, Minister of Interior, Revin George, Governor of North Kazakhstan Province, Vladimir Kyrilenko, Governor of South Kazakhstan Province, Umar Gunayev and Governor of Kyrghyztan Province, Natanya Grushavoy. Since this is a special Durbar, the Cabinet ministers and other ministers are not present.

After every body had seated around the conference table for Durbar, the doors were sealed and King's Guards stood defense. The Minister of Interior is in an tense state, something very important was about to happen. The Provincial Governors were meanwhile very tense. They had no idea how the King would react to their request. Such a thing had not happened in the near memory. While Grushavoy and Kyrilenko were sweating despite the coolness of the air conditioning, Gunayev was presenting a tense rigidity. The boom of the closing doors had a ring of eerie finality for them. The smiling visage of Rama Varma also had a chilling effect on the Governors.

"Gentlemen and lady, my colleague, Revin informs me of your special request for this meeting. Would you please state the matters yourself," The King asked calmly.

Umar Gunayev stood up slowly and spoke, " Your Excellency, over the past year or so, the people of Kazakhstan and Kyrghyztan are expressing difficulties in remaining under the rule of an Indian ruled government. Though Your Excellency was born and raised in Central Asia the basic structure and style of governance is still Indian in character. Though the people of our provinces, do appreciate the special efforts undertaken to promote equality, there has been an under current that people want more autonomy in their affairs. " The word autonomy was the one, Gunayev had worried about using, but felt he could not do justice to his people if he did not state the positions clearly.

"I see. Is it autonomy you want or secession," The King asked coolly.

"No Sir, the people have not wished for secession in general, yet. But we feel that could be a possibility," Natanya Grushavoy answered.

"With your permission, Your Excellency, may I ask how and why you were chosen to bring forth this issue before the Durbar? In what way did the people of these regions communicate this so called grievance?" Revin George asked.

Vladimir Kyrilenko answered, "We have been receiving citizen's delegations over the past several months, they seem to be organized well. There has been no violence in their delegations for autonomy so far. We, as Kazakhs also find merit in it."

The King then looked at Gunayev and smiled warmly at him. Gunayev spoke,"Your Excellency, I am the leader of this movement. I had organized my people in seeking a peaceful transfer of autonomy to the Kazakh and Kyrghyz people. I believe this is something that we as a people deserve." Having said this, Umar braced for whatever punishment would come his way.

"Dont be so tense, Umar. You have been an excellent Governor. I appointed you to Govern the province, to understand the needs and aspirations of your own people and you have done it marvelously well. I too understand the needs and aspirations of the people and have in fact expected such a delegation from you. However autonomy would not be granted until certain facts are ascertained. There shall be a general plebiscite on this issue to be voted on by every registered citizen of the Kazakh and Kyrghyz provinces. I shall announce a day when the citizens themselves shall express their opinions regarding their fate through the Citizen's Representation Bureau. I myself have read several requests posted by our citizens regarding this matter and it shall be judiciously settled. The people shall choose what they want - Sovereignty, Protectorate Autonomy or remaining part of the Kingdom. So inform your people, Lady and Gentlemen. They shall soon have a chance to attain their aspirations. God Speed."

"Thank you , Your Excellency," the three Provincial Governors chimed in as once relieved at seeing the smiling faces of the King and the Minister of Interior.

"By the way , nice acting , Revin, you had them really tense. I was afraid if Vladimir would suffer a heart attack," Rama Varma whispered to his Minister and friend.

ROYAL COCHIN NAVY PRESS BRIEFING

Royal Cochin Navy and Quarter Master Command today released a comprehensive inventory of the various classes of Anti Shipping Mines currently used to protect the Kingdom's coastline.

1. Mk6 Mechanical Sweep Mine

Mechanical Sweep Mines Mk 6 are surface-launched inert E&T shapes of their obsolete service mine counterparts. They are designed solely for training personnel in the techniques of mine countermeasures (moored mine neutralization).

The Mine Mk 6 consists of an 800-pound anchor connected by a mooring cable to a buoyant 500-pound mine case. The spherical mine case is inert-loaded. The extender and firing mechanism wells are empty and closed with watertight shipping covers. Four H-plugs are used to seal the horn holes in the mine case. The mine case is painted either white with orange stripes or orange with white stripes. The anchor is painted black.
There are three OAs for the Mechanical Sweep Mine Mk 6. OA-01 is the standard assembly used with the plummet and anchor functioning as designed. OA-02 has been modified by removing the parachute and pulling the cable out of the anchor equal to the desired case mooring depth (plummet not used). OA-03 is the same as OA-02, except that an arming wire is used to initiate case/anchor separation. There are two methods of planting Mechanical Sweep Mines Mk 6: OA-01 and OA-02 are planted using launching tracks mounted on the planting vessel, and OA-03 is planted using an overside crane.

2. Mk 25 / Mk 36 Hunting mine

The Hunting Mine Mk 25 is a recoverable, inert-loaded shape. It is planted in the water by surface craft solely to help mine countermeasures personnel develop their mine hunting skills and techniques.

The mine weighs approximately 2,000 pounds with its tail cover. The flight gear (shown above) is omitted when the mine is surface planted and is only shown to illustrate how a fully assembled Mine Mk 25 appeared when it was once dropped from aircraft. The mine does not contain explosives or target detecting/actuating mechanisms and, therefore, is ballasted internally with concrete to maintain its necessary negative buoyancy and bottom stability. The mine’s case is painted either white with orange stripes or orange with white stripes.

The Hunting Mine Mk 36 is a recoverable, inert-loaded shape that is also planted by surface craft solely to help mine countermeasures personnel develop their mine hunting skills and techniques. In many ways, it is simply a smaller version of the Mine Mk 25.

The mine weighs approximately 1,000 pounds with its tail cover. The flight gear (shown above) is omitted when the mine is surface planted and is only shown to illustrate how a fully assembled Mine Mk 36 appeared when it was once dropped from aircraft. The mine does not contain explosives or target detecting/actuating mechanisms and, therefore, is ballasted internally with concrete to maintain its necessary negative buoyancy and bottom stability. The mine’s case is painted either white with orange stripes or orange with white stripes.

3. Mk 52 Laying / Hunting mine

The Hunting Mine Mk 52 is also a recoverable, inert-loaded mine that is planted by surface craft. It is planted solely to help mine countermeasures personnel develop their mine hunting skills and techniques. The mine’s flight gear is not used for surface planting.
This mine also weighs approximately 1,000 pounds, consisting of a ballasted mine case and tail cover. Two options are available for tail cover use: the standard tail cover may be used, or a modified tail cover designed for MMS Mk 5 recovery may be utilized. The modified tail cover does not use a float. The mine’s case is painted either white with orange stripes or orange with white stripes.

4. Mk 52 Actuation Mine

The Actuation Mine Mk 52 is a recoverable, inert-loaded mine. It is normally planted by Merat, Metac of JM2N aircraft, but may also be planted minus its flight gear from surface craft. It is planted to help mine countermeasures personnel develop their mine sweeping skills and techniques. If air delivered, it also serves to enhance aircrew proficiency in carrying mines and planting minefields at sea.

The mine weighs approximately 1,000 pounds, consisting of a mine case, instrument rack, tail cover, pyrotechnic (colored smoke) signal and a float inside a drill section, and flight gear (only if air delivered). It does not contain explosives and is ballasted with concrete to maintain its necessary negative buoyancy. The mine does contain magnetic (Mod 2) or acoustic/magnetic (Mod 5) firing mechanisms that, instead of exploding the mine, operate a pyrotechnic signal which surfaces to provide a visual indication of mine actuation. A search coil inside the mine’s case senses magnetic stimuli, while a hydrophone (Mod 5 only) responds to acoustic signals. After a preset time, the float is freed to rise to the water’s surface. This float pays out a 200-foot recovery line that is secured to the mine case, enabling mine recovery by surface craft without the use of divers. The float will operate in this delayed manner whether or not mine actuation (pyrotechnic signal release) has occurred. The mine’s case is painted either white with orange stripes or orange with white stripes.
Three OAs exist for the Actuation Mine Mk 52. For OA-03B, Fin Mk 10 or 20 is fitted. OA‑06B calls for a Fairing, Nose & Tail Mk 19. For both of these air-delivered OAs,
a Parachute Pack Mk 35 is also used. OA-05E is assembled minus any sort of flight gear for surface planting.

5. Mk 55 Hunting Mine

The Hunting Mine Mk 55 is a recoverable, inert-loaded shape planted by surface craft. It is planted solely to help mine countermeasures personnel develop their mine hunting skills and techniques.

The mine weighs approximately 2,000 pounds, consisting of a mine case and tail cover (flight gear is omitted). The flight gear is shown above only to illustrate how a fully assembled mine appeared when it was once dropped from aircraft. The mine does not contain explosives or target detecting/actuating mechanisms and, therefore, is ballasted with concrete to maintain its necessary negative buoyancy. Two options are available for tail cover use. The standard tail cover may be used, or a modified tail cover designed for MMS Mk 5 recovery may be used. The mine’s case is painted either white with orange stripes or orange with white stripes.

6. Mk 62 Quickstrike Service / Laying Mine

The QUICKSTRIKE Service Mine Mk 62 is an explosive-loaded (H-6 fill) bottom mine operationally planted by personnel flying Merat, Metac of JM2N aircraft Orion aircraft.
This 500-pound mine consists of a thick-walled general purpose (GP) Bomb Mk 82 incorporating an Arming Device Mk 32, and a Fin Mk 15, Fin BSU-86/B, or Tail Section Mk 16. The mine uses a Target Detection Device (TDD) Mk 57 (magnetic and seismic sensors) to detect stimuli generated by enemy vessels. The mine case is painted either olive drab or gray (new color).

Six OAs exist for the QS Service Mine Mk 62. For OAs 02 and 03, a Fin Mk 15 is fitted. A Fin BSU-86/B is used for OA-09. A Tail Section Mk 16 is used for OA-06 (F/A-18), OA-12 (B-1B), or OA-13 (B-2A).

7. Mk 63 Quickstrike Service / Laying Mine

The QUICKSTRIKE Service Mine Mk 63 is an explosive-loaded (H-6 fill) bottom mine operationally planted by personnel flying Merat, Metac of JM2N aircraft aircraft.
This 1,000-pound mine consists of a thick-walled general purpose (GP) Bomb Mk 83 incorporating an Arming Device Mk 32 and a Fin MAU-91A/B or Tail Section Mk 12. The mine uses a Target Detection Device (TDD) Mk 57 (magnetic and seismic sensors) to detect stimuli generated by enemy vessels. The mine case is painted either olive drab or gray (new color).

Three OAs exist for the QS Service Mine Mk 63. For OAs 02 and 03, a Fin MAU-91A/B
is fitted. A Tail Section Mk 12 is used for OA-06.

8. Mk 65 Quickstrike Service / Laying Mine

The QUICKSTRIKE Service Mine Mk 65 is an explosive-loaded mine for operational planting by aviation personnel flying Merat, Metac of JM2N aircraft aircraft. It was designed as a mine from the outset, using a thin-walled mine-type case filled with a PBXN-103 explosive mix vice the thicker bomb-type cases used by QUICKSTRIKE Mines Mk 62 and 63 filled with explosive mix H-6. The mine uses either a Target Detection Device (TDD) Mk 57 (magnetic and seismic sensors) or a TDD Mk 58 (magnetic, seismic, and pressure sensors) to detect stimuli generated by enemy vessels.

This mine weighs approximately 2,260 pounds, consisting of a mine case, nose fairing, and a Tail Section Mk 7. Its case is a steel cylinder 93 inches long and 21 inches in diameter at its largest point. A 16‑inch portion of the aft end of the case tapers from 21 inches to 17.5 inches in diameter, at which point the tail is attached. The mine’s case is painted olive drab.

9. MK 67 Submarine Launched Mobile Mine (SLMM)

A SLMM Mk 67 weighs approximately 1,790 pounds and is launched from submerged submarines. The SLMM propels itself to the planting site where it shuts down and plants itself until recovery. Approximately twenty seconds after the end of the run, all propulsion and control functions are shut down and the fuse ejector disconnects the main motor fuse disconnect. This action prevents the motor from restarting after planting.

The Service SLMM is a self‑propelled bottom mine with a capability that permits it to be covertly placed in a predetermined bottom planting location. It uses a Target Detection Device (TDD) Mk 57 that utilizes magnetic and seismic sensors to detect stimuli generated by enemy vessels. The SLMM’s purpose is to restrict ship and submarine traffic in an operational role. The Service SLMM employs a modified Torpedo Mk 37 as the propulsion vehicle, designated the Body, Mine Main Assembly Mk 4. Forward of this main body is the Explosive Section Mk 13/Nose Section Subassembly (Loaded) which contains the PBXN‑103 explosive mixture, Exploder Mechanism Mk 19, Arming Device Mk 2, and TDD Mk 57 with its Battery Mk 131.

The Body, Mine Main Assembly Mk 4 is painted green, while the Explosive Section Mk 13 retains its galvanized finish.

10. Substrike Mine

The Substrike is an Air/Surface/Submarine launched mine platform that is capable of detecting and engaging surfaced/ submerged targets based on their acoustic and electromagnetic characteristics. The substrikes would be equipped with simplex communications with the RCN ELF array so that updates of RCN and friendly and neutral shipping characteristics would be uplinked to the system. If and when an unidentified target with unrecognized detection parameters are detected, the Substrike would release its Mk.100 torpedo top engage the target.

11. Improved Submarine Launched Mobile Mine

It is a bottom mine designed to attack surface and submerged targets in shallow water depths. The ISLMM features dual warheads to increase each submarine’s mine laying capacity and is designed for increased compatibility with the fire control systems of RCN Submarine assets. In addition, the ISLMM will have a multiple waypoint turn capability and a greater range than the present SLMM, which will significantly increase the accuracy and number of clandestinely delivered minefields that can be planted by each submarine.

It has been inferred that this unprecedented revelation of Royal Cochin Navy's defensive capabilities is as part of a covert warning to potential violators of the Kingdom's maritime frontiers. It has also been hypothesized that this announcement may prelude sales of these defensive systems to neutral and friendly nations of the Kingdom.
Esteemed Cochin government,

Our two nations have long held cordial relations and we are proud to have Cochin as a friendly ally. Due to recent events, in the Americas particularly, and continual overhaul and maintenance, we have decided to upgrade our military defenses. After reviewing documents and information made public by the Kingdom of Cochin military, we were hoping your nation would be willing to direct and manage the upgrades to our defensive systems. We are particularly interested in the following areas:

SOSUS line and other related defenses.

Advanced railgun technology

Implementation of ISLMM and Substrike Mines
If you are willing to provide assistance in these areas we can provide further information about our current technological capabilities. Fortunately, our nation is relatively advanced for our size and we should be able to maintain any implemented systems you provide. We are willing to provide compensation for your services and can provide housing and translators for all Cochin engineers and personnel.

Please inform us of your decision, we look forward to working with you,

Steingrímur Vilhjálmsson
To Northern Republic,

The Kingdom of Cochin is indeed honored to have such honored allies as Groenlandia. Considering the history of warm relations between our nations we would be very glad to cooperate with you in the technologies so requested.

The technologies you have requested information on, we are willing to sell them to you for judicious remuneration. As a prelude we invite a military scientific delegation to visit our Royal Cochin Naval facilities where we could display their combat capabilities to you. The delegation from Groenlandia is welcome to arrive at the Ratnagiri International Airport from where we would conduct you to our various demonstration sites.

Yours Sincerely,

KP Varma,
Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Kingdom of Cochin Foreign Policy Announcement

The Kingdom of Cochin hereby announces a period of reduced International Intervention. The Kingdom of Cochin is undergoing tumultous changes with the secession of its historic Kazakh and Kyrghyz lands and the associated effects on our national economy and defense. A sizable percentage of our population is now separating from us and this includes a sizable strength of the personnel of Royal Cochin Defense Forces. As a result of these events, the Kingdom of Cochin is now entering a period of consolidation.

Due to the peaceful termination of conflicts surrounding the Midway Island the Royal Cochin Naval battle fleet deployed to support Greater Pacifica has been recalled and we expect this to be our last large scale foreign deployments for some time. The Royal Cochin Defense Forces is calling back the Battalion from 2nd Mechanized Division that had been deployed to Michuraza to assure its protection as that nation's defense is now otherwise assured by its neighbors. Henceforth for the conceivable near future the Kingdom shall be involving only in the regional politics. We shall continue to maintain the safety, stability and security of South Asia and shall be ever ready to defend our fellow Asia Pacific nations if the need ever arises, but we are no longer able to be as pro active as before for the near future.

We also advice nations who take this to be an admission of weakness, that it is only the Kingdom's offensive capabilities that are been downshifted during this period of economic stringency. No budgeting would be done with regard to the defense of our realm and any nation or entity seeking to exploit this moment would be much advised to refrain from doing do with a malevolent eye towards the Kingdom. The Kingdom reiterates its assurance of Mutual Defense to our closet allies and treaty partners.

The Royal Cochin Navy shall continue to patrol the Indian Ocean and Antarctic Ocean, Royal Cochin Air Force continues to patrol the skies of the Kingdom and Royal Cochin Army continues to establish and maintain the various Cochin Protectorates.

Sd,

His Highness Rama Varma,
The King of Cochin.

A letter would be delivered to His Royal Majesty, Rama Varma, King of Cochin, addressed from the Office of Holy Affairs in Brisbane.
Your Most Esteemed Majesty,

I hope this letter finds Your Highness in good health whilst reigning over a prosperous nation. The subject that I would like to address to you is one of a religious nature and while I understand that the Kingdom of Cochin is indeed a secular state, it even makes this letter more important for the continual practice of Catholicism world wide. Recently, if perchance the news of Europe does not always reach the vast expanses of Asia, the once fragmented Roman Catholic Church is beginning to come together and end the Schism that had separated the faith for so long. I realize that there are many denominations of Christianity represented in the Kingdom, yet the Catholic faith is lacking any such representation to our faithful within your borders and I would like to begin taking the correct steps and the polite steps that your Majesty would allow, to bring Catholic representation to the people that desire it. If possible, to begin this representation, I would like to begin to send a small entourage of Catholic Lay Clergy, Monastic teachers, and nuns, to establish Parishes, monasteries, and convents where the population allows. These establishments of course would never dare interfere with the secular workings of the Kingdom of Cochin and only seek to provide voice to the Catholic subjects of your nation.

If Your Majesty would desire further discussion on the issue, I would gladly invite you to come to Brisbane and discuss it with me further, or perhaps it would be easier to send a representative to you and your religious leaders in Cochin, if the discussion is necessary. However, if no discussion is required, then this letter is only for the continued good-will between the Kingdom of Cochin and a new breath of Catholicism which will seek to overcome the problems of the Vatican and the Church in the past. I look forward to any meeting or progress in the teaching and representation of the faith with absolute haste and optimism.

Sincerely Yours,

Eliisa Malkinin,
Bishop of Brisbane
To: Elissa Malkinin,
Bishop of Brisbane,
Queendom of Australia

The Kingdom of Cochin is indeed a secular nation where the separation of state from religion is maintained with absolute strictness. But the Kingdom also protects the freedom of all religions and faiths to practice. The only principal criterion for any religion or faith to seek to establish its faithful in then Kingdom is that they maintain a spirit of inter faith harmony and religious tolerance with the countless other faiths already existing in the nation.

The Kingdom of Cochin does not involve itself in matters of Catholic Church, internationally. However Queendom of Australia is a valuable and cherished friend, and hence you are welcome to establish your church in the Kingdom. Please do coordinate with the Great Temple of All Faiths, which would assist you in all matters procedural and administrative to establish your presence here. Through GTAF, the Catholic Church would receive moderate state sponsorship, if requested.

Hope your requests have been satisfactorily answered,
Yours Sincerely,

HH Rama Varma,
The King of Cochin.
OOC: @ Sil: It does not really matter much, mate!! That map is not to scale, :P. Just a provincial map to show where all the lands lie. It is too much of a hassle to check the orientation of an anachronistic strip that has multiple orientations in multiple world maps over time, :)

Brother Teemu Parviainen and Sister Gwendolyn Price, a Welshwoman and a Finn, both members of the Order of Malleus Dei, and both part of the members of the Australian Catholic Church's monastic society smiled to each other as the small Australian freighter pulled towards the Port of Bombay in the Kingdom of Cochin, their work towards the progression of the Church on mainland Asia was to begin here. The Bishop had given the two priests a strict assignment on how they were to behave themselves while in Cochin, this was a country of extreme secularism and where religion was not, under any circumstance to be interjected into the state. Catholicism in Asia was lacking, there were small enclaves throughout the continent, but nothing to the degree that it could be found in either Europe or in Oceania and if Cochin was to be one of the first steps then it would have to be done carefully and with a great deal of finesse.

"So the orders were what Teemu? After we land." Gwendolyn sighed holding onto the rails of the ship, looking out over the port.

"I'm afraid that The King of Cochin never specified to Lady Eliisa just where their Great Temple was. But that's where we have to head towards. After that, ask for a spot of land to build the Church in Cochin and then report back to the Bishop for further instructions. Nothing too physically or mentally draining." He chuckled.

As the barge came to a stop in the port, cargo and persons aboard were unloaded and disembarked. Walking down the wooden ramp from the ship, Teemu and Gwendolyn, both dressed in robes of the Catholic clergy, walked up to one of the harbormasters at the end of the dock and bowed as they got his attention. "Sir." Teemu began. "I am Brother Teemu Parviainen and this is Sister Gwendolyn Price, we are members of the Australian Catholic Church here to being a ministry, unfortunately, our superiors did not alert us to where the Great Temple of Cochin is located. Do you think you could fill us in?"

As the two arrived in Cochin, and when they would eventually find the Great Temple, they'd find that the Cult already was represented among the many faiths. Atop that, they had begun a fairly aggressive building plan for more temples in more and more rural areas to expand worship in the region as allowed within the limits of Cochin law.
