1.
These are the trying times. And we will not only survive: We will thrive, come out stronger for it.
Are you trying to convince the world or yourself?
2.
People have been killing your other ally for a week and now you finally decide to stop hugging the infra.
How did NEW feel?
3. Missed this (d'oh!), but I'm still gonna post anyway Lady Wulfruna
4. No they weren't. I don't quite get the 'Uncertain Generation'. I would've gone with the 'Moralistic Generation' what with all the arguments for and against raiding.
5. I have to say this is a poor showing NEW. Tech raiding's bad enough, but extortion too? I sincerely hope this is not an indication of future policy.
6.
I don't think his issue is that you brought in friends so much as the fact that the said friends then bragged about jumping in... kind of a pointless boast.
Last I checked everyone talking here from our AA was in our AA when we were originally attacked.
7. 'We go live to Auldhall for this announcement from the Prime Minister. Our chief political correspondant Tony Williams is on site as we speak... Tony?' '..Thanks Pete. In just a moment we'll be hearing from the PM on what is believed to be the commissioning of a new memorial commemorating the recent global conflict. It is widely known that the PM has been lobbying for a memorial since the end of the 'Karma' war, but only now in the nuclear ashes of what was Parliament house has his request finally been granted. As far as I can tell it appears it will... wait.. yes, here he is now....' 'Ladies and Gentlemen of the press corp, I bid you welcome back to Auldhall. As you can see construction of the new Parliament house is well underway, soon we'll be able to call this home again. That however, is not what we came to talk about today. Over the last two years our great nation has seen war and bloodshed on a truly epic scale. Many sons and daughters of this great land lost forever in the defence of the realm. For too long has their sacrifice been unmarked. But not just our own troops... We have friends and allies across this world who have suffered as badly if not worse than ourselves. With that my proposal for a memorial has finally been approved by Parliament. Thomas Smitson has been commissioned by His Majesty's Government to produce a piece to commemorate the brave troops that have fallen in defence of the Phoenix as well as those who fought against her. Work has already begun with the intent of an unveiling to mark the one year anniversary of the end of hostilities. Furthermore, having consulted with His Majesty I have the honour to declare that the fourth of August will now be known as a official national holiday as a day of remembrance to those who lost their lives in both here and on foreign soil...' '...well there you have it, a new memorial, we'll have more information on this and other stories as they develop later in the show........'
8. I guess if you cant tech raid other alliances you may as well use your own! In all fairness, good luck with the purges. It's good to see an alliance make a tough decision like this. But when you said "A few months ago" - was that six, per chance? /sniping.
9.
Congrats to TPF on lasting just over 24 hours against the Viridian war machine before surrendering. That makes you some exceptionally tough individuals
Tough enough to warrant a 300+ strong sanctioned alliance (plus NV + 1TF) to even up the odds.
10. Thanks to all involved for a speedy resolution to the war. o/ WAPA - Hope the rebuilding is swift o/ VE - Thanks for my first nuke - I'll love you forever! And of course; o/ TPF - We live to ride again.
11.
Good luck TPF, I'm glad that we're working on the same side of this thing.
Me too. Always had respect for the Sith.
12. Sankistan sounds like he's doing a good job by continueing to cause damage on you whilst tying up one of your war slots even if it is at the expense of his own nation. It doesn't matter how much you can beat someone down, they are not obliged to surrender.
13. Sorry to butt in here, but not complying means you've not surrendered. And not surrendering does not make you an "AZZ".
14. Will NpO members be able to respect themselves knowing they stepped out from a fight they started whilst their allies fought on? Orders are orders... right? I feel that if the white peace Grub so badly wants is achieved it will be a Pyhrric victory for Polar. NpO and so many other alliances will be greatly reduced all in the name of keeping the world in order.
15. Agreed. Unfortunately its lack of use (to me) seems to stem more from the negative PR backlash that leaders semm so scared of.
16. Probably a rude question, but if everyone here is so rubbish why continue to post here?
17. In a war where you feel your entry would leave you out-numbered and out-gunned is there any real choice? The NpO-\m/ war was always going to escalate as everyone decided they'd take advantage of the situation to further their own agendas. Now we find ourselves in the midst of global war once again. The way this war has escalated is something of a portent for all future wars. With the mass of treaties in effect on Bob it seems from my point of view that any and all wars could easily expand into global conflict as allies of allies (of allies ad nauseum) heed the call to war. Whether it be in mutual defence or attack the treaty web means any and all can be thrown into a state of war with little warning. This is why the pre-emptive strike has now become a viable choice. It is not a popular choice as no-one on the receiving end of it wants war to come a-knocking unexpectedly, but if by supporting your allies/a cause/whatever you expect to be on the receiving end of a blitz then it is a necessary evil.
18. Like everyone else atm I've got a bad case of 'what the hell happened?' running round my head. I was there at update and got as confused as anyone. Is it a trap? Is it not? Do I care? Why am I awake right now I could be asleep... They all went through my mind. Why & how it went down doesn't really bother me. What bothers me is the following... If the events around update 29/01/10 were a trap for TOP + co. Did all the nations involved in the 'bait' AA's (Polar, \m/, PC, FOK etc) know of this? If it was entrapment, how do the nations of these 'bait' alliances feel to be used as sacrificial pawns in a game where the only winners would be other AA's? The AA's at the original core of the fighting didn't seem to be shamming, the increased radiation level is a testament to that. This says that the fighting was as bloody as any other war that takes place on Bob. Peace then breaks out and for what? The general membership of these AA's are mostly anarchied and no doubt hurting badly in the NS stakes whilst other AA's get the war they appear to have been spoiling for. No victory dance for the anarchied, no reps for the war-ravaged. No apology, no remorse. No denial of it being entrapment either though... #1: If an alliance I was in made me the bait of an elaborate trap without my knowledge or consent I would be looking to ask my government some strong questions. Especially if I had to sit through a week of nuclear warfare for them. #2: Why should I stay in an AA and run the risk of (unknowingly) being cannon-fodder for someone else's political maneuevering? Throughout my time at TPF I've blah, blah, blah... Not the point here at all. Regardless of who you roll with, shouldn't you trust your government to not use you? Hard times are ahead for the alliances at the centre of this debacle. Can they be trusted? And if so, how far? Who will be sacrificed next in a political powerplay? Their allies or their own? (Just to re-iterate, this is in no way representative of my alliance's stance, merely my own take on the current turn of events)
