1. This is a survey I made so I can gauge community opinions on specific issues. It is not about what kind of tech scale is used or whether there is a scale, it is about the upper limits of scale and about how much customisation of technology is allowed. Thus, there is no options about algorithms vs same year or how much the difference between low end and high end should be, because all that is not contributing to the specific point that is the reason for this question.
2. I should read more of CNRPA, because this is actually entertaining. 10/10, would read again.
3. I'm going to make meeting threads with the new American states soon. Tomorrow I'll be gone, so expect them maybe at Sunday.
4. What Cent said. The vote ended about exactly a day ago now. No new votes really came in since, but I decided to discount your vote due to lacking a nation at the time. Provided you'll have a nation then still, next elections you of course will be counted.
5. Like everwhere else in North America, the Japanese protectorate authorities had went and dismantled military industries and the Commonwealth army. Solely the old bases were still around, in use by the Japanese who were stationed there to protect North America. But like with the USA at the East Coast, the rise of the Southern states would be noted by the Japanese and would swiftly be acknowledged, as independence was to be restored. An ambassador, Nosuke Shinji, would be sent to Montgomery, to represent the Japanese and to hand the new government an official communique recognising their existence, informing them of the withdrawal of Japanese forces scheduled over the coming weeks and an invitation for a meeting with Prime Minister Akiyama Kagami in Tokyo.
6. Akiyama gestured Park to follow her inside to the meeting room while responding. "Oh, it has been a challenge and required quite a bit of my attention, given that the fall of the American Commonwealth reshapes our national security strategies and trade relations, but making time to meet one of our brothers and neighbours from Korea is always a possibility. Also, I was hoping to discuss future cooperation between our countries, given we have a great interest in solidifying the Korean state and preventing any renewed communist revolution." The interior of the building was much better, looking less like the small local centre it was, thanks to some refurbishment. The meeting room was laid out in dark wood with multiple beautiful vases holding regional flowers from Japan and Korea decorating the corners. At the ceiling was a chandelier and right beneath it an elegant table made from dark wood similar to the panelling. One of the Prime Ministers aides would immediatly approach Park once they arrived, to guide him to his seat.
7. "Zdrávstvujde Mr. Abramovich. Thank you for receiving us.", Akasaka-Panina said, as the sole one of the delegation to be even able to pronounce the Russian greeting properly, the rest silent, given they failed already horribly while trying in preparation for the visit. They would all then proceed to take some bread and salt and bow slightly out of gratitude, while awaiting what happened next.
8. "Arms production? Well, I guess there's always a market for that, sadly. And I'm sure that even if not advanced, affordable weapons have their own kind of customers. Does your country also have any other great industries? I'd suppose there would be other branches of the economy too, no?", Nakamichi inquired curiously, as he heard of the arms industry. "Technology is not everything. In our case, our high technology allows us to be competitive. But Japan has little in natural ressources, and you can only make so much from dirt. We thus rely heavily on trade and being efficient to make up for our country's natural shortcomings. It is our hope that free trade will bring prosperity and peace."
9. Ok, as time has long been up, here are the results. Centurius - JEDCJT, Mr Director, PresidentDavid, Centurius, Yawoo, Triyun, Voodoo Nova (6 total) Shave N Haircut - KaiserMelech Mikhail (1 total) Greywall - Evangeline Anovilis, Markus Wilding, Peter Ilyich, Shave N Haircut, Greywall (4 total) KaiserMelech Mikhail - Justinian the Mighty, Imperator Azenquor (2 total) PresidentDavid and Markus Wilding were not counted, due to lack of a valid nation at the time of the vote. Still, Centurius has received the most votes and will serve as third GM for the remainder of the term. next elections are scheduled to start at April 15th.
10. The declaration by the Americans had naturally not been a surprise to the Japanese protectorate authority, which had worked heavily in the region, mostly to keep peace, work on promoting new independent governance and dismantling the military-industrial complex. Not to mention, taking into custody the Commonwealths political prisoners, which would be taken to Japan or be freed. Some, like Evangeline Arnault-Delareux, who had been imprisoned in the aftermath of the Laurentine War, would even be given considerable influence in the administration of the American protectorate, due to exceptional willingness to cooperate. Others, like Jade Lithaen, who had not shown much cooperativeness would be transferred to Tokyo Detention House. While a group of Laurentines, not the least Arnault-Delareux, petitioned for the late President Marston to get tried for Commonwealth attacks on Laurentine civilians, there would be no trial for him. Instead, as soon as the Commonwealth had been occupied, agents of the Chūōchō started discreetly liquidating higher officials of the Commonwealth on the order of Prime Minister Akiyama herself. Well, as discreet as that could happen, the government officials would be visited by armed men in the middle of the night, put into a black van and carried off to the nearest forests to never return. However, while the old Commonwealth structures of political elites and "military-industrial imperialism" was dismantled, new elites would be encouraged to create their own new states and the United States were a welcome first government to arise from the ashes. A congratulary note from the Prime Minister would be forwarded via ambassador Tanaka Shiro to its first President, together with an invitation to a meeting in Tokyo, in order to discuss future relations between the United States and the Japanese Empire.
11. Approved. Approved for all those not already claimed by PD. If you want those too, try get PD to approve it too.
12. President Park would be greeted at the airport by an aide, who brought him to the meeting place, where Prime Minister Akiyama was already awaiting him. The Prime Minister, a younger woman, maybe 30 or so, with typically long black hair and her stone grey eyes, was dressed in a simple white shirt, red tie and a long black skirt. It was said Prime Minister Akiyama was not shy in subtly advertising her image of affluence, nobility and being notably being of higher status than most of the Japanese. As Akiyama saw the President arrive, she approached him and greeted him. "Annyeunghaseyo, Mr Park. I'm honoured and glad you found some time to meet."
13. Then don't blame me for the cool relations across the Sea of Ochotsk. Also, reform proposals can be brought up, but if someone wants to actually initiate a rule change, you'll need a new debate topic with your idea and to discuss it. A GM will later make a poll.
14. Just needed this long to state it. I am RPing diplomatic relations with you. The Sakhalin border is the most militarised border I have. And it isn't OOC snub, it's because the one time I did bother with a diplo thread you didn't respond to it and the sole two interactions we had since were you torturing Japanese agents trying to assist Poland and the fallout from you nuking Melech. I have IC rationale to not trust Russia and I do hope Melech doesn't mess up the meeting.
15. The more I hear people use the word "hegemony" just like the word "fascist" without regard for actual meaning, the more that misuse of political terms annoys me.
16. In the morning of the assigned day, envoy Akasaka-Panina and her staff consisting of attache Hatsuharu and two aides arrived in Marscury per aircraft, hoping to be greeted and taken to the meeting place.
17. This system is as anarchic as your typical democracy. We aren't in complete anarchy, given the community accepts some rules for how we ought to conduct ourselves, we have structures for the judiciary and for how rules are made, changed and abolished. And people abide by them. I am preaching to the people who believe that there'd be a time and place when this won't be tied to ingame stats. People who exist, as you can see in this thread. The idea that CNRP not be tied to CN is something that is old as dirt, yet it's never happened, because for all intents and purposes, there's no majority for it and it remains a populist phrase, similar to blaming the hegemony or creating a victim narrative. And no, I do not see myself as courting you. At least not you. I do hope for unity, but I'm not going to go and prostrate myself before the few radicals that cannot be pleased anyway, because they have some personal issues or go contrary to the rest. Any reform carried by radicals is not going to achieve unity, but will just threaten the existing for a vague promise of potential gains. Thus, if there are people who think I will suck up to them and argue for radical change because they can't compromise anyway, then sadly I must disappoint. That is not going to happen. I gladly accept you not leaping into my arms and I'm perfectly fine without you. If at some point you want to join, feel free to, but I'm not romancing radicals and haters into joining an RP they'd just ruin anyway with their terrible attitude. And I know the community is watching me, but I don't think I need to fear harsh judgement, just because I'm not as dumb as to try appease those that will just ask for more, and just shift their blame to other matters. Those kind of people who blame the tech gap, then blame customs, then blame the troop disparity, then blame the alliance system, then blame the lack of proof, then blame that proof is too long, then blame difference in skill and in the end, you'll just keep blaming something. I was in CNRP before the split, I was in CNRP2 before the split, there's reasons I'm not bothering to join your ascended RP and rather work on reforms that are actually going to change something. With people whom I deem actually reasonable and conductive to that effort.
18. Following nominations, the elections for the replacement of Horo*. Everyone has one vote and you need a nation in the RP to cast a valid vote. This vote will run for 48 hours.
*as a GM, given that nothing can replace Horo as a person.
19. Players who engage in wars have for whatever reason decided that this is the best course to take with their nation. It is morally no different than a person that chose to stay a tech farm or someone who neglected tech purchases or someone who played in any other manner that is not focused on growth. For all these other things, there also is no compensation. It is your job to look after your nation, not the RPs. It is your self-responsibility. And neutrals are not like people staying in peace mode, they are still open to potential attacks from rogues and other alliances. Neutrality is a decision of alliance foreign policy and comes with advantages and disadvantages. And as a foreign policy approach to security it should not be penalised, just as it is not differentiated whether you sit in an alliance that is more on the periphery and avoids most wars while not being strictly neutral, or in an alliance that is in the center and gets regularly done in or an alliance of raiders who are in almost constant war for whatever reason. So, complaint dismissed. Find something new, because this point will not be considered for any reform, it does not feature as exact rule in any RP and I'm pretty sure it won't ever find a proper majority.
20. These are rules to limit expansion to prevent blobs. Of course, if you are of the opinion such states are necessary or that the invisible hand of spreading thin and aggravating others will take care of overexpansion, feel free to not tick the box. I didn't tick it for my part...
21. That's "Technology must be restricted to current technology and only working systems should be usable.", if it is a failed (sales-wise) system that has been build in small number only for demonstration or "Technology must be restricted to current technology, though people should be able to use own creations, provided they can prove their stuff to be feasable" if it is proven in concept only.
22. Just a short survey to gauge opinion on a few matters. Notes First question should be answered on a basis of what you think is absolutely necessary, not what all would be fun. Set priorities and try to point out what you think has absolute vital importance. This question establishes priorities. Second question is on technology and customisation. For better understanding the options are ordered in increasing severity. Lastly, a matter of naval sizes. Votes are not binding, but it might be useful to know what people think. Comments contributing to reforms are appreciated, insults and sniping are not. Dumb behaviour will be ignored.
23. Although Tsushima was not that great for sightseeing and lacked the glamour of most older Japanese towns, it still had a history. Mostly, a history of being the conduit for diplomacy between the Koreans and the Japanese for centuries. Positioned in the Strait that seperated them, it had long been a station along the trade routes and a strategic position for expeditions. Thus, Prime Minister Akiyama chose the island as a proper meeting point between the two nations. A local conference center would be used, the interior refurbished some to give it a more appropriate appearance and the flags of both Korea and Japan be flown to honour the guest. Taking the Shinkansen to Fukuoka and then a regional flight to Tsushima Airport, Akiyama would be arriving on the morning of the meeting, to oversee the last few preparations, before awaiting the Korean President's arrival.
24. Over the coming days, another note would be sent to the Russians, stating that the Japanese Empire would send as its representant Akasaka-Panina Eriko, a young diplomat and hāfu from Toyohara. Akasaka-Panina would be given considerable authority to negotiate agreements, and Hatsuharu Kenji, a young Japanese Army intelligence officer was to accompany her, in order to serve as advisor on security matters. Not Public While the Prime Minister was busy and Minister of Foreign Affairs Nakamichi was touring the Americas, Akasaka-Panina who was the daughter of a local ethnic Russian businessman and the daughter of the local governor Akasaka Eiji. Thus, while the Russian minority in Karafuto was politically insignificant in Tokyo, Akasaka Panina still held enough ties to industry and conservative elite to manage a career in the diplomatic corps at a young age, due to her grandfather's influence. Yet, while family ties secured her a post, the Akasaka name still was tied to Karafuto Prefecture, one of the most rural places of the country and it was thus unsurprising that for most conservatives, she was a mixed-blood outsider, for most liberals she was just in her office due to nepotism and her career would not advance, unless she could show results. Results she hoped to make in this great opportunity, given the importance of the Northern Frontier for Japan.
