1. And regardless of whether the CB was just or not, CN has been holding its collective breath for quite a while looking for a war. So in this case, I'm sure there were people on both sides looking for the diplomacy to fail, just so they could send in the troops.
2. Best of luck to our brothers in GATO. Think on the bright side...your free!
3. Well, you sure do state your opinions with confidence...
4. lol it was both. After all, this summer COULD use a war, but the sarcastic part is that the war going on as we speak could BECOME the war you are looking for.
5. Well be careful what you ask for, we might just get one soon
6. *claps hands* well played sir. I must admit, this comment I posted was more a way to see how you would respond than anything else. I find myself in the rare position of saying that I agree with you on this article. However, what I do object to is lumping both the Super friends and C&G into one group. If this were the actions of the entire new hegemony, then we would have both allies arrayed against the NSO. As you can see however, we do not. So, for this event until further notice it is probably safer to refer to them as separate entities.
7. I agree with HHAYD. Yes RoK was overly aggressive, but the NSO should have investigated rather then jumping to conclusions and backing him without any thought to what the situation was.
8. I just don't understand Vlad, how you can sit here and condemn people for actions which you supported in the NPO and Continuum. Yes, this is a curbstomp, but your precious NPO would have done the same (and did). Saying "the NPO made mistakes" won't save you this time, because you yourself supported it. Frankly I find this blog (while well written to be sure) rather silly. After all, you'r side has LOST. The NPO and its allies are dead in the political scene, and no amount of fear mongering against Karma on your part is going to bring them back to power. I'm not quite sure whether you are hoping for a glorious Pacifican revolution or something, but thats not happening any time soon. My advice? Accept that neither side is moral, and stop preaching like the NPO is pure and right.
9. Very well thought out, as no one else has ever taken this approach to the world war cycle. Also, i didn't get the impression that the C&G "overthrew" Karma. To me it seemed that they simply rose to power along with the Superfriends after several wars because as Karma was breaking, up no alliances challenged them. Maybe im being overly literal, but I was curious as to your choice of words.
10.
It could be you. It could be me. It could even be *soldier blows blue spy's head off*
ahhh the sweet sound of team fortress references...
11. Lol it depends on whether you're planning on joining the red team
12. Emperor Cortath, I, Snibbmaster, accept your apology. You see, I frankly couldn't care what your alliance chooses to do. I am not a belligerent. Simply an observer.
13. well you are right Aimee. Another aspect I didn't get into was that IF the NPO apologizes, the current powerbloc has no excuse for calling them dangerous. In essence, the current alliances are using the position that the NPO hasn't changed to intimidate the members (as you said). But if the NPO apologizes, the reasoning the bloc gives its nations for that tactic is shot out from under them. It would then make the current power bloc the bad guy. See what I mean?
14. very true, but if the NPO wants to see a change, they need to work at it themselves. Admitting you are wrong is hard, but it is also the first step to recovery.
15. Uralica: That is a very good point, and there are going to be those in NPO who don't feel bad. But I am specifically addressing those who complain about the Anti Pacifican attitude. Vlad: As I tried to explain, an apology means nothing without action behind it. YES, words are cheap, but they are only cheap until something is done. Frankly I'm sorry to say I've seen no change in NPO policy yet apart from what has been forced in treaties. The article you posted seems like just another excuse to explain why people are angry with your actions. EDIT: to respond to both parties
16. I love blogs. I try to read them whenever I can, and I feel I've gotten to know the politics of CN through blogs better then I could know it by myself. One topic that seems to appear a lot on the boards these days is Anti- Pacificanism. But looking through the blogs and associated responses, I think I may have found just the answer to this growing phenomenon. Now I can't profess to love the NPO, but I would be lying if I told you that I still hated it. Sadly, not everyone shares my "give everyone an equal chance" opinion on this matter. Quite a few people I know still harbor some Karma based hatred for the NPO, and aren't about to forgive them any time soon. On the other side of the fence, many Pacificans wonder why they haven't been forgiven, and why that at least some of the world still harbors distrust for them almost a year after the War. This seems to be because in apart, the NPO still believes a lot of its policy previous to the Karma war was/still is appropriate. After all, no one is going to forgive you if you haven't changed. So, if the NPO wants world approval again, it seems to me that the only way is to issue a statement wherein NPO recognizes its actions prior to the Karma war were aggressive and in many cases ill-founded. It should also include that it will work to correct the damaged relationships, and redefine the image of the NPO as a AA that works WITH the global community rather then lording OVER it. Now I know what I just said is blasphemy to some, and pride in your AA is key in CN, but just hear me out. After all, this policy has worked in REAL LIFE in the past. Consider this: when Nazi Germany was defeated at the end of WWII, the United States and all of the Allied Powers made the German government admit that their actions during the years 1930 to 1944 were unjust, aggressive and wrong. As part of the Marshall Plan the German government complied. They issued their apology, and have since worked tirelessly to redeem themselves in the eyes of the international community. It has worked very well, and in the 21st century they are once again a respected country. Now I wouldn't dare compare the actions of the NPO to Nazi Germany, but my point in telling you this story is to show that the only way the NPO can possibly recover its image short of another global domination is to simply admit they were wrong. Then, they have to change their policy to fit with the current global situation. In the above story, the Germans were so successful in changing their image because they worked tirelessly to change their policy. They banned white supremacy, apologized to world powers and promoted the rich history of Germany before the Nazi era (while at the same time never forgetting the lessons of the past). They worked to become a respected democracy and change their interactions with other countries, and in time, people began to think of them as "the place rich in European history and culture", rather then "the place where Nazis came from". The reason that the NPO is remembered as "the alliance that abused its power and subjugated everyone" is because they have done nothing to prove to people they have changed their ways. So to close I will leave you with this quote by Lynn Johnston "apologies are the SuperGlue of life. It can repair just about anything." In the end, the NPO and its members can take my advice or leave it, but they have to know that making excuses for their actions only garners them more distrust and disapproval. If the people of the NPO want to be recognized not for their past mistakes, but for their present actions, they should just say sorry.
17. The only problem I have with this article is that some of the accusations against the alliances you point out are very sweeping. They may be true, but that is never a safe way to right an article.
18. Well I can't help but detect a slight whiff of that good old spice we call propaganda in this article, despite what you said about this being neutral.
19. And of course morality is all about perspective. saying that something isn't moral is from your perspective only.
20. I see, thank you for clarifying that. However, you can't blame the whole for the actions of the few. Although I do agree that they could be making a bigger fuss about MKs actions, that is politics for you.
21. So correct me if i am wrong, as my alliance has nothing to do with this, but isn't the Red Safari funded and assisted by a number of non aligned alliances? True the C&G are turning their heads, but then again the goal of the C&G is not to intervene in international affairs not concerning them right? Also if the NPO is concerned, what aren't they more active in Red Dawn now?
22. well I am glad you have taken a neutral view point on most of your issues. Otherwise you'd have a lot of people disagreeing Ktarthan does make a point. Not to mention alliances like GOONS have a history of radical activity and thinking, and frankly im not sure this completely fits the opinion of all the alliances "in control". EDIT: to add second point
23. Vlad you seem to be a very intelligent person, who can think quite deeply into these situations (this is a genuine compliment ) So I am curious (in part because a lot of these opinion pieces are yours)if you feel that the former actions of the Hegemony and allies from the end of GW3 till the Karma war were "JUST". Considering your position within NPO, im curious how you dislike/justify their actions. EDIT: fix a typo
24. I agree on a lot of these points. But I would also point out that the non moral actions of what you call the "new hegemony" (which some would argue doesn't exist) mirror those of the real hegemony (1V, Initiative) before the Karma War. It is all a matter of perspective. The group in power is going to do whatever needs to be done to stay in control with itself on top. Is it right? NO. Is it what is happening? Yes. I only regret that not all of the Karma alliances choose to keep the ideals they had during the war.
