  1. OK, time to call it a day.

  2. No further treatment need... this is good!

So I have finally managed to survive the rigours of the OBR to be knighted. Beware my vengeful gauntlet!

  3. Nice to see you carrying the GOLD alliance name there, Mach.

  4. May your summer be a splendid one, young Aleksander.

  5. Machiabelly is one damn nice person on CN. Stella (King Hubert) of Schnitzelburg at the OBR is full of pastry and baked goods niceness.
  6. Congratulations to my old friends in NEAT getting their groove thing back. I wish you all well for the future. Don't forget to call occasionally.
  7. On a hilltop overlooking a green valley a lone figure can be seen with a horse tethered nearby. *W_A_R of Vijar stretches his legs then eases his back, all of which is fairly challenging when one is almost swaddled in chainmail. While trying a particularly difficult 'greet the sun' manoeuvre the sound of breaking wind fractures the peaceful air. W_A_R turns and chastises his destrier, Daffodil, for the offense. Daffodil looks up from cropping the grass, nickers back at her owner with distain and resumes eating, obviously used to being blamed for the flatulence of her rider. News had reached the Squire of the Black Rose that their close friends and allies, The Greenland Republic was celebrating an anniversary. W_A_R finished his morning's flexing, walked over to Daffodil and extracted a small rolled writing set from his saddle bag. Settling himself comfortably under a shady tree, he took up pencil and parchment and began to sketch. When he was satisfied with the outcome, W_A_R penned a quick note of congratulations to Celtic and the fine members of the Republic. "May our friendship continue unabated" he said to himself as he sealed his message and prepared to set off to the nearest messenger post.
  8. Bloody hell! 1000 plus days, eh! I must get some perspective.

IRL the person behind the character W_A_R has had a little surgery to remove some unwanted tissue. Awaiting news whether further treatment is required, hopefully not.

  9. I pass on my best wishes to AO for their successful and safe return from this new conflict. Daffodil and I only managed a couple of tilts before the white kerchief fluttered to the ground from our opponent. I didn't even get to unleash my unholy trebuchette and Daffodil's more noxious emmissions upon my former enemy.
  10. *W_A_R nudges forward his destrier, Daffodil, so that he may have a better view of the field before him. My heart is warmed by the reinstatement of the Concordium Sed Nobis.
  11. It would be remiss of me not to record my presence in this thread. Hello all.
  12. Hello, young Schattenmann.

You appear to have created quite a following these past few months and I am not surprised at all. Lugosi would have been proud. :)

  13. TBH Page Craven, I looked up your nation.
  14. *W_A_R believes this thread needs more air time. A lot of new names there for this former CON member apart from that of Bobboman and the very smooth King Leroy of Hemiola. May CON continue her graceful path along the highways of Digiterra without the undue advances of brigands and ne'er-do-wells.
  15. I love my CN grudges (in a purely non-sexual, humane and appropriate IC manner). They are great virtual CN pets that thrive on the little bitterness I can feed them daily; or perhaps even weekly if I have been a little neglectful. *W_A_R looks over shoulder in case CN Grudge Welfare Officers are loitering the thread. I find a great deal of pleasure scooping my pricky buggers up and giving them a good hard hug; even though they do have a nasty tendency to put runs in my hose and mess up the living room rug. Just remember, folks. Occasionally a grudge needs to be let out of its confinement and be provided the chance to run free with the pet grudges of others. This is a healthy thing which can often lead to the propagation of the species.

Time for Admin to develop a Doomsday device, I say. $1 Billion to purchase and $1 million a day to maintain. Destroys 50% infrastructure, 50% tech, specifc improvements and wonders. EDIT - Missed a million thereabouts.
  17. Don't let obligation stand in your way, New Reverie. Sharpen your pencil and let the witticism flow.
  18. Your Imperial Majesty. Sir Bumpy of the Order of the Black Rose wishes to convey his respects but does not have forum access at this time. The good Knight is still about and lurks the passages of the Black Keep muttering to himself. It is not unusual to find him sleeping in the most odd of places. He is loved by us. With respect, Squire W_A_R Edit - for clarity.
  19. Do you recollect the 'Redneck Entente'? You should reform and take possession of this world proper.
  20. I am W_A_R of Vijar. I've been about a bit and have a predilection for journal writing and carrot cake, with or without kittens and children. Also, hello.
  21. Don't be offended, baseballer790. I recall your membership and have seen you about at public meetings, or is it that I have heard of you being mentioned at public meetings? My hearing is not what it once was though my memory is as sharp as a brick. I'm sure those folks with the flaming torches and pitchforks were mouthing your name. Wearing a helmet has its advantages and disadvantages. A distinct advantage is that it disguises my rather unfortunate appearance; the disadvantage is that all I hear is the sound of the ocean. Damn well makes one want to go to the privy at inconvenient times. Back on topic, as the old GOLD sage and guru (albeit, Machiabelly may be a better holder of that title), may I apologise to Nintenderek for him being the butt of many a joke and disparaging remark, particularly from former members of GOLD, including myself. It is a shame that his history includes such weighty baggage. One thousand days of existence is an accomplishment for congratulations and accordingly I extend congratulations to him on behalf of all those who once graced the halls of GOLD.
  22. *W_A_R eases his back with a series of stretches. Grooming his destrier, Daffodil is no easy thing given her appalling flatulence and preponderance towards sudden kicks in confined places. W_A_R's confined place had been sorely tested during the exercise. It is a pleasure to follow up my fellow Squire's announcement to offer my hearty congratulation to Jacquescousteau and JohnWinthrop. May you find pleasure in the service of the Rose.
  23. *W_A_R idly wonders whether Daffodil would be up to a test run of the secret weapon. Perhaps not. The thread is already soiled and odious as it is. I assume you are a re-roll, WhatOnceWas, as your current nation certainly hasn't been around long enough to have any degree of specific knowledge of GOLD and the competence (or lack thereof) of the leadership or membership. You say that you were in 'better' alliances at the time. 'Better' is such a subjective term and is coloured by one's personal experience. What aspect of your alliance was better? How did you come to that conclusion? On what basis do you make the assertation that GOLD was a 'disaster area' and a 'running joke'? From my personal experience (and yes, my views are biased) in the early days of GOLD, up to and just after the alliance was sanctioned, it was a great place to be involved with. Sure it was flawed, but it was neither incompetent nor a joke. There was a committed leadership and membership, all striving to make the alliance one to be proud of. Sadly, as it often happens, key membership left, individual rather than collective objectives were pursued, consequently the vision of GOLD became blurred and inevitably there were several stumbles before the final end. To give him his dues, Nintenderek has always been keen and enthusiastic to play his part in building whatever Alliance he happens to be in. His personality and manner can be 'challenging' to some and he can easily polarise opinions of him. He is not the first ruler to do so and surely will not be the last. He is one of many former GOLD members that have moved on to other alliances and other projects, a substantial number of whom I would not hesitate to call upon should I be establishing a new Alliance (some have posted in this thread). We all grow and learn (well most of us; a handful just keep on making the same old dumb mistakes). However, if we are talking of entertainment value, I recall that Vladimir Stukov II had a pretty entertaining start to life. You may even want to ask him about it.
  24. *W_A_R shifts his weight in the saddle of his destrier, Daffodil; a stout horse of a forgiving nature but with an almost unforgivable flatulence ailment. He wrinkles his nose and gags; not for the first time today. Now if he could just harness Daffodil's noxious nature to provide an advantage in battle. W_A_R ponders the tactical ramifications. Ah, Nintenderek. I see you still enjoy the mild notoriety you have garnered for yourself over the millenium of days subconsciously filling you lungs on Digiterra. It surprises me that although I have been in the service of the Black Rose for well over a year now, surpassing my combined time in GOLD and CON, I hold and cherish many a sweet and intimate memory of those GOLDen days. Oh, how I have grown since those times and (as I'm sure Machiabelly would agree) there are many a thing I would have changed in hindsight. Nevertheless, what is done is done; what is past is past. The Order is my home now and I am ever honoured to be numbered with such worthy company. I have taken a passing interest in your post GOLD activities, and you must admit that it is hard not to venture far before you stumble across an incident or thread that you have been involved in, making it far easier for the casual observer to follow your Digiterran career. May you enjoy your next 1000 days as much, if not more than your first. May your steed, whether thoroughbred or donkey, always serve you well.
  25. What a curious nation name you have there, General Specific. A little like your own name which says much without saying anything at all. I'm not one for digging up the past (and I'm certain yours would be very entertaining) but I would love to know the source of your nation's nomenclature. Oh, please enjoy your honeymoon period on Digiterra. I hear that there are many attractive places to visit this time of year.
