  1. Honestly I'd consider it a favor if anybody did surrender, but I can't imagine we have a lot of dead weight if any at the moment. You'd think a nuclear war that lasted as long as it did would take out most of it. Good luck in your fight, it's always nice to see treaties being honored.
  2. Seems I missed the party. I must say that I am glad to see the conclusion of this war. I am proud of the VE for our defense of our ally, OV, and of our allies that stood by us in the face of incredible odds. While negotiation over surrender terms seemed to drag on, I feel it was important to come to an agreement on both sides. Now to see what will shape the future of Planet Bob. Edit: OOC: Guess it's time to change my sig back to its previous state.
  3. Honestly Random, I don't know if you're still bitter over us dropping NpO (which if anything I would've done faster considering the circumstances, but that's another discussion) but canceling treaties is rare for us. Such things are not done lightly, and never have been.
  4. You know, I seem to be quite popular, cause I've been the only one of Triyun's three attackers to have been counterattacked. Let the good times roll, so to speak.
  5. Hey there Triyun. This war ought to be a good one. And nice to see you join in, Iamthey. I haven't had a proper counterattack on my nation on this scale in well ... ever. Should be fun.
  6. Building relations with friends is a wonderful thing.
  7. This is one treaty I'm honestly sad to see go. One moment I thought it could be salvaged, and the next .... Why is it always the Orange alliances that break my heart? We had such good times together ....
  8. Relationships between alliances are never static. They change over time, for the better or for worse. Recently, certain situations have brought to light some clear differences between ourselves and some of those with whom we hold high level treaties, causing us to rethink our ties. Last night, we were notified by IRON that our treaty with them was canceled, and at the same time reinforcing a notion we have had for some time. Some may argue that perhaps the reasoning gave by them was not their true reason for canceling, however we can assure you that this list which I state below is Viridia's sole motive in ending the following pacts. We do not wish to veil our motives nor misrepresent a fairly simple situation. As such, after the conclusion of the cancellation clauses prescribed by each treaty, the following are considered void: The Viridian Entente does not wish to be allied to those whose support will only be given when they deem fit. The Viridian Entente does not wish to be allied to those who attempt to use political pressure to influence our sovereign actions. The Viridian Entente does not wish to be allied to those who cannot be honest, forthright, and frank with us about their intentions and reasoning. As such, after the conclusion of the cancellation clauses prescribed by each treaty, the following are considered void: -The Christmas Accords -The Hell’s Frozen Over Pact -The Peter Piper Picked a Peck of Pickled Peppers Pact. To our former allies, we wish you only the best. On a semi related Note, the Viridian Entente wishes to issue the following message to The International, Signed, Cornelius Lord Solaris Duke SonOfHoward Secretary of State Impero Secretary of Defense God of Salt Secretary of the Interior
  9. Sad to see such stalwart allies as these two part ways. Good luck to our friends in OV and TORN.
  10. Honestly I play this game for my friends, and for a certain set of ideals, both of which I happen to find in the same alliance. Now, I have friends in many other places too, one of the reasons I love working FA. Edit: @Salmia, Ejay said it was understandable to stand by your allies in public, but at the very least to be honest to their face, in private if need be.
  11. Thank you Craig for this apology. May everyone involved learn from this.
  12. CN never ceases to amaze me. When I logged off yesterday, this was a 3 page thread that was rather civil, and it appeared the issue was taken care of. I log on today to find it at 45 pages, and by the time I got through everything another 16 had appeared. Allow me to explain myself. Our relations with shane, including recent ones, had been nothing if not cordial. We heard he had left GGA, so purely out of concern for him and not for anything else I decided to extend a hand of protection from raiders. He obviously would've been a target at his strength. We gathered details about what had happened, and even spoke to ironchef about it. Shane had been reluctant to accept our protection, even editing anything in his AA or bio to reflect it, but iron herself said she was glad that we were protecting him. I assumed that this meant that GGA had no issues with his nation, and shane decided to apply to the VE. His application was approved, and from iron's reaction I saw no reason to override it. Honestly I would've asked for a lock on the thread as soon as it was posted (seeing as how it was geared towards potential raiders and nobody else) if there was such a thing as author's rights anymore. I think it's gone off-topic, but the mods have posted a couple of times to the contrary and so it's their decision that it stays open. For those saying this could've been handled in private, I feared for shane's nation (he was reluctant to involve us) and trying to contact every potential raider in CN is not practical in the least.
  13. Circumstances are always different. We felt the ones in this particular case warranted this action.
  14. The Viridian Entente is hereby protecting the nation of Central Confederacy until further notice by myself. Thank you, and that is all. Cornelius Lord of the Viridian Entente
  15. Oh, Srqt, you know where your true home is. B) Speaking of GW3 though, I remember the first night. We knew ahead of time that LoSS and one other alliance was hitting us, but we had no idea who the other alliance was. LoSS's DoW was no surprise, and we already had plans for it. But there was a good deal of apprehension over who else was coming. All of sudden /b/ started mass-declaring on us and our private channel erupted in a mass of profanity and confusion. They had long been rivals of ours and tensions had flared, but we never thought they'd actually break their neutrality and attack us. Not to mention useing sanctions for the first time in war against our top bankers. That didn't sit well with us at all, which led to the announcement that we'd fight until /b/ was disbanded. Overall though GW3 was the most fun I've had in war in this game. The camaraderie I shared with my fellow Viridians, tearing through LoSS's and /b/'s upper ranks, was among the epitomes of the game for me. Our lower ranks were outnumbered and hammered throughout the conflict, but we prevailed.
  16. I'll admit I laughed. Let's see, I stumbled across CN the day after GW1, but I wasn't really active until I got raided. That led me to join the VE less than a month later, where I stayed through our disbandment. I fought one GATO nation (turns out their diplomat to us thought it'd be a good idea to attack us, was funny) and one NAAC nation (though the cease-fire was called before he could retaliate) in GW2. I was actually surprised cause I had been fairly inactive for over a month, just collecting taxes every few days or so, but nobody bothered to attack me. GW3 was another story, I fought mainly LoSS and we tore through their upper ranks. Got nuked for the first time there. Went back to the VE when we reformed mid-UJW and have been there ever since. All of you ex-Viridians that I see posting here are welcome to return, except Chickenzilla.
  17. I'm just glad this is up. To a brighter future! :some sort of toasting smilie:
  18. We stand behind our allies in IRON for what must have been a difficult decision. Betrayal of those you've trusted hits harder than most.
  19. Just a slight correction. The VE disbanded on May 25, 2007 and reformed on September 16, 2007. That's around 3 months and 3 weeks or just shy of 4 months. Considering most of the core members from before the disbandment joined the reincarnation, it was essentially the same alliance (just smaller obviously). The community remained tightly knit even though we weren't under the same AA (many of us still flew our flag though).
  20. When Sponge can laugh at this, there is hope for the world.
