Zoomzoomzoom Posted June 11, 2010 Report Share I can remember when alliances made aid trains to spread out aid and you got an insanely small amount of it. My incentive to join my first alliance was $50,000. By the time it got to me it came as $100,000, $50,000 of it to go to another new member. I nearly took it all and left. I doubt I'd be here had I done it. haha Quote Link to comment
Gopherbashi Posted June 11, 2010 Report Share I think I got $250,000 as startup aid in late 2006. I nearly treated the guy who gave it to me as a god. Quote Link to comment
Logos Posted June 11, 2010 Report Share My first Post. So was CN changed, or did the world get rich? (It is funny how people don't believe that can happen) Quote Link to comment
supercoolyellow Posted June 11, 2010 Report Share My first Post. So was CN changed, or did the world get rich? (It is funny how people don't believe that can happen) Well, as CN gets older the average nation gets larger. Also when CN first began there wasn't tech dealing to grow your nation, so nations grew quite slow at first. Quote Link to comment
Logos Posted June 11, 2010 Report Share That is so cool!!! It works like the real world. World wide wealth grows. Although if you added up all of the nation's land you would get a really big world. Quote Link to comment
Ghuxalia Posted June 11, 2010 Report Share That is so cool!!! It works like the real world. World wide wealth grows. Although if you added up all of the nation's land you would get a really big world. Actually, it's not even half of Earth's landmass, last time I checked. Most nations don't bother buying excessive amounts of land. Edit: plural=/=possessive Quote Link to comment
Chief Savage Man Posted June 11, 2010 Report Share I got one million dongs from the Mighty Pump in November 2006. It was like christmas came early. Also Ghuxalia, I'm assuming you simply added up the number under land and went with that as square mileage. Remember that it refers to the diameter of the nation and not the area (a rather silly mechanic but makes the google map feature simpler I suppose). You have to divide that number by two, square it and multiply it by pi to get the true figure. Quote Link to comment
Moridin Posted June 11, 2010 Report Share When I joined the NPO in August 2006, getting your harbor aid was a big deal. That was really the only aid you expect to get. There later was an aid fall where I got $90,000! I was blown away. Quote Link to comment
D34th Posted June 11, 2010 Report Share I remember that when I started, I received $20,000 to trade with Lady Dakota and that was a huge amount Quote Link to comment
Banksy Posted June 11, 2010 Report Share These young'ns complain if we give them less than 15 mill now <__________< In my day.... Quote Link to comment
Logos Posted June 11, 2010 Report Share Well, have they ever changed the amount of aid you can give? Quote Link to comment
Moridin Posted June 11, 2010 Report Share Well, have they ever changed the amount of aid you can give? I think it used to be capped at 1 million, but my memory is a bit fuzzy so if another old player can correct me please do so. Quote Link to comment
HalfEmpty Posted June 11, 2010 Report Share Meh, back in TF! days we didn't get aid. We were handed a raid target and a firm handshake. But that was a long time ago, things were different then. Quote Link to comment

Mr. Teets Posted June 12, 2010 Report Share I think i got 100k for joining my first alliance in early 07. Newbies now get 3mil+ and tech deals. And maybe even informed to reroll if they get furs and wine... *grumbles* Quote Link to comment

Moridin Posted June 12, 2010 Report Share you left out an r there. The formula's pi*r^2. So you can't figure it out. He didn't leave it out, the radius is half the diameter, which he said to find, square, and multiply by pi. Quote Link to comment
Rebel Virginia Posted June 12, 2010 Report Share In 2006 and the first half of 2007 I had a rather large nation. By the standards of those days that is. 1999.99 infra at the start of GWII. Over 3k infra at the start of NPO-FAN. That was a big deal back then. Quote Link to comment
Logos Posted June 12, 2010 Report Share Wow and just imagine 2-3 years from now. Quote Link to comment
Comrade Craig Posted June 12, 2010 Report Share The "problem" is that inflation is rampant because this is a closed economy with not enough ways to spend money. As time progresses, more cash accumulates with no way to burn it off... Hence inflation. From a game design standpoint, the only solutions are: a) introduce more ways to burn off the excess accumulation of money, or b) raise all the aid/transfer caps to account for inflation. -Craig Quote Link to comment
Ghuxalia Posted June 12, 2010 Report Share He didn't leave it out, the radius is half the diameter, which he said to find, square, and multiply by pi. wow I fail at reading. Whatever, school's over, so it doesn't matter. But still, given the sum of the diameters, you can't figure out the total area. 2^2*1000=/=2000^2 Quote Link to comment
