Coursca
OOC: You can't fit 200 kilometers of cable onto a truck, especially if the cable is 20 cm or something thick on average. It's thickest at the middle, in about 40,000-60,000 kilometers height, ~50 centimeters. At the tips, it's about 5 cm thick. It will, in total, weight 30 metric tons. To prevent a micrometeorite destroying the cable and thus destroying the entire structure, three cables are being used, so if one goes kaput, the other two still are usable. If I refer to 'xxxx kilometers of cable have been finished', I mean xxxx kilometers times 3 = xxxx km per cable, of which there are, as said, three. Need anything else? OOC: Then you need to let everyone working on the project know things like this ahead of time. I just assumed I was producing fibers thick enough not to break in transport and that you all would assemble them. Consider those trucks to be convoys of trucks, then. USNA
Our production efforts into Carbon Nanofiber production has been in it's early stages at best. If there is a method of more efficient mass production we'd be happy to begin construction on such factories. OOC: Sorry. ^^'' I kinda forgot that, and I've just read too much about the topic, assuming everyone else did, too. The first Imperial shipments are being sent aboard a Supertanker. IC: We eagerly are awaiting it. OOC: You *did+ send it to Saboria, yes? I have to get it into space with shuttles. Lynneth
Once again an update for all participants. 100% of the ground structures are completed. Approxiately 20% of the Elevator's base has been completed. Construction of the Space Station is in process. 3% has been completed. Approximately 9,000 kilometers of cable are done. Now that other nations have finished their facilities for producing the cable, reaching the needed amount will be much easier and quicker. 91,000 kilometers are still needed. Lynneth
A satellite in a geostationary orbit has made a picture of how Bob would look like if viewed from the space station, which would be roughly 62,000 kilometers above Bob's surface. Below is a slightly edited picture, where the clouds have been removed by making several pictures and piecing them together into a big one. Edit: OOC: Picture courtesy GoogleEarth. <3 Edited November 30, 2008 by Lynneth

Apollo11
U.R.P.R. is looking into creating a space program to assist in the construction of the station. Also our carbon fiber construction plants are almost complete and will begin sample tests to ensure maximum quality.

Also, apparently the space thing is useless because people usually get tech from sellers and don't buy it themselves. Read guides or whatever, lol. Apollo11
As of yet we are looking into expanding our airport for the job by using reusable space planes. We will release information as it comes up.
Lynneth
As of yet we are looking into expanding our airport for the job by using reusable space planes. We will release information as it comes up. We would recommend not expanding an airport, but building an entire spaceport from scratch. This makes it much easier to fit it for your needs. We did it that way.
HHAYD
We are unable to assist in this grand project due to rouge sea pirates armed with 3 modern battleships, a submarine and a destroyer that are hijacking any ships that are in the middle part of the Atlantic Ocean, including our ships. Our harbors have been shut down due to extreme fears of being attacked again after our South Heska Harbor have been destroyed and our North Heska Harbor have been torpedoed by the rouge sea pirates. Unless we receive heavy naval support to expel the pirates and for patrolling and heavy naval escorts for our ships, we are unable to assist this project. A carrier battlegroup will be sent to take care of these pirates. A carrier and two railgun-equipped battleships should be more than enough to take care of these 'modern' battleships, while the escort ships should easily take care of the submarine and destroyer. XRCatD
The Wanatet Corporation is very interested in this project and wants to do all it can to keep this project going. Lynneth
The Wanatet Corporation is very interested in this project and wants to do all it can to keep this project going."How can we help?" There are various possibilities how you can help. First, you could simply send monetary help which we will use to purchase materials needed for construction of the space station and the elevator cable. Second, you could send coal or other raw materials which we can use for the space station and the cable. Third, you can ask for the blueprints for facilities that will produce the cable. Note that these facilities are highly specialised and can't be converted for any other use. OOC: I also am assuming you read the entire thread and thus know the info in it.
