Bwyard Posted January 28, 2014 Report Share Posted January 28, 2014 So, I am reforming lafayette Escadrille, a fromer TE alliance, and i was working on making a new flag and making a new avatar when i discovered something ive never noticed before. The Lafayette Escadrille symbol, which is not my choosing, its the symbol used by the french miliatry in world war for LE, contains a swastika on the gold medalion of the Indian head. here is the link to a photo of the banner used after the war in a memorial service, the image is from a military website. http://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/shared/media/photodb/photos/111102-F-DW547-001.jpg my question is do i need to alter the insiginia if im using it in sigs and avatars? I think the problem is that the Nazi swastika is of the perception that it is the prevalent form of the swastika and not of the history of the symbol in general. It has to be shooped out in any imagery. when it says swatstikas cant be used its refering to nazi ones, so thats why im asking its part of the history and insigina of the historical group, also considering it will probably barely be noticable, i really wanted to know a mod or admins opinion and if i am safe to use it or not.
