Good BlueGrassMotherland My original GPA mentor. A few days indeed. Gentle Persons I have been blessed with but two loves on Digiterra my first the GPA and my current one The Order of the Black Rose. My original home the GPA was one I was very proud of. It saddened me to leave but The Impala and I were just not meant to be. I have great respect for almost everyone i interacted with in GPA. I was proud of the way they held to their principles in the GPA war. I am afraid my opinions on right and wrong were not suited to the Valid Presidency and being such a shy and reserved type I may not have shown to be his greatest supporter. It is a privilege to have gone from one honourable alliance sadly to a new one that exemplified the values that are the Best of GPA and OBR . Respectfully Squire Hime Themis

Gentle Persons It is both amusing and sad to see that our announcement of a formal and honourable peace for all those involved has provoked discord. We honour our allies for their hard work and effort that preceded our entrance due to our treaty obligations. We honour our opponent OG a friend who found themselves on the opposite side and fought hard and well. We admire those who stand by their convictions on either side of this war. We may not share your point of view at the moment but this does not invalidate it. We like the cut of the jib of those who found themselves on the same side we arrived at and we respect the metal that the opposition has proven in this fire. Old friends like the Citadel shall have reason for confab after the conflict and we wish them well. We also wish those who found themselves as we did fighting old friends the restraint to remember that sometimes friend disagree and end up fighting but the best friendships are not based on easy living but on shared maladies. Gentle Persons I am very sad and disappointed that there is some degree of question of our diligence in the manner that we have conducted ourselves. To clarify I am sure the people of OV are good people, I am certain that NPO is not the Devil Incarnate having dealt with some good and honest people there. While that conflict seems to have initiated some treaties it did not initiate any for us. I am sure they are all lovely people but frankly our only treaty is with GR. Thus the only people we fight to defend are GR. Let me state once again for the record, we respect OG for honouring their perceived duties under their set of treaties. We admire the many honourable nations that make up the OG. We count OG among our list of friends and hope to keep them on that list after this conflict is complete. While some may include a timeline that starts with the dispute between OV and NPO, I am sorry to say that, that event was not part of our decision making timeline. We posted our cancellation and re-signing with GR a full day ahead of the OG declaration of war. We choose to honour the terms of our cancelled treaty by waiting 7 days. We posted the DOW and Rules of engagement directly on the OG forum and PMd them directly to you Reyne 5 minutes before our Public OWF post and 6 minutes before our attacks began. Perhaps this is not a lot of time but we have tried to set the standard of fairness by posting our DOW with our adversary FIRST before attacks and before posting on the OWF. We had hoped since OG had cancelled their treaty with NPO that they might not even be involved. We had hoped that are public posting of the CSN with GR would dissuade others from attacking GR. Sadly this did not occur. Do we hold any animus with OG for honouring the spirit of their treaties? Hardly in fact we are impressed with their courage in the face of adversity but please give us the same respect when fair and honest warning was provide well before the actions that precipitated this conflict. Chaining concerns are unfair in this case I believe. To OG fight well its is an honour to cross swords with you. We await the re-establishment of friendship on the other side should we triumph or falter. If any thinks we aim to destroy any culture or alliance particularily OG they had better re-read the terms of engagement any attempt to do so will be swiftly met with ardent oppositon from the OBR. Gentle Persons of Digiterra The nature of past conflicts has led our Order to examine our place in Digiterra and determine that our path of reserve has led some to see us as aloof. This has caused us to watch as our closest brother drifted away and became embroiled in conflict that we could not in honor help. To our first comrades we have re-engaged the Concordium Sed Nobis and it would appear this has tossed us directly into the current conflict. Such are the vagaries of war. We will honor our obligations to this treaty despite its unwanted consequences. We will defend our brethren in the Greenland Republic with the duty that we have chosen from long friendship and camaraderie. We find ourselves very sadly facing a former Writ signatory on the field of battle, yet we will fight with fervor and respect. The Writ de Credo having been dissolved at 9:15 AM April 21st, 2009 and our duty to our word of 7 days of notification having been fulfilled, we, the Order of Black Rose, now find ourselves duty bound to honor our obligations to our brethren of the Greenland Republic. To that end we serve public notification to our foe, The Old Guard, of this declaration of war. This declaration has been sent directly to The Old Guard, before its' public release, as suits our sense of responsibility to friend as well as foe. We look to engage you in combat upon the field of honor without rancor or dislike. It is a sad duty a soldier must perform when faced with an admirable foe, but it is one that our opponent has honorably taken up with due notice of our treaty. So to them we raise our lances in salute and brace our shields to receive them. We fight for honor as do our opponents. The Order will neither seek nor accept reparations. 2. The Order will work to see no PZI from others and reject for ourselves any PZI to any who fight this war with honor. 3. This Order will accept the responsibility to rebuild friends on either side of the conflict upon its conclusion. 4. Combat is a serious affair to be carried out with respect and dignity. The Order will not allow its members to engage in trolling, false propaganda, or vilifying any honorable combatant in either camp. Such actions are unbecoming and not worthy of good soldiers. 5. The Order shall not engage in a war without supplying public notification. The Order fights to protect and not to gain from aggression. Dignity and respect, though diminished on Digiterra, shall be observed. 6. Sanctions are reserved for the most egregious of offenses. They shall not be employed in the fair execution of war. 7. Upon the resolution of conflict, those of both sides who showed the friendship and dignity we admired before will find our halls open. We will welcome old friends who fought on either side to the new tomorrow and to renewed bonds of friendship. There is no way to seek battle with happiness or pleasure. Gentle Persons of Digiterra War has once again come to stain the fabric of Digiterra. The Order of the Black Rose watches with sadness as friend faces friend in combat. Good nations on both sides shall see suffering and pain, some will perish. It comes to one who does not re-examine one’s focus, to live in the false shelter of past glory. Recently questions to the honesty and value to our Writ de Credo were brought to light. These accusations wounded us deeply. Thus on April 21, 2009 The Order of the Black Rose dissolved the Writ de Credo and subsequently reinstated the Concordium Sed Nobis. The Writ de Credo had come under speculation, critique and shadow. These needed to be removed. The nature of The Order is to sometimes speak in language that soothes our soul but is found to wanting among others. This will be rectified. The Order will present a new document with cleaner, more direct and more specific language of purpose. No friend ever has need to question the meaning or value of those who choose The Order as ally. To those good alliances who honoured us with first signing the Writ de Credo, we apologize for the seeming speed of its dissolution. Unfortunately one can little choose the politics of the rest of Digiterra and our actions became swept in to the general whirlwind of war. This was not the impetus for our decision nor will the eventual peace be the trigger for the new document. We abide by our obligations under the Writ de Credo. I have a point of view that elicits a negative response from you. I would actually like to know what part of the argument you view differently and what you would suggest as an alternative. Gentle Persons If I may offer a simple thought. The discussion of IC/OOC has really two different aspects. 1. When discussing the use of forums, IRC or other communications sources the line between Real and Game must become blurred. Historical references to situations and historical events that have happened in the Real World are almost a necessity as the nature of those events is vital to a contextual understanding that allows us common ground for discussion. One can relate to the horrors of the Pol Pot regime in Cambodia that leaves little room for debate about the validity of action. Thus giving us all a touch stone that transcends the politics of Digiterra, and prevents an in game event being used as a model yet having different interpretations due to alliance affiliation. For these types of IC/OOC slippages not only do I find them acceptable but necessary to maintain a relevant point of reference for all to use as a base for discussion and maintenance of legitimate working order. How many times have we seen private channels FTW? An utterly ludicrous comment without acknowledgement of the validity of the crossing of IC/OOC. 2. The use of pejoratives, curses or name calling is another aspect of the IC/OOC line. This also manifests itself in the use of OOC information to harass attack or coerce. The most malicious manifestation is of course totally OOC action by on player against another. I am a chess player should that knowledge be used to insult, vilify or harass me then the line between IC/OOC has been breached in a totally inappropriate fashion. Unless my moniker is Boris Spassky any comment about chess players is and should be unacceptable. Similarly unless I chose to name my leader Fanny Hill and attempt to seduce publicly another leader any commentary as to my sexual proclivity is completely out of bounds IC/OOC be damned. There has been far too much freedom allowed to those regardless of NS who feel compelled to defend undefendable behaviour, language or insults as IC. IF I may politely say that is the largest pile of horse droppings I have whiffed in all my visits to the farm. These people are petty and little and the fact that they are sometimes encouraged by others is simply sad. If the best you can come up with is a string of invectives about a person IC/OOC then you are little needed nor wanted in a community that contains so many bright, intelligent and divers individuals. As for the actions of those who choose to cross the line into OOC actions against others, there is little that can be said other than they have become the vilest piece of green tripe imaginable. There are real people out there on the other side of that computer screen. Some are strong some are vulnerable; some secure others with issues they would prefer to forget by enjoying the pleasure and escape of the game of CN. Those who then use information regardless of source ( I do not care if the person in a moment of vulnerability and trust confided RL info) to impugn in game or more atrocious in RL should in my opinion be banned from OWF for In game conduct and banned from the CN permanently for OOC actions. I know there will be those who talk of those who deserve such malicious behaviour for the terrible in game action. Simply Nonsense. No one deserves OOC insults or actions. If they do I feel full confidence in our divine maker the Great Admin to take appropriate actions. This may be a game but these are real people grow some courage and act IC/OOC as if you understand and appreciate the fact that without them we would not be able to enjoy a pastime we seem to be hooked on. The Realm of the Rose is a place unique within our family. Gentle Persons You have read no doubt the words that I have spoken from time to time. I have used language that may seem archaic and misbegotten. Those that have dealt with me will know my word is held sacrosanct and my intent always clear and unequivocal. So let me lose the bonds of arcane language for a moment. I speak not for the Knights that setup the alliance, I speak not for Sir Neboe I speak for Myself who has been in the Order for just over 1 year. Those who have had the pleasure of dealing with the EX- Sir Experimentum will know that his tone and style can be mildly off putting. His departure was not one that covered anyone with glory. His return has been fraught with ego that was all too reminiscent of his past style. I am sure I will now be subject to his withering critique frankly I could care less. Pomposity has been his hallmark so I would expect no less of him than a fine grand standing as he no longer holds sway in the Order. Pity his words on departure hold so hollow now. What ever cute machinactions he may have felt were written into the Writ, I reject any such nefarious intent. I pledge that if in fact there ever was or currently is then I will find myself on the other side of a conflict with the Order. I know the current Order that has until recently been blessed with the absence of Miko. It is this Order I serve. Let the past wail its siren cry. My word is to uphold the spirit of the Writ de Credo and not some fools dream of a Death Cookie. I am prepared to put my word forth for the testing. Gentle Persons Digiterra is a place of ever changing patterns and desires. One constant is the desire that The Order of the Black Rose continues to try to better herself and those who seek her succour. We have been proud to see many noble and honourable nations and alliances show friendship and insight to our benefit. One year ago a venture was begun with these words from our noble Sir Reformentia It is my honor to come before you today to announce a new initiative of the Order of the Black Rose. Throughout the long history of the Order the numbers of its Knights, Squires and Pages have been strictly limited by the stringent entrance criteria which the Order maintains. The Order’s archive of declined supplications is twice the size of its list of those accepted. While Her Majesty and the Order are most pleased with the caliber of member this process has ensured, we have also harbored a desire to see the population of Her Realm expand. The Order has been approached, many times, to offer protectorate status to various nations in need. Many an honorable and virtuous petitioner, men and women the members of the Order would be happy to share home and hearth with in other circumstances, have been turned away from the doors at the Chamber of Supplication due to all manner of conflicts or incompatibilities with the unique cultural environment so rigorously maintained within Her Majesty’s court. How to find a proper place for these worthy individuals without compromising the standards of the Chamber of Supplication or the culture of the Court was a dilemma long wrestled with within the ranks of Her Knights. And then as this last year neared its end STBS atotalstranger, now tragically departed from our world, proposed a solution… and Her Majesty’s subjects have labored to give it form and function since that day. Today the Order opens the gates of Blackwater, a new martial organization under my royally sanctioned questing command. Within its ranks the demanding protocols of the Court do not apply, and so those who may not find themselves suited to passage through the Chamber of Supplication may find that Blackwater offers an environment into which they more readily integrate. Now never let it be said that The Order’s Liege Lady, Knight Protector or Noble Knights follow the path most worn. Many wished us well and wondered quietly at its success. So what has one year wrought? Under the initial guidance of Sir Reformentia and then led by the inestimable Commander Metal some small alliances and some nations came to the fold. How many? Blackwater has proudly grown through hard work and testing by fire to include 50 nations and a nation strength of 1,390,005. While started to allow a broader membership inclusion it has become a gathering of nations no less trained and tested than The Order of the Black Rose herself. They have become truly the finely honed sword of Her Rose and we have all been enriched by the diversity and quality of those who have chosen that path. No question the original vision of Sir Reformentia was met and surpassed as Commander Metal has taken the badge of leadership with pride and zeal. So to our Brothers in Arms we say these words in thanks and celebration of the first Anniversary of our going forth together.
