  1. Elections 4 Years Away, Coolidge Announces Candidacy, Islamic Republic Alive? CAMBRIDGE- As most of us know, the next Presidential Elections will take place in four years, in the year 12 ACI. The "12 ACI Presidential and Congressional Elections of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts", and the third presidential elections, will likely feature incumbent president Maurice J. Tobin with the Democratic party, however besides that, we know very little about the elections. Usually, candidates do not get announced until about two or three years before the elections. However, these elections are different. The situation is different; the Republicans and Harborcrats will likely gang up on the Democratic Party, which will make it nearly impossible to defeat them. In fact, some rumor has it that the Republicans and Harborcrats are merging to create a party that we are coming to know as the Know Nothing Party. These elections will be the most important ones since the very first. Whether or not the merger is actually occurring is unknown at this moment, however the 'Progressive Party' dream could happen, and rather quickly, even. However, today a shocking statement was made by former president Calvin Coolidge, who said: "Our nation needs someone. Someone not wanting to be a ruler, but a servant. That's who we need as our leaders. That's why I want you to take this man, Tobin, our of this office and for me to be given six more years to fix the country, with the help of Percival Baxter." Word on the street is that the Harborcrats have a candidate, who for this year will be Charles F. Hurley, former Massachusetts governor, with Malcolm Nichols running as his vice president. These coming elections will sure be interesting, and we'll see where they go. Finally, at the end of his speech, Coolidge noted that if elected he will take down the Initiative to form the Republic once and for all. Could he be noting IRIM, the Islamic Republic and Initiative of Massachusetts, that bombed Fenway Park almost 4 years ago?
  2. Independence Day Celebrated, Tobin's Thoughts on the Harborcrats SALEM- Today was a very important day in Massachusetts as it was the Fourth of July, also known as American Independence Day. In the year 1776, a small group of colonists fought against the greatest military power on the planet, and won. They became the only nation ever to win independence from the British Empire through war. Obviously, the Harborcratic Party (They changed their name on the ballot about a year ago from just Harbor) Had to step in and hold a celebration. The retired and docked CMS Constitution went into Boston Harbor from the Charlestown Naval Yard, shooting fireworks at around eight o'clock. The Harborcrats, after being mostly inactive since the last election(In which they failed to gain the majority they have hoped for, for the past 4 years.) have finally risen back from the ash below to make Independence Day a national holiday. While the Harborcrats were enjoying themselves that evening, Congress had to hold a special session to discuss how to deal with the current situation. It is thought the session ended at three in the morning. What was decided was that July Fourth, American Independence Day, would become a national holiday in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Tobin arrived at the session around midnight, and spoke in regards to the Harbor Party, "I solely believe that the tens of thousands of Harborcrats in this nation are wrong by all means, about everything but one; this one is the Commonwealth expansion. Besides the Massachusite interpretation of Manifest Destiny, the Harborcrats have no place in our government, and since I, a democrat, believe in the expansion, the Harbor Party should be put to rest." The problem for Tobin was that, with the combined forces of the Harborcrats and the Republicans, they equaled a force much larger than the Democrats and demolished them in voting to create a national holiday that would be remembered for a long time. And, also, Tobin's approval rating dropped three percent by the morning.
  3. "As I said, I hope not to debate about something that happened as far back as 1860. Would you care to move on before this escalates?"
  4. “A home. A Street. A city. A nation. A nation of opportunity and absolute gain.” Said the young man at the podium. “A land built on the rights of you…the people. A nation constructed to allow liberty and absolute justice for you all…through other means.” He proclaimed, standing up taller. “Through successful means, and lord willing, a blessed land indeed. Now let us set our sword in the ground and proclaim this our land!” The man set his fist in the air, revealing his belief in the ideas being set down here. “I, Joseph Alexander, wish for the gratitude of the people of the United Workers Republics as its sovereign and absolute President. The right must, and only will be, established through the economics of absolute socialism and its doctrine. As for the her government,” He looked at the men standing next to him, “I expect no less than a working state in which communism and it’s right be proclaimed and maintained for our generations. Now let the workers of the world unite!” Alexander spoke, smiling to his people. Joseph was a young man; only 23 years old, not very experienced in politics. It was his revolutionary actions to establish a communist rule in the British Isles that gave him his Presidential title rather than skills in the field of politics. He was sitting in his office in Alexandria (Former London) when he got a knock on the door. “Enter” He said. A man dressed in an up-scale military uniform stepped in. “It is time to address the people.” He said. Joseph waited a moment, having a thousand-yard stare before turning and speaking quietly, “Ok. Position snipers on all buildings surrounding the square. Anyone not a supporter is a rebel, and you have permission to operate under black-out clearance. But, if asked, the order didn’t come from me.” Joseph said, speeding up as speaking. “Yes sir,” and the man exited the room. The reason for the up-tight security was Alexander’s first speech as the official President of the United Workers Republics of the British Isles, as its full name was. His paranoia about a possible, and probable, threat to his security gave him the reason to authorize the ‘black-out’ command. This means they have authorization to allow rebels to be shot during the speech. Although it might seem obvious to the surrounding spectators what is really going on, he was doubtful they would truly muster the ability to stand up to the threat, and not to mention the lack of sufficient evidence. Alexander was fully secure. “Good morning workers. I come to you not being as an overlord, but as an equal of your own self simply tasked with the means of carrying out your will.” Cheers would arise from the crowd, and the snipers would attempt to spot anyone not seeming to be as excited as the bunch. “Once I was crowned the…honorable…position of your leader, I told the men around me one thing, and that was that we will succeed, with or without your help. At that moment I will tell you that seven of the men once believing in our nation walked away in disgrace, not absolutely loyal to the state we have constructed.” He looked around. “I now will tell you farewell, and let the workers unite in the land of opportunity and absolute gain.” He quickly paced away from the podium, and the end of the speech was marked. We the workers of the Workers Republic, with a goal of creating the perfected union, will establish a constitution on this day which will provide for the defense and welfare of our own men and women. We will promote the blessings given to us, and secure the communist doctrine we have established in the socialist economy we constructed. With the statements made in our constitutions great preamble, we may declare the United Workers Republics an independent state for a long time to come.

  7. Currency Printing, Inflation Worsening BOSTON- The currency that has been in the works for almost 3 years now reveals a lot about not just Maurice J. Tobin and what he has done while in office, but even since Calvin Coolidge stepped in as the provisional leader over 7 years ago. The information reveals much more than we could have gotten from them. The highest denomination of the new dollar is a one thousand bill. Why would anyone need a one thousand dollar bill? Well, Chief Political Scientist Michael Hancock, descendant of John Hancock, predicts that by the new decade, we might be using one thousand dollar bills as frequently as we use twenties now. He says that inflation in the Commonwealth is worse than we thought, and over the next three years should escalate to an extreme point, especially if we join in the fight in Cuba to the south. So, is this the work of Coolidge or Tobin? Well, Hancock states that 'anything done by Coolidge would not be the reason for this economic issue,' and he would be right. Tobin, in his first two years in office, has spent nearly twice the amount of money Coolidge could ever have dreamed of spending, and this is still happening. The printing of currency is not helping this situation at all, and should only worsen the inflation. Hancock's words will surely linger in all of our heads for the rest of this day as we ponder the future of the Commonwealth, and what it looks like with Tobin leading for the next four years.
  8. (OOC: I picked the Houston Chronicle because, after doing research, it would be the largest newspaper, or one of, in my nation even though I have never heard of it before in my life :P) Milton Luke Inaugurated, Begins Talks with Union Montgomery, Alabama- Today the inauguration ceremony of the second president of the Confederate States of America took place, marking a milestone in American history. What did President Luke address in his first speech as president? He addressed many issues facing the old nation, including the Union, the United States of America. Milton Luke, President of the Confederate States as of 3 hours ago, spoke in his inaugural address about the issues facing the Confederacy, mainly of our relations with the United States, who hold our eastern border and is the only nation sharing an official border with the nation. The four Union states formerly Confederate states(Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia) hold a strange place in the Confederacy. Although they are, in a sense, claimed by the C.S.A, we have no effective control over the states and they are thus disputed land similar to Missouri in 1861-1865. Luke now has resorted to the White House(See above) where he is working diligently to solve all issues facing our nation. Rumor tells that a meeting with the Union has already been scheduled. The nation has put it's trust in our new president in hopes that he may be a victorious successor to President Jefferson Davis.
  9. Mikal Davis would be sent to represent the Confederate States of America.
  10. "I was not aware it was set in your constitution." he said. "Well, we Confederates respect our constitution, so I suppose we understand. However, that means we can not make any promises of not expanding into any other lands formerly United States. All due respect, and I understand it is likely it is not our business, but it saddens me that your nation now prohibits a right given to the people a far back as 1776, and the one that gave the Confederacy life. "
  11. Updated: Sorry the stripes aren't that good, i'll work on those for next time.
  12. Yes, they are clear and quite fair. The Confederacy, as it was historically started in 1861, and formed in 1862, was mainly started by one state: South Carolina. Now, we in no means are requesting all former Confederate states under your administration, we simply believe that the state that practically started the Confederacy might be better suited as Confederate. Unfortunately, that would also likely mean our occupation of Georgia. We have no reason to take it by force, nor any intentions, however I hope you at least consider this, and we can definitely discuss it more. Following this, we have no intention to claim any former United States land."
  13. The vehicle began to drive. The president's limousine was extremely quiet and comfortable, and he was prepared to begin. "While we drive, I think we should first address the scenario that one of us is faced with a war. The dilemma is whether or not we two should consider signing a treaty obligating us to defend the other. Would you be interested in such a treaty?"
  14. Yeah, I would like my CSA to not be square. Make a totally new rp instead of trying to change it. Also, last time I checked there are only 7 continents on the cnrp map. Gotta go with Mrdirector's proposal for just making our own landmasses and posting in a thread, but again, I would like the REAL cnrp to still exist and this be separate.
  15. Milton Luke looked at him and smiled. "Yes, it is great to see you! Care to step in the car and we'll head to the Capitol?"
  16. Why does it have to dissolve the current world map of cnrp? Some people actually like their nations in cnrp. And, it would make more sense if they were cities... I think it's a good idea, but you don't have to get rid of cnrp.
  17. They, after hearing President Coolidge set his trust in Anderson, would prepare for his arrival. President Luke would wait outside of the airport.
  18. "The Confederacy would prefer if someone who is not a Georgian Unionist, as we believe his opinion on the matter could be biased. We do hope you understand our thought process on this matter. If he is the most and only worthwhile representative, however, we suppose he may come as your representative."
  19. To: President Ashton Coolidge, United States of America From: President Milton Luke(OOC: Changing his name :P), Confederate States of America Dear President Coolidge, First, I would like to congratulate you on your presidency and the reformation of the United States of America. As the Confederacy had stated to you before, we would like to invite you to Montgomery, Alabama, the Capital of the States, to discuss many issues including the security of both our nations, our futures, and possibly the most pressing issue at hand: land. Please do not misunderstand the States when we say we are interested in some of the southern land of yourselves. The nation believes that South Carolina, being the first state to secede in 1861 and practically starting the war, should be occupied by their Confederacy. At that point, it would only make since that Georgia be granted Confederate statehood. Please, although this seems unacceptable or like a levity, we do not threaten you with any military force and much less plan to force you to commit such an action. I hope you will simply take the time to meet with us and do some traditional and worthwhile negotiation, to see what we two can work out. See, the Union and the Confederacy can work together, if only we tried. With Best Regards, Milton Luke President of the Confederate States of America February 22, 1862; Deo Vindice
  20. The Confederacy would like to meet with the United States to discuss many issues, especially the the negotiation of ceding land and establishing clear borders.
  21. "Feel free to allow a representative of ours in Tokyo. We will send them over as soon as possible." OOC: Make a thread if you feel inclined to.
  22. The wind blew hard on a cold winter day. The cold breeze whistled at the people gone to witness the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that was about to take place. For weeks, the south had been planning, plotting, and preparing. The reformation of the United States, although an unexpected turn of events, shook the plans of the region and had taken away some of their most valuable lands. Unfortunately, the last thing the south needed right now was another war on their hands, and it was hard enough that their were likely plenty of misinterpretations of this nation and what it is based on. Some people would likely not even care to recognize the legitimacy of the nation as a whole. James Bonham, Jr. was medium size, for both height and weight. Seeing him in formal wear is just as likely as seeing a dog hate toys. Bonham would have a cowboy hat...and jeans. He had worked to establish governments all across the south, and now the final step was here. A government as similar to the United States' as the Confederacy's would be nearly impossible unless they simply copy/pasted it. However, a few changes were set in place. First, federalism would be written up. In other words, state's rights. It would be up to the states whether or not they wanted to trade with others, raise or lower taxes, export more, import more, etc. The one who helped write this constitution: James, or Jim, Bonham, Jr. You could believe it or not, but this reincarnation was not about slavery. Slavery was not what brought this new nation to be: This nation is formed to establish representatives for the people of the region, and allow them many of the things the Confederacy originally fought for; which does not include slavery. The "Emancipation Proclamation" is practically copied and then pasted into the Confederate constitution, at this juncture. "Congress, I welcome you to Montgomery. There is an important issue to be discussed," Bonham said, "We need to discuss borders with our neighbors." Name: Confederate States of America Government: Federal republic Currency: Confederate Dollar Head of State: President
  23. Sorry guys, I can't do the middle east. America is my jam, and it always will be :) Leaving Arabia. Eva, can I do the following as you are the protectorate holder?- Please mark all available of these states(http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/27/Map_of_CSA_4.png/550px-Map_of_CSA_4.png) Including the pink ones as the Confederate States of America.
  24. Agreed on that note. If not connected to RL population, at least let the people who don't enjoy advancing their IG nation not get punished by that fact and give them some dang soldiers.
