[/quote] Not exactly, and I need to clarify this: [spoiler]Before the last war really took off we made very clear to INT, who (unlike FOK) weren't going to put themselves [i]completely[/i] out there for us (and understandably so, it was the first time they were really torn between old allies and new allies), that we weren't going to crush them between a rock and a hard place — our respective blocs were going to be on opposite sides, no point in ruining a relationship by expecting or demanding something impossible. They had their fight and we had ours. So, one of R&R's targets was LoSS to take pressure off RIA and let them worry about their other wars. We're comparable tier-wise; they had more large nations but we fought them the previous war for the exact same reason. We told INT at the time (again) not to worry about us, we'd be happy to fight GATO if you hit us and we expected it — FOK did too and while it was assumed that PB wouldn't back them for a PB/C&G conflict, a lot of members still wanted a chance to finish what was started in the UJW. People were slightly disappointed that it didn't eventuate... but if GATO didn't hit us last war it wasn't because we took advantage of INT — given the "you can't hide behind FOK now!" sentiment and knowing that we told INT multiple times [i]not[/i] to put themselves out for us, I don't think you can hide behind them. Call us naive for not being completely and utterly ruthless, but don't pretend we dick around our allies. If they tried to protect us... well, it was of their own volition definitely helps explain why we're still allies even if many others in their sphere don't approve, but we certainly didn't expect (let alone demand) it. That said... R&R doesn't really have a problem with GATO, we all seem to get along fine of late and I'm sure this will be a fun war, but I object to the recurring insinuation that we took advantage of INT to keep GATO off us — it was your choice... and ties into why I've objected to C&G publically pressuring INT to pull them out of a tight spot. Self-preservation is admirable, and props for being part of a sphere with enough influence that it can start one war to get out of another... but you (literally, and then others in C&G too) promoted the issue as if INT (as an extension of their allies) was an inconvenience at best and if they made the wrong choice it'd ruin you all. I take issue with that because INT deserve better (irrespective of their eventual choice) from [i]allies[/i] and we really wouldn't do the same — yeah, that's pretty idealistic... but then I'm still not sure why anyone's wasting time trying to defend how anxious C&G was over this issue when you then claim people should drop that and play more politics. I'm glad VL tried to present the issue in a blunt/objective way. Kind of salvages INT's reputation as part of the farcical back-and-forth, at least.[/spoiler]
