The name is something of a turn-off.

I fought GATO once. I felt guilty afterwards; like I'd been punching a small, not-very-bright child. They rewarded the bad feelings by going full Stockholm Syndrome and embracing their attackers, which left me with feelings of disgust toward them. Those feelings have abated to the point where I no longer care whether they live or die. In other words, I am now qualified for GATO membership.

Going rogue is so 2008. However.... GATO truly sucks. Of all the alliances that have shown they don't deserve to exist and yet, inexplicably, do, GATO has proven the amazing staying power of complete and total inertia. They are immovable because they are useless. So watch for GATO to do this:

No, what's funny is that GATO had an opportunity to deal with this some time ago....and didn't. Once again, when push came to shove GATO collapsed like Chinese lawn furniture. Such an old story.... As much as it pains me to say it, JunkaTywin there is one of the more reasonable people on Brown at least with respect to the Senate. I just tune the rest of what he says out.... Maybe you should try convincing non-crazies to join Brown? Probably a better idea than pointlessly antagonizing one of the alliances that's taking out your trash.

In my example in another thread, no nukes had been thrown and I was the only person hitting one nation. I expect there is a very specific set of circumstances in order to attack and have nothing happen....we just don't know what those circumstances are. EDIT: But no....this is different. Also, it's early and that's my excuse.
