Of course Gold has some inherent value, in the sense that it is a good conductor. However it's value is largely inflated, and the perceived value is way above the intrinsic value of Gold. As far as I know copper is actually a better conductor.

I find the political maneuvering fun to watch/somewhat participate in fun. The war in itself for me personally is only a formality, and I don't find the ingame war mechanics fun. Although I do enjoy the banter and the discussions that come alongside it.
... Anyway, I like the idea of having 2/3 wars in a year, moreso the big wars rather than skirmishes.
Also your idea seems rather counter intuitive. Many of the power players, so to speak, are interested in being a part of the power structure. People will not be motivated to war, while others wait on the sidelines due to the fact that they are sacrificing their power -- so you probably wouldn't see an increase in wars, but a reduction in the amountof alliances involved. Making the game supremely boring. The balance of power game really isn't compatible with this...
I like CN the way it is. And if it played out as you mentioned, I would end up leaving.

I would totally understand this if this war was indeed between Sentinel and BFF. Sadly there are other parties involved, and to just assume that it is a 1v1 is rather silly.
