1. Maybe they were exaggerating? You know, to keep members in line? I don't think this is even a big deal unless they're actually doing this as policy. And if they are, well I still don't care but the rest of the indignant can take up the thread.
2. I love the moral outrage, for a PIAT of all things
3. I think that's a pretty useful stat. Seeing how many warslots an alliance has left provides a clearer picture of what the situation is like on the ground, so to speak. As he said in the OP he's not looking to see how an alliance fares--stats don't necessarily have to be dick measuring contests for them to be interesting.
4. Oh goodie, after complaining endlessly about NpO trying to claim the moral highground, we see \m/ trying to do the same.
5. Wouldn't MK's role in this analogy be that of \m/, rather than Polaris?
6. A Treatise on Treatises The question I continue to ask myself is, why do we write treatises? Years of historical evidence has proven to us that treatises mean nothing. Planet Bob has drifted into a state of disorder. It used to be the courtesy of a poster to put these all into one thread, now treatises are churned out as though they are trash. Are treatises spam? Will Planet Bob drift into anarchy? Original opinions and the value of a good discussion are the only things keeping Bob from turning into a nuclear wasteland of incoherence and it seems as though many have forgotten of this. If you write a treatise, what are you writing? Something original and thoughtful or you saying, "Listen to me, I can state the obvious." A typical treatise is "Treaties are bad and I don't like them." There is no, "Well if we don’t like it, what can we do about it" sections. A treatise is usually a piece of trash and why have you, the good people of the Cyberverse forgot this? Treatises are now something that few people truly respect, they are not to be written left and right just because you had a good conversation with someone. A treatise says many things, and what you say doesn't really matter. If a treatise does not say anything significant, rid yourself of it. So what defines a treatise? A bunch of people ready to go post threads saying they have an opinion; just a piece of paper that is there when convenient? In my terms, a treatise is hardly necessary and shall never be called upon. I leave you with this Planet Bob, so that you may take it to heart, and change this world. Thank You, Epik High A Hypocrite of Some kind.
7. \m/oralist war, this should be the official name.
8. Lol, you have no idea what you're talking about. Who are you to be talking about TOP policy? You do realize you're talking to kriekfreak right? Stop babbling about things you have no knowledge of and leave it to the people who are actually informed like kriekfreak.
9. I'd personally disagree with you there. I'd be pretty miffed if I was, I dunno, negotiating a treaty or something and the counterparty started calling me a !@#$%*. I'd say you'd be being blatantly oblivious to go around pretending you aren't affected because there is no "ethnicity" in CN (though I guess technically there is). There's an obvious negative connotation the community as a whole places on certain words, racial slurs or otherwise, and trying to use an IC/OOC line to underwrite people going around and insulting people to their faces seems like a pretty stupid line of thought. Though I guess if you really wanted to be anal about the whole IC thing, just pretend these words are considered insults in your cybernations nation, and your nation leader, being the dictator that he is, will not stand for it as it impinges upon his sensibilities. Sounds good enough to me.
10. I'm pretty sure Ivan is in NSO. And he's free to do whatever he wants RE: NpO even though NpO has stated in the OP that it will not request the help of allies, whether \m/ escalates or not.
11. It's trying to affect change in a realistic manner. I think stealing is bad, but I don't dress up at night catching all the criminals I can. But I do try to stop it when I see it. Does that make me a coward?
12. oops plz dont hurt me i just wanted to know how much warchest i should have
13. "For those concerned, we will require NO assistance from our allies in dealing with this matter. If this matter is to escalate that will be by your choosing alone. I understand that a treaty partner of \m/ will choose to defend, we will await your deployment, also alone." I sort of interpreted that part to mean that \m/ can bring in allies, Polaris will not do so (although Polar allies could come in of their own free will).
14. The reason for not applying the \m/ standard to other alliances is probably (1) due to \m/ being less compliant/ruder than the others and (2) \m/ being the strategically easiest one to attack. I don't think the decision to choose the softest target takes away from the fact that it is, nonetheless, a bold move. I also don't think it takes away from the underlying principals behind the attack--I can't eliminate world hunger, or stop all criminals, but do what I can within my limitations (and of course self-interest). Besides, the GOONS menace is already being taken care of by the might of the SVOF.
15. Only thing stopping this was probably the value of TOP's role as a cog in the hegemony way back when. Back then TOP's allies protested when TOP supported NPO, nowadays they can afford to cancel when it happens. Speaks to how significant Karma was, and probably to how urgently TOP needed to reformulate FA policy post-Karma. Good luck to both, mostly TOP though <3
16. The SVOF unilaterally declares itself to be a member of the Coincidence Coalition. It also unilaterally declares a ceasefire with GOONS as it resumes military operations against RoK (which were on an indefinite hiatus).
17. I sorta doubt that this spy uncovering was intended to be used as the CB for the wider war. Instead I think it was more for the sake of gaining some PR ground. Especially given that there already is a way for one side to escalate the TPF conflict further, regardless of any spying CB. So I for one will not be whining about why they aren't using this to attack RoK!
18. In seriousness though... the faked logs and the real logs really say the same thing. RoK, or at least Mr. HOO believes the TPF war will be a way to teach not only TPF but IRON and CDT a lesson. Though personally I don't see what IRON and CDT have done wrong exactly, nevermind the legitimacy of the CB against TPF.
19. I believe these are the full logs. http://!@#$%*.com/m679d346f
20. Maybe. I think it will be very difficult to tell though and I would guess that it will be very easy to justify such a military action. Hope FOK has a clear vision going forward.
21. Seems like FOK's allies will now have to declare on FOK's other allies to make sure FOK stays neutral in the war. At least I think that's how it would work.
22. The SVOF alliance finds itself in need of some technology to fuel it's ongoing conflict with the GOONS. The SVOF hereby offers a 50tech/3million deal, in which the tech selling nation sends the SVOF 50 tech, and 3 million is sent 10 days later. The SVOF has a long history of holding true to it's commercial agreements. Accessibility link: http://www.cybernations.net/nation_drill_d...ation_ID=136412 The SVOF would also like to take this opportunity to remind the international community that our doors are open to any forms of free aid, cash and tech that will be used to defeat the scourge that is GOONS. They are quite ugly and brutish.
