  1. As military chairman I have no plans to develop the military into a army of conquest at any time. The goal I am working towards is a coherent joint defence force that will persuade any potential aggressor that we are not the easiest target to fight and that they had best look elsewhere for easier targets. To reiterate, The dragon bloc joint forces command is an instrument for joint national defence and is not nor will it ever be an army of conquest.
  2. Announcements: OOC: Could all dragon bloc nations please contact me via PM with their military stats & tech level (in year) so that I can add them to the database I will provide assistance in gathering these stats, but you have to ask first. All nation fact pages will first be submitted in draft form and then developed. Do not be too concerned with a small entry I am starting from the top and working down the thread. (I will do myself last.)

  5. Signed General Vasili Markov President of Neo Olympia
  6. My opinion is that if you stay in the game you can give ships and nukes or air force to whoever you please but you lose them off your RP maximum amount. But if you quit then all your assets get liquidated along with your nation. Otherwise it would just be too easy to exploit. For example: I could convince/ask/bribe 5 of my friends who do not like to RP to join the RP and give me all their nukes, navies & airforces for use in the RP then fade into the background. Then I am an instant superpower with 100 nukes a huge fleet and over 250 squadrons of fighters & bombers.
  7. Roleplay it as extra GDP & faster research times. with 2500 extra tech your factories would be more efficient and productive and you would have genius scientists who could rush ideas from concept to prototype to production model in a couple of weeks. For GDP count every surplus 1000 tech over the cap as an additional 25% bonus to GDP. And research time could be cut in half for every additional 1000 tech over the cap.
  8. How about this. We keep the old equation but we place a maximum cap on it. Like for example as you suggested 2010. (You calculate your year as normal but if it is greater than 2010 then it equals 2010.) This would have the same effect.
  9. Neo Olympia recognises the independence and existance of Manchuria.
  10. Neo Olympia wishes to know the policy of this church on religious tolerance. We are a multi-cultural nation and we have some requirements for religions to accept before they are allowed to establish themselves. They must accept that church and state are separate entities in Neo Olympia and the role of a church is one of moral advisor and nothing more, religions hold no legislative, judicial or executive power over the government. They must also be tolerant of the existence of other religions. Clergy subject to directives from foreign powers are ineligible for public office.
  11. We will allocate aid on a greatest need basis. But we will use the guidelines set out here.
  12. OOC: I do not care what weapons you come up with so long as they can be backed up with at least three references to respectable peer reviewed journals that agree that such a technology will be available when you say it will. And alternatively we can just cap the tech equation at 2020 (which is about as far as most respectable analysts are prepared to make projections to) with excess tech just being used to cut the time needed to do research projects.
  13. I like the idea of being able to purchase land. It gives a believable way for a new player to enter the game or an existing player a believable way of obtaining land of an ally or a neutral without having a war. In real life the USA purchased vast tracts of land off the Russians (The Alaska Purchase) , the French (The Louisiana purchase) & The Mexicans (The Gadsden Purchase). So there is more than an adequate amount of real life examples of this to make it a realistic option in my view.
  14. OOC: I can confirm that this is correct, all matter has 4 states (solid, liquid, gas & plasma). There are no exceptions, just differing melting/boiling points. So yes you can boil iron if you get it hot enough.
  15. OOC: I wish people would stick to using things that actually exist in the real world. It makes proving that they work so much easier, you can point to a working RL version and just say that your weapon is identical to it. And you get instant undeniable proof that it physically possible as an advantage. Its when people start to try and make sci-fi super-weapons that the trouble begins.
  16. OOC: That is basically what I am saying, this weapon is basically a expensive cruise missile.
  17. Umm there is air resistance for anything travelling through air. unless you have discovered a frictionless surface (a physical impossibility). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drag_coefficient And funnily enough planes and missiles have similar drag coefficients. they are both streamlined objects, compare the shapes of an X-15 (a hypersonic aircraft) and a hypersonic missile, they are both basically darts, and have similar amounts of streamlining.
  18. Neo Olympia will begin construction of simple kit homes for distribution to the affected areas and provide a basic ration pack for distribution.
  19. Neo Olympia supports this vote and votes yes.
  20. OOC: I have found some real life examples of scramjet powered vehicles (AKA: I just found out more than I really wanted to know about scramjets) Rockwell X-30 Specifications: * Proposed Maximum speed: Mach 30, (20,000 mph, 32,000 km/h) (Never achieved, no working prototype) * Total Mass: 300,000 lb (140,000 kg) * Empty Mass: 132,000 lb (60,000 kg) * Development Cost: US$ 3,000 million in 1985 average * Project status: Scrapped (continued with X-43 & X51 research) , * Prototype: No working prototype ever built, considered a failure but important discoveries were made that allowed the X-43 & X-51 programs to begin. NASA/Boeing X-43 * Maximum Speed: Mach 9.68 * Mass: 3000lb (1300kg) * Development cost: US$230 million over 7 years (Phase I only) * Project status: ongoing * Prototype: Yes Boeing X-51 Specifications: * Length: 26 ft in (7.9 m) * Empty weight: 4,000 lb (1,814 kg) * Maximum speed: Mach 7+ * development cost: $246 million 1 * project status: ongoing * Prototype: Yes Current Scramjet research programs. X-15 * Developer: USAF * Top speed achieved: Mach 6.7 SCRAM * Developer: Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory * Top speed achieved: Mach 7 NASP (Project Copper Canyon) * Developer: DARPA * Findings: Mach 17 concluded as theoretical limit of scramjet technology HyShot * Developer: University of Queensland * Top speed achieved: Mach 7.6 Hyper-X (X-43 program) * Developer: NASA * Top speed achieved: Mach 9.68 (Mach 15 Proposed limit for X-43D) FASTT * Developer: Alliant Techsystems * Top speed achieved: Mach 5.5 Russian millitary (GLL Holod program) * Developer: Russian millitary * Top speed achieved: Mach 6.5? So based off current research, a scramjet engine will be able to achieve a speed of Mach 9.68 with a theoretical limit of Mach 17. Not Mach 30+ ,The X-30 program was scrapped as unworkable and smaller and slower planes were developed off the research data gathered from that program. And in game terms I would say that this would be a major research program that will cost many billions of dollars and take several years to develop a workable weapon. For a real world example of this consider that the US military with almost unlimited funding has taken since the 60's to get to the point it is at now.
  21. OOC: it is 1905 they may well have cannons. But it is not CNRP canon I assume.
  22. A motorcade of humvees and an armoured limousine carrying our prime minister General Abigail Johns will arrive on the morning of the conference. We have the luxury of travelling by car from Olympia (OOC: RL; Toowoomba) since it is too short of a trip to justify the expense of a plane.
  23. I am quite liberal as to what constitutes activity. 1 IC post of "[acronym=Just flavour text for your nation. eg: Economy up 50% or some such thing. ]fluff[/acronym]" news every 19 days should be sufficient.
  24. These are indeed great facilities for R&R we also hope that we can one day make use of them.
