Yeah, but such systems usually only publicly display bookings for a limited time and have a logical reason: it becomes a place to search in the event a dumb friend suddenly goes missing. I've yet to find a system that just publicly displays complete individual criminal records.
There are plenty of places that do - the city where I grew up lists everything you've ever done on the web. Some people have offenses from the 60s up on there, along with a copy of their long-haired mugshots. Of course, that's in Texas, and our Sheriff's departments are ridiculously well funded and have bored IT departments.
Without permission, most certainly. Even when there's nothing to hide, privacy should be respected at all times. Let's take a hypothetical situation where you get pulled over for a alcohol test. The breath test spikes because you had a spoon of coughing syrup and you get a ticket for "drunk driving". The ticket gets transferred to the net and the employer where you have a job interview some time afterwards sees the ticket, concludes you're a drunk and decides not to hire you. Things like medical records, arrest records and so on should always be private. To see such is not the case in some US states is most certainly "horrifying".
I totally see your point. On the other hand, as a business owner, I'd really like to know if the nice guy I'm about to hire has been arrested 8 times for domestic violence, but never caught a charge. Or if my potential new receptionist is out on bail for drugs, but it hasn't gone to trial yet. FTR, medical records are really strongly protected here, and there are some serious consequences for making those public. Being a criminal isn't a protected class, however. In any event, I've seen enough petty stupid OOC stuff happen in this game that Methrage's story seems credible. All that faux-logic to the contrary, posting personal info in a private place is exactly something a stupid kid would do to try to intimidate someone. Once the info is out, it can no longer be used as a threat. I would question the ability of those that are questioning his story to make a reasoned judgement on the matter, however, especially since GOONS has all but confirmed it. Also, if it was all publicly obtained information, then no crime was committed. It's an invasive and crappy thing to do, and highly unethical, but it's not illegal.
 2.
I feel like some of you need to lighten up a little bit and get some fresh air. Also, there's nothing stopping anybody else from making another poll if this one is really that terrible.
Because we haven't had enough polls this week already.
 3.
I like that concept: when we point out inadequacies, we're "whining"; when you acknowledge them, it's "having a laugh".
Yeah, but we're laughing at, not laughing with.
 4.
positive? $%&@ that. I'm all about being a !@#$% and trying to piss people off to make even a little drama. This game really !@#$@#$ blows and we need hate to keep it alive.
I think you missed your calling, CZ - why aren't you in the NSO?
 5. I don't know what's funnier - that MK is winning this poll by a landslide, or that they had to go out and make another poll without them in it to try and salvage their bruised egos. Just take your licks and move on, guys. Posting a "part 2" just tells us that this really got to you. Why u mad, brah?
 6. Lol, your tears are yummy and sweet, CZ.
 7. Happy birthday, MHA! I don't know what it says about me, but I really dig your poetry.
 8. Legion and NATO. I applaud Legion for winning this year, but they better start sucking harder if they want to compete against us next year. We're ramping up the suck in the '11! Oh, and Supercoolyellow, I agree - it's cute how hard CZ tries to be nasty. I just want to pinch his little cheeks.
 9. 100% MK. I've never seen a bigger bunch of whiners.
 10. Glad to see TNG getting some love. I still reserve the right to hassle Confusion on IRC, though.
 11.
At your current rate that'll be in...? 2013?
I'm thinking mid 2011. And then y'all can bask in the glory of my ghetto blaster kicks.
 12.
It's your shoes. I hate your shoes. Anybody who wears shoes like you is not to be trusted with a potato gun.
You must be jealous, because LnK has the coolest shoes around, hands down. Quite frankly, I'm jealous, and more than a little miffed he won't tell me where he got 'em. Maybe when we hit 5m NS he'll be in a good enough mood to let me in on the secret.
 13.
Nice solid growth
That's called the Zenergy Bump.
 14.
Congrats to those that made it to the final four, it has been fun to watch. Are there consolation prizes for the most growth during the course of the event? That's ok, we're going for a bigger prize currently
Yeah, this Survivor has been a real nail biter. Argent is totally killing it, and I'm happy we made it as far as we did. If we can keep our current growth rate up, we'll be passing NEW before too long.
 15.
I believe in the event of a tie, the upper hand is given to the smaller alliance (in terms of NS) since a .02 gain for a smaller alliance is harder to achieve than for a larger alliance and it is a larger percentage gain.
Ok, that makes sense. And to think, if Gopherbashi had waited another hour we'd be +.03 and still in it. Ah well...
 16. Well shoot. How come iFok and TTK get to stay if they had the same growth we did?
 17.
via half of a neutral alliance merging into you. GREAT JOB!
Yeah, GUN was my alliance. We disbanded, and there was no merger with anyone. A few of us went to NATO but not anywhere near half, and we definitely weren't neutral. You're 0 for 3 there, cupcake, so check your facts before you run your mouth next time, m'kay?
 18.
Amazon Nation in the Mediterranean Sea?
And NATO's in the South Pacific. Everything's getting all topsy-turvy!
 19. Congrats on the baby - you have no idea right now how awesome it is to have a Mini Me. As somebody else who's had a CN pregnancy situation, I strongly urge you to reconsider leaving, though. About seven months from now, you're going to be begging for any release from the crying, temper tantrums, strange foods, late night disturbances, and all the other related drama (and that's before she even has the baby). Any escape you can get that doesn't require you to leave the house will be most welcome. The nice thing about Planet Bob is that when RL gets hectic you can just go into building up your warchest for a while, and when you have more time you can jump back in.
 20. Sweet, it's nice to see we're at 15 points.
 21.
Some of the facts that have come to light about the voting process are almost forcing me to think that this "Poll" is some sort of fun irrelevant diversion instead of universal supreme truth that will inevitably force it's winner into a humiliating disbandment. FOR SHAME MK.
If MK had any stones to back up all their talk they'd immediately declare on the contest winner. Anything else is just hot air.
 22.
Sometimes it's not the quality of the CB, it's what you do with it. There were alternatives to what happened, but arguably they were not given a chance. Don't make the war into some sort of noble crusade.
Cut 'em some slack - a 10:1 curbstomp over a trivial diplomatic matter is what passes for a "noble crusade" on Planet Bob these days.
 23.
I think I applied the correct formatting on that. Hope this is good.
It needs a little more smack talk and some shoutouts, but other than that it's great. Also, what's it gonna take for Argent to crack in Survivor?
 24. Congrats, MCXA - you picked a fine MoFA there. Oh, and congrats to the Heroes.
 25.
And you've done what at least 80% of the alliance members in the final 16 have done. Cheered for your own team. Ironically this just enforces the point even further because it looks bad if you're serious or joking. Good luck beating Legion regardless.
Of course I'm rooting for NATO - anybody that MK thinks is the Worst Alliance Ever must be some really cool folks. Oh, nobody will take any of this seriously until you put ERA in the running.
