1.
The best tip I can give is thoroughly research basic information about each alliance (cn wiki), then evaluate each and decide where you think you'd fit in best.
The best tip I can give you is that the mods don't like gravedigging
 2.
Vlad Stukov had around 7.5b at the time of the TOP war. I imagine he's probably around 10b at this point.
Ok, then you're probably right. First time I hear about that 7.5 B figure, You can estimate how much he has now. Assuming he still had 7.5 at the end of the war and was at ZI: rebuying back to 12K infra would cost him 1.2 B. So he would have 6.3 B left at the time of surrender -> (I'll use Viluin's net income for approximation of his average net income) so he's now probably around 10 Billion. Quite impressive and completely useless.
 3.
Not being rude but what do you base this estimate on? Anything in particular?
It's an estimated guess, Matt Miller had 5.5 Billion or so at the beginning of KARMA. Most nations which I expect to have good chests, have gone through some hard fought battles (KARMA and Bipolar). I also think someone would have bragged about having more then 10B on hand.
 4.
It ranges in the upper twenties depending on radiation. On a related note, I wonder what the top war chests are like these days. I need to start buying tech again...
I'm guessing the top lies around 7 Billion or so.
 5. I have to agree with Nippy, doubt Methrage will actually fulfill these terms. When that topic comes I will again be able to post: GOONS
 6.
I am testing to see if it's true that when confronted with a long paragraph, people read only the first and last sentences, ignoring the middle. I know that I, personally, do that when confronted by a tome written by Vladimir. I have never read an entire essay by him; so I am not doing Vladimir, I'm doing my perception of him.
I think most people in CN except Junkalunka(or how his most recent reroll is called) does that when seeing something about Francoism or morality. Yes I'm that shallow.
 7. Halloween is always quite confusing.
 8. I wanted to do this for Dutch, but was to lazy and google seemed to easy. There is a remark to be made on your footnote, I hope the french translation wasn't as bad as the original Dutch one. They named Ford Prefect after a bank in that one, which completely destroys the joke behind why he chose his name.
 9. I believe you get automatically flagged if you don't do anything at all or only drop one CM a day.
 10. I always felt the losing while destroying money was happening when I attacked at low odds with the option Planned. I also tried aggressive attacks, which didn't have the desired result. But I guess this is more a superstition from my side than anything serious.
 11.
Why didn't we think of that?
You still have much to learn young one.
 12. Buy a great temple and it doesn't matter at all.
 13.
I was in GOLD for a very short time. But in GOLD none the less.
I wasn't here for the time, but wasn't GOLD a really crappy alliance?
 14. (This reply will be ooc due to the nature of this thread and other posters doing the same thing) I was actually planning on making a call-out thread about this trend of not posting any relevant announcements on the OWF. Not on legal grounds like Bob Janova, but because it makes this game less fun. We all worry about the declining number of players, but if we all start doing things like this (Not announcing things on the OWF). How are newer players ever going to find out about the things happening in the political scene, if older players have a hard time finding out about them. I consider myself an active player, but I'm currently not deeply entrenched in the IRC back rooms. I won't be the first to know anything, That's all fine and dandy. however it becomes worry some now that I wouldn't find anything on the OWF about it either. How is a new player going to find out about things if a fringe forum like WorryFreeCN and the Wiki are starting to replace this board. This game is as good as it is because of the great community it has. Many clones of this game died because they tried to better the gameplay mechanics aspect, but they failed to mirror the OWF. If we start a new convention of not announcing things because it isn't convenient, other alliances will follow and we will kill the OWF. Or do you all think it things will become better when Archon or Cortath decide on never posting anything interesting again? I hoped STA made a good example in their dealings with \M/, by trying to do most of their diplomatic dealings open on these boards. The ones you try to keep something hidden from are the ones to find out first. Don't be scared to look to bad when announcing a negative announcement, because you're playing Cybernations so you always look ridiculous. So in the end this is still a call out:
FARK UPN Menotah USN Wolfpack
Explain yourself on why you feel to good to make an announcement.
 15.
I don't think SpoiL was ever claiming that he was at the top of the food chain, as if he was Hoo's right-hand man. But "low-level government official" also kinda suggests he's some kind of entry-level diplomat or recruiter, a deputy at best. Maybe RoK works a bit differently, but even if there's a ruling upper council, a MoFA position still wouldn't be considered "low-level" and would contain a fairly larger degree of the inside workings and FA-policy of RoK than the aforementioned implied peon position.
The Sith master of Lies position could be considered as your MoFA, nobody is seeing that position as high gov. I would probably classify it as middle government, why couldn't that be the same over at RoK?
 16. In my experience theme doesn't matter at all. It only is useful for naming your government positions and as a starting point for propaganda in wars. What is important for your alliance are the goals and the methods of achieving them. Such things cannot be placed in a theme as they evolve over time.
 17.
This is like the fourth time I've gotten this event in four months. Is there something I'm missing that makes my nation particularly vulnerable to flooding or negative events? I think I've gotten about 10 bad ones to the one good one so far... I don't get it But it's incredibly frustrating to almost always have at least one negative event and often more...
Events are random.
 18.
Yes, I guess you can be aggressive without being a tech raider. I noticed the defence pact between GOONS and Viridian Entente, which seems odd given the reference on cyber-wiki I saw to "the ongoing dispute" between VE and GOONS, unless the refernce is outdated. One of the reasons I find it hard to choose an alliance is I don't really know, at the end of the day, what most of them stand for - though in some cases, eg GOONS, Nordreich, Poison Clan, it's pretty clear. Also fairly clear with those that have "Conservative" or "Socialist" in their names. Some are clearly collections of cyber riff-raff - eg those that accept anyone regardless of history. But the rest?
Choosing an alliance is difficult, I've joined a new alliance three times now and each of them was different from the inside then I expected when I joined. And although joining the right alliance is an important part of your experience, You should also not take it to seriously. Just join the one you expect to be fun and nice, try to call it your home for at least a month or two. If you realize you want something different, very few alliances will hate you for leaving. Just make sure that when you leave they are not in a war or you still owe aid to them.
 19.
Bla bla......
This thread is not about you Methrage. On topic: I would personally include Vox as part of the Karma war era, although they grew spectacularly during the WotC. Their lasting appeal was mostly a reflection of the general attitude of "disgust" with certain characteristics of the time, that disgust in the end was what kick started KARMA. I found this blog article quite good at describing the different generations: http://forums.cybernations.net/index.php?app=blog&module=display&section=blog&blogid=214&showentry=1984&_gocomments=1&st=0
 20.
Meritocracy FTW Just sayin'
Meritocracies don't exist, their is always someone who has to decide who has the most merit. If you can show me a true meritocracy, were someone is promoted/demoted purely on merit I will give you fifty tech. It would be stupid for an alliance not to strive to put the best suitable people in the right positions.
 21. Political analysis of Blolack: Good alliances: Umbrella !@#$%* alliances: The rest
 22.
ISSF and iFOK
Come on, I expected you would name TGE . You were a super experienced alliance when you took them on. They had an amazing theme, a very strong government with truly strong stable characters and no internal divisions at all. :') No seriously, I'm still wondering how it is possible the FOK - TGE treaty still exists and as an extent how in the hell it is possible that TGE still exists.
 23.
Thanks, thaone. I think the fact that you have to join an alliance or get eaten is one of the negative aspects of this game. I'd rather be independent. Alliances chuck money at you and then all you do is build infrascturcture... and build infrastructure... and more infrastructure... and an improvement... and then more infrastructure.... (I'm falling asleep just writing this). There's no challenge to that whatsoever. I'd rather not have any handouts, make my own money and see how far I can go.
Ok, thats fine with me I hope you have fun the way you do your things, if you ever want to interact in a different way with the community as through these boards most of us use IRC and are on the coldfront server.
 24. Hi Torleif, I saw most of your questions were already answered. If you decide to go through with your attacks, make sure your target isn't in an alliance. I also assume you have had lots of messages about joining one, I encourage you to do so and sign up on their off-site boards. Alliances are what keep this game running, they can have a strong community, can usually answer your questions about nation building and making war. The money they promise you in those messages is also not a scam of some sorts and can usually be made by doing relatively easy tasks. I hope you have fun in Cybernations.
 25.
Do you think they'd help after two blunders?
I think my definition of blunder is somewhat different from yours.
