PremierApex, is there any way to scramble the fixtures so it doesn't just repeat the starting fixtures backwards at the end of the season - doesn't seem too realistic to me.

No. That is how the game generates schedules for all leagues. It's been particularly brutal in the Nordreich Liga for triple- and even quad-headers.

Not a bad drop in the ELO, and i got Junior Cabanas back from injury-wish it was Taja though who is still out probably for the rest of the month.

ALDM Youth Sensation Arlindo Kaká is still on the Liga Mundo transfer window, if you are interest-send me a message and we will begin conversations and negotiations.

Crack the cigar, Arlindo Kaká is a 'Bok

As a replacement for Dick Witchge he has some rather large shoes to fill. Along with Hendrik van Schou, who was also acquired yesterday, he becomes part of the foundation for the third generation of the Springboks midfield.

Mid-season report card

With the Liga Mundo campaign halfway in the bag, Transvaler Daaglikse Sportnuus now looks at the seven awards normally handed out by the club management and predicts who we think may end up winning silverware at the end of the season:

Prospect of the Season: NGWANE - Even though forward Milan Bosch has yet to see any senior playing time, the sheer potential of youngster Cetshwayo Ngwane is simply too overwhelming to ignore. Easily the best talent the club has landed since Detlef Botha four seasons ago - if not, even better than the chippy headhunter - strong off-season development progress could put serious pressure on the longterm feasibility to retain either McGorry or Froggnarson on the fullback.

Rookie of the Season: NGWANE or VAN SCHOU – Too close to call as there are five players in contention for rookie honours - although Nathan Archibald, whose play has been mediocre at best, hardly counts as a rookie considering his tenure playing for the Springboks in the UCFA. Van Schou has only played one match but has already impressed management. Ngwane’s accolades have already been mentioned. Strong debuts by ‘Poopie’ Kaká and Milan Bosch could make this a real horserace, but the favourite right now is Ngwane.

Most Improved Player: HÖRTNAGL or NORTHFIELD – After three seasons playing in the shadows as a substitute, Emmanuel Hörtnagl is currently in the midst of a breakout season and solidifying his position as a starter. He has taken the scoring lead on the Boks and it’s possible Emms could eclsipse his entire, previous points total this season. On the attack, Neil Northfield was brought in last season as a temporary fix but his strong scoring play in the El Invierno Clásico has cemented his staying power with the club despite questions surrounding his playing skill at this level. Edge to Hörtnagl as Northfield’s playing time has been mostly in the cup runs against sub-par squads.

Forward of the Season: NORTHFIELD – With veterans Charles Brennan and Balthazar Botha having mediocre production this season, Northfield’s unexpected overachievement in the cup runs gives him the favourite’s nod.

Fullback of the Season: BOEKWEG – The Springboks fullback line is solid, reliable, but generally unremarkable. Nathan Archibald has been disappointing so far, but yet not quite bad enough to brand him an outright bust. That leaves Joep ‘Radar’ Boekweg and captain Leon Hooiber, with the always dependable legend getting the nod over Captain Leon.

Midfielder of the Season: HÖRTNAGL – Rieger and Detlef have been struggling for goals this season while Henk Schot and Stien van Buyten both seem to coast along most games avoiding anyone’s attention, leaving the two midfield substitutes battling it out for the bridemaid’s honours. Mark Verwayen has had a strong first half but started dipping the last couple of week while Hörtnagl has slowly and steadily gained steam. Nod goes to Hörtnagl due to his versatility as both a competent playmaker in a pinch and penalty kicker.

Player of the Season: ALDERTON or HÖRTNAGL – Thurston Alderton is consistently one of the best goalkeepers in Liga Mundo and has been the backbone of the Springboks for many, many seasons. He carried them to the championship two seasons ago and if the Boks are able to mount a late-season season surge up the table, then it’ll be on account of him. Hörtnagl gets consideration on account of his career season and always making 150% of his often-limited playing time.

’Boks moved to Namibia after nuke attack

Transvaal Springboks have been evacuated to Namibia after Johannesburg came under nuclear attack this morning. Although civilian casualties are reported to be light, in the face of widespread anarchy the Witwatersrand capital region has since been deemed ‘unsafe’ and ‘off-limits’ – making Loftus Versfeld unavailable for tomorrow’s cup match versus Atlético Vinilandês.

In the face of national tragedy, Vedder League X11 side Windhoek Welwitschia has once again offered their dilapidated stadium, known as The Khomasdal, as a temporary home to the Springboks.

“After today’s devastating attacks, the club executive considered disbanding or moving to a safe location outside of Transvaal, but after receiving a telephone call from Staatspresident Botha himself, who has specifically requested that the club continues operations within the Republic of Transvaal for the sake of national morale, we have now relocated to Windhoek in Namibia for the duration of this war” said Manager Bartnel Botha in a hurried statement made after arrival at Windhoek’s airport.

The Khomasdal hosted two Liga Mundo matches last year during the Karma War when anarchy broke out in Pretoria.

Dinendel Ducky writes:
I would check your input for the Ducky results. we have won 3 games against (2 against higher competition) and drawn 2 in the past few weeks but still fell 6 spots?
DD, great to see ya back on the boards. I double checked, all the entries going back the past 2 weeks (since last update on the 19th. you've hand two wins and one draw in three matches). Unfortunately, the math didnt change. I'm attributing it to the leap-frog from huge cup first round shockers from Melloria and Roma. Cup games are weighted heavier than basic league action.. goal differential even magnifies the effect. You're not getting any worse, but those teams just suddenly are looking a lot better. (BTW, your 5-0 thrashing of Texas has already given you a boost towards next weeks' rankings)

Botha writes:
Interesting, I face Voobaha National again in the second round of the cup
Go figure.. another round of 16 cup matchup. 2nd time this season. Historically, you're 4W 1D 1L against me (with the one loss in a friendly).. and the Nats get hammered every time we visit (3-0 friendly, 6-3 last year in Primera, 4-2 in Cup this year). I wouldnt worry too much if I were you. :)
