Voobaha's Achievements

 1. Voobaha National has returned to top flight football for a second go-round, after a strong season in Segunda. With major changes to the midfield and defensive corps, the question is: Can the Nats avoid the debacle of season 6, where a last season slide sent them plumetting to the relegation zone? Or, as one journalist wrote, comparing them to a couple EPL sides, "Why do they spend like Manchester City, but play like Burnley?"
 2.
wow congratz to the Sinners on winning Primera .
Agreed... GRATS TO DA SINNERS! as Botha so eloquently put it, a team that hasn't gained a lot of respect over the seasons. But this is a squad that has escaped relegation a couple times, and has a reputation for gritty, scrappy football. All but one of their wins this season were by one goal, and only had one blowout loss all year. A win is a win, and Hail to the Champions! o/

This year you both have different teams. [/quote} Hmmmm... MLS team in 05 that is meh at best, prone to tie games...and not the Galaxy... GO KANSAS CITY WIZARDS!
 5.
No, I wouldn't say so either. Your pool was so close - basically 1 win separated 4th from 8th. That almost fluke win by The Children of Odin was unexpected.
I wouldn't say fluke win (then again, I dont know the RL club matchups). But Odin's Kids have beat us in both our TWC meetings
 6.
Sure I won against Estrella Roja and I still have a shot at the promotion... but having two key players out of the pitch because of three yellow cards, it's gonna be hard to beat SiPS (who defeated me at home earlier in the season )
V... if you can keep SiPS off my back, there's a "Foreign Aid" package waiting with your name on it.

Compostela Artois 1038 (+1) 26. Texas Longhorns 1036 (NC) 27. Dinamo Sano 977 (NC) OOC: Looking like teams that do well in the higher weighted Cup matches are rising to the top. I predict the cup winner will vault to #1 at end of season. Totally surprised that Swamplandia (Primera leaders) are still ranked mid-pack.
 8.
No, I would actually say the outcome of the Kelton vs Uralica match is much more critical for Voobaha to adavance. I think both Deutschland and Voobaha have decent chances to win their matches and those are almost given wins - so MLW is pretty much out of the picture and it boils down to the Kelton vs Uralica match to decide, which has a greater chance for an upset or draw. I think Kelton vs Uralica has a much greater chance for a result that swings in Voobaha's favour than the result of any other match. Mind you, if I were a betting man I'd say Voobaha still has a slim to none chance to advance, as I think Uralica will probably get the full points and finish in 4th.
We see different sides of the same coin... IF MLW were to upset Deutschland, Voobahaian hopes at best would be on a tie breaker for 4th (with D'land, and possibly Uralica). On that point alone, a Deutschland win is critical. But as you pointed out, A Uralica win, brings in the tie breakers, which I dont want to see. Best case for Voo: MLW loss (to stay at 7 points), Uralica loss or draw (to possibly get to 7 points), Voobaha win to move to 9 pts and sole possession of 4th.
 9. The locker room was quiet as the Voobahian players entered after the devestating 3-2 loss to Mac Land... only the sound of the shoes being put in travel bags echoed in the small room. The lone voice heard was that of the manager... "Gentlemen... I'm proud of each and every one of you. Though we lost today, all is not lost. Tomorrow defines what we have been working for. To advance we HAVE to win tomorrow. Not just win, but a decisive win. Yes, we do need help and a bit of luck in a couple other matches. But none of that matters if we don't take care of business ourselves agaisnt Odin. Here's the bottom line. We have to win by at least 5 goals. Nothing else will do. If other teams can put five goals on the board, then dammit, so can we! So tomorrow... no matter what else happens to the teams ahead of us... we go out there and play for nation, for pride... and to be able to say, we did the best we could." The reality wasn't as bad as the manager led his team to believe. The outcome of the Deutschland - MLW game was critical. A win or draw by the defending champions would give Voobaha a decent shot at advancement into the final 16. But it's what the manager didn't say that had a major impact in the VooMan Groups advanement hopes. Even with a Voobaha win, they would have to pray that Uralica won their match by fewer goals. The supposedly needed five-goal win by Voobaha was a lofty target, but not a necessity. The only certainty, was that a Voobaha win was needed, and that all Voobaha fans would be watching the scoreboard the rest of the day.
 10. After two draws and a 2-0 loss to the defending Cup champions, Pool C is setting up nicely for Voobaha... having already played 3 of the top 4 teams in the pool, even 3rd isn't out of the question. Like many others, concerns are about the offense (1 goal in the three matches). The defense allowing 1.00 gaa is about what we've come to expect.
NTR reminds me of Voobaha (I think it was them) last year that came out of qualification and then had a good playoff run.
OOC: If you mean a first year Cup team that pulls a couple shockers on the way to Elite Eight, yeah... might be us.
 11.
No change for beating you, Voo?
Probably would have been if this were a more of a boxing style rankings... the way the math worked out, you picked up the most points of any team this week (15).. and with Voo Nat losing 15 points, that was more than enough to boot them from 2nd in the rankings. (Edit: I lied.. ALDM picked up 19 for a two goal win over a close rival with a 50/50 chance of winning) From what I've been noticing, a one-goal win in Liga play gets anywhere from 7-12 points (or a loss of 7-12 points if you were on the wrong end of things). Biggest factors are goal differential, rankings differential and if it is a Cup match. Right now, V....you're kind of in a no-mans land with no team within 15 points of you either way, so it'll take a winning streak to start moving up (or if Keville were to start sliding, same thing). If this were a more subjective rankings (like a voted poll).... I wouldn't be this high at all!

"Which club team DO I have?" If you start seeing names in your game reports like Tevez, Bridge, and Adebayor... rest assured you have Manchester City. Feel free to play along at home.

The VooMan Group expects to improve on their 8th place finish from thier TWC debut last year. But Voobaha will have difficult road to get out of a Gabarone based group that features perennial powers Costa Libertad, Deutschland, Mac Nation and Uralica. "We surprised many people, including ourselves, with a quarterfinal appearance. Now it'll be tougher to even get that far." said Voobaha manager Trent in a press confrence from the team's low budget hotel. "All we can do is watch and wait for results to be posted... oh, I mean all we can do is play hard, and hope we catch a few breaks along the way."
