New Polar Order keeps up their strong growth too, I guess. Bad couple of days for Nueva Vida, who lose a handful of nukes to the New Sith Order. We'll be seeing NSO next update, they now have 374 nukes and show no signs of stopping. Better step up your game, Athens! Chairman Cao
Nukes per Member - 07/03/09 General Comments and Weekly Progress - A fair amount of medium and large alliances managed unusually high growth rates of between 0.2 and 0.5 nukes/member this week. Is the world really gearing up for war, or are MPs just getting more popular? - Mushroom Kingdom again have the biggest increase in ratio, with a very impressive +2.69 nukes/member increase putting them just ahead of the highest sanctioned alliance on 6.40. NpO increase their growth rate from last week, gaining +0.51 nukes/member for 4.51, leaving them just short of IRON and Fark amongst the sanctioned allainces. Some other very strong gains this week, notably Aircastle (+1.21), Sweet Oblivion (+1.19), Argent (+0.75) and Boards Alliance Of Protectorate States (+0.52). - Largest drop this week was Umbrella (-0.68) due to taking on several small members. Ten other alliances had minor losses but none were significant. - The group of alliances with >10 nukes/member remains at the same fifteen as last week, though Valhalla and Alpha Omega could very soon join the club. - The Grämlins maintain their lead with another decent week and are now just 0.7 nukes/member from 20. - Mean nukes/member of pool considered: 3.65 - Sanctioned alliances with above average* nukes/member: TPF, Fark, IRON, NpO - Sanctioned alliances with below average* nukes/member: New Pacific Order, Sparta, Ragnarok, MCXA, TOOL, ODN, MHA, VE - Global average nukes/player increased again this week by +0.01 to 2.25. - The 83 alliances considered in the main list together comprise 54% of the global membership, and hold 87% of the global nukes. * Mean of total member pool considered; not global mean which would be misleadingly low due to the many extremely new and unaligned players; nor mean of individual alliance averages which would be misleadingly high due to the many small but high-end alliances. Table A - All Top-50 Alliances by Score and Nukes Alliances are sorted in descending order by nuke count, the initial value is their Score rank to use as comparison. Bold value is nukes/member ratio. Chairman Cao
The value of the Strategic Defense Initiative lies not in the economic damages it prevents but rather the fact that it deprives the one launching the nuclear weapon a great ability to further attack your allies or yourself, especially since nuclear weapons have a limited cap on total amount and daily purchases. Technically, it lies in both Indeed it lies in both. I'm guessing Big Z was assuming a curbstomp scenario in which everybody on the losing side will take 1 nuke per day for the entire war, if so I can see where he's coming from as there don't seem to be many remotely even wars. But in the case of a fair war (or the winning side in a curbstomp) vast amounts of infra will still be saved. I'm sure most people can think of one good example of an alliance with a good few SDIs despite a medocre nuke ratio Edited March 8, 2009 by Chairman Cao
