Here is a link to an old essay by OPArsenal that describes the nature of autocratic democracy, stored on our forums:

http://cn-snx.co.uk/index.php?/topic/394-the-sage-and-the-student-2007-story-by-oparsenal/

Quote

The Student reflected for a moment, looking into the fire. He pondered the words of the Sage. Finally, he decided on a topic. “You spoke of ‘autocratic democracy.’ I wish to learn more of this concept. Please, Sage, expound on this.”

The Sage smiled, the fire twinkling in his eyes. Snow, visible in the window behind him, fell gently. The Sage spoke. “Student, you will note that when I attack democracy I attack electoral democracy. That is because, however paradoxical it may seem to outside observers, the Orders are a fundamentally democratic entity. As I have previously stated, Autocratic Democracy is a principle that formed during the August Revolution itself. As simply as possible, it is the democratic will of the people being channeled through an autocratic institution. While there is no electoral vote the voices of Pacificans and Polars are nevertheless heard and acted on -- and in a far more efficient and effective way than in an electoral democracy. This is why, for example, Comrade Franco put down the claim that he was a dictator when called one in an interview, since such would imply that he stands above the people rather than as an integral part of them -- as the medium through which they act. The principle of Autocratic Democracy was formalized through the creation of the Senate – a meritocratic group of revolutionary leaders appointed to support the Emperor and carry out the tasks dictated to them by the people. Autocratic Democracy is a combination of many traits possessed by members of the Orders, developed as a consequence of the material conditions of the Revolution; and as such it is a principle unique to the Orders. At its simplest, this principle takes the democratic spirit and will of the citizens of both Orders and channels it through an autocratic institution, allowing it to be concentrated into a single, powerful action. During the August Revolution this institution was Comrade Franco himself, with the anger and hope of Pacifica funneled through him. As time went on, this responsibility was passed onto future Emperors, and while the institutions of Pacifica and, more recently Polaris, have changed around us, it is a principle that still shaping every move that we make."

This thread is about how libertarian we are, since we're the LPc. Spreading libetarian ideals, not "autocratic democracy" :\

It is my opinion that true Liberty can be found in the product of autocratic democracy, in which an alliance overthrows exploitation and foreign usurpation to establish it's own destiny.

You and I can have different opinions and discuss this in a civil manner, I presume.

The true idealism of libertarian principles is for an individual to uphold their own freedoms. Any type of nature of oversight for that life is objected against.

The red flag here is how far does it pertain? Is it a nation ruler's freedom or an alliance's freedom? This concept certainly needs more clarification from the LPCN tri-fecta.

I think what Sephiroth is trying to do is bring alliances together (with their differences)- and those alliances would be no more oppressed than if they would stayed independent upon their own free will in the first place. The original creation of the LPCN (with the assistance of M Inc) was to prevent rulers from being sanctioned for their own ideals. Methrage and animalz have lost their principles when aligning themselves with same form of opposition that formed the LPCN in the first place.

What was once an amazing idea, is no longer genuine, and the only thing that exists today, is the name.

If you think you understand Libertarianism, you easily pass the test.. You should join us and take some good hitsl

More micros like yours who know enough about libertarian-sim can bring a greater Libertarian meaninging to all of us. Imagiine your alliance being the 5 in the LPC; having a seat at the table to give your put before we vote on big decisions..

So I trust you will abide by Libertarian Rules while you team up with us for a while?

Why would we want to join an organization that has a leader that tried to isolate us, then tried to remove our senator from brown by helping to take over LPC in your absence?

You have a trium that is clearly anti-libertarianism to a true libertarian alliance. So, I'm sorry, but we will not be entertaining any thought to collaboration until the LPC is brought back to it's true idealism.

Rules are important for the functioning of any large organization. We are not a warband, nor a streetgang, but rather a civilized alliance that produces tens of thousands of tech each month.

Allowing members to do as they please would jeopardize the security of the entire alliance. If people do not like the rules, they are free to leave. Some have.

If Anarch wishes to do as he pleases, very well. I am just noting in this thread he does not have our unconditional backing.

I'm not disagreeing with you, just because you think you are civilized does not mean you are libertarian, you are an imperialist alliance, not even close to being autocratic democracy. Just because they are free to leave doesn't mean you are anywhere near a libertarian alliance. You also do not allow nations to sell tech at 9/300, as a lot of your nations told me. You require them to do interstellar, and to stick to the 1:1, your economic producers show that you do not deserve to even think you are remotely close to being libertarian.

Again. I'm not saying the way your alliance is, is bad or wrong. I'm just making a clear distinction to your post that you are libertarian.

That may be true, as any nation can do as they please. You are tied to them via an ODP bloc, you you do have some sort of conditional backing, and are a trium with him as well. So you can try to distance yourself from Sephiroth as much as you want, you still are tied to him, and his ideas.

Because I got it back? Not sure what happened, but with me here it would obviously take little effort for me and Sigrun to out vote him if he ever wants to do something dumb.

I think it will be helpful for us to keep him.overall

The fantasy world you are trying to create does not deviate from the realism of what those words mean. You are either Autocratic or Democratic, there is simply no way possible for you to be both. Simply by their root definitions they cancel each other out. Just because you enjoy the use of the two words together does not give it any credibility and a false narative about this game will never make it true. Please stop while you are ahead, your try hard levels are exceeding maximum threshold.

Are you sure you got it back?

We must decline your effort, we have principles, and we stick to them. We will not be joining something that is a farce, especially when it is trying to call itself libertarian, when they have a non-libertarian imperialist alliance in there, it's just a farce.

When you get back to your roots, like when you approached us when we originally formed, we can talk about joining again.

If you don't like it, why don't you go complain to your allies in NPO, since the term originated there.

We weren't trying to exploit your nations, that's why we joined the tech circle, because it is a good idea. Though it seems, from some of your nations that I've talked to have said it's run in a very tight conformist way.

I'm just saying, you don't allow your nations to have any autonomy, as many have confirmed that i've talked to. Especially the ones that left when you signed with LPC.

Allowing a nation to voluntarily exploit its self is a right. I wont arrange a 9/300 for someone but they can do a 9/800 for all I care, as long as they are aware of the losses or gains before engaging in the sale and how large the market is in general. I declare libertarianism dead in CN, join the fight against the vietcong domino effect!

If you are going to engage in a war to enslave our tech producers, you are going to be biting off more than you can chew. It's our alliance, and it's our rules going back to the July Revolution in 2015.

If you don't like it, tough !@#$.

They are called tech sellers, and we have never bought tech from SNX sir... My market remains unchanged.

No one said anything about enslaving your tech sellers. Razgriz expertly identified why you are not libertarian, and you then respond with propaganda about "enslaving" your tech producers.

I do want to point out that you said rules, so it's a rule that requires nations to sell at a particular tech to cash price. That sounds like enslavement more that what Razgri was talking about.

They are already enslaved, they just don't see it. Engagement of war against SNX is not about 'enslavement', it's about Liberation.

Anyone who uses that term is a full fledged retard. Anyone with even the tiniest bit of intelligence could work out pretty easily that those two words cannot exist together to describe a government. There is fact and fiction, and we live in a world of facts. If it bothers you so much that I am singling you out for being a retard, invite others that think the phrase "Autocratic Democracy" is a real thing to this thread, and I will call them as dumb as a potato as well.

Other plutocrats far more dangerous than yourselves have attempted to exterminate our membership and enslave our tech producers. Our ideology is producerism, and in the Imperium we have dignity as free men, free producers; not "sellers" who make enough perhaps for a loaf of bread.

That's all there is to it. If any of you want to force us to change, we will be waiting with our nukes.

What is bread? Is this from another universe not ours?

How does one try to exterminate and then enslave? Who wants unwilling members on their AA? Please name some names here so I can also shun them.

FREE THE MARKETS, END SLAVERY!

Again. With the propaganda.

Maybe, actually, you know read, and comprehend what we've said. No one here has said they want to exterminate your producers. What we've said, which you continue to back up, is that you are the one enslaving them by forcing them to do tech deals at a certain price. Even if I agree with the price, I disagree with the idea that you force them to do that price.

No one is trying to force you to change, no one is saying change, what they are saying is that the Imperium is not Libertarian in the slightest.

A nation producing 300 tech for 9 million dollars deserves such a punishment if they are that bad a math and too lazy to find better deals. Such an event would only be fixed if the supplier ventured out actively seeking better rates for their own personal gain, and as a reward, he would be better off than the nation who does not have such a drive. This is capitalism. What you embrace is a theology that a nation is better off relying on the government than their own free talents. Your alliance is a giant welfare queen (at best) and you are the very enemy of individuals who believe in the power and glory of the human mind and their right to use it for themselves.

Your position is ironic for someone from a "socialist" alliance.
