New Desolate Order Imperial Decree

I hereby declare that the Saharan Training Corps is under the full protection of the New Desolate Order. Let it be known that an attack on them IS an attack on us, we are one.

An attack on the New Desolate Order will not signify an attack on the Saharan Training Corps, and neither alliance is obliged to help the other should one alliance declare an offensive war. If you seek to battle the Saharan Training Corps by itself, you must first reach an agreement as such with the New Desolate Order.

Sounds like you're missing the point.

The point i'm seeing is that you are both the same alliance? Nick said they are considered members of NDO, so why the need to be separate?
I'm not concerned, i just thought it would make sense if they were NDO

I think the point here is that while AAs in the past have help guide new alliances (i know order paradoxia has helped AAs out their first round)- but it was more a gentleman's agreement than a rock solid treaty.

I think this was a poor move on NDOs part

But this really isn't a new alliance. Sahara has been part of NDO's theme since their first round [i.e. the desolate yellow saharan desert]; it was even their IRC channel [#sahara] until it was dropped and replaced with #NDO very recently Edited by Overlord Wes

Saharan Training Corps is a training alliance.  The goal is to familiarize our newer members with some of the functions of alliance management while screening out those who are unwilling to remain active in the game.  It's also a point of outreach for anyone who is unaffiliated with an alliance, to request asylum or access to trade circle placement.  We want to familiarize newer members with such processes as setting up a TC, managing alliance-wide messaging/build coordination, and facilitate direct outreach to unaligned or transient players to both increase our own numbers and to (hopefully) retain more numbers in CN in general.

It's an experiment, and we'll see how it goes.

Just curious about this part; if such an agreement is reached, would the Saharans be given a warning or would it play out like a normal declaration?

They would know it's coming, they wouldn't know an exact date unless you wished for such a thing. You would then declare as normal.

So let me get this right. You are asking a member of my alliance permission to go to war with my nation, because my TE nation raided a member of your training alliance. Since when did I or anyone for that matter have to start logging into the forums and research if some alliance is the training alliance of another?

That's not my problem.

Wouldn't it be better not telling them it's coming? That would help with their training? But i guess in a sense it would help them by giving them a rough idea of when wars start. We all know when a war is coming so i suppose it wouldn't make a difference

I hope it works out and you can grab a few active members to add numbers to TE Edited by EddyH

It's not that we don't want them to get the full experience, but that we feel a rough idea of when war is coming "week or two etc, not necessarily something like tomorrow or the day after" would help them be prepared for it. New players and those who aren't active daily are bound to make mistakes, and not just a couple. So this sort of balances it out. If we were reached out by an alliance doing something similar, we could consider a surprise war where we don't inform them of anything as it would be more balanced out. It's all in the interest of giving people a chance to not have to pay dearly for their mistakes, and be able to grow and continue coming back to TE, while giving our elite AA a better idea of who we have to work with when war comes. There's no point in pretending to have 20 members when 7 or 8 of them are inactive or don't know what they're doing and aren't able to keep up. It only discourages them, and harms us. This I think to be an elegant solution to both of those problems. 2 birds 1 stone. But we'll see how that goes.

^This.  People who've played for a while get a feel for when wars are coming, know how to make sense of the "All Alliances" page, know what different AA's are and how to calculate theoretical opponents.  i.e. in a hypothetical, if say TPC is at war with Ordo Paradoxia, Misfits+NLON are warring The Alliance, anyone has enough info to infer that NDO won't be attacked by TPC, OP, Misfits, NLON, or The Alliance.  It gets murkier though when you start keeping track of who's been out of war how long.  This game is all about timing, and it takes some time to get used to it.  We were all new once.  The STC gives NDO members a chance to train in "separate" conditions where they're given some autonomy while still being a part of NDO.  I can see a path for this growing into something of an officer training corps, too.

The point I'm making is that there are other ways to get your buddies training. And as I stated in the original thread- I knew this would hold NDO back and cause them problems- and it has!

I like NDO- I think you run a great AA, I just don't think worrying about a 3rd wheel is in the best interest of your AA with bigger fish to fry down the road

I personally don't like much of any of this. If you want your alliance to stay mostly elite then micro yourself as misfits have. I don't like dead weight, you get 1-2 rounds to get into the hook. But now your hiding NS that technically is with NDO without the noobs. So if NDO got down declared would these training guys step in to help? Now your on treaty terms. Seems to me you don't want somebody to match NS and war you with some dead weight at hand. Ask for permission for war? This is TE you have to balance war and build correctly. Train them that way. Post announcements for when they should be prepared. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to sit in defcon1 max soldiers etc when not collecting. So what's with an elite member in the alliance? Is this like a strategy to pick up soft wars? Nothing personal but this sounds like a bunch of turds

Yeah, Stevie was famous for this, tried to help out but it was frizzaless.  If you keep a open door too these ambitious players wanting to open their own.  Only sane way to run it, they learn how to survive and you shrink and grow as their luck!   Allow them to fall or rise worst case slid back with you.

we have too many active members to be a micro.  STC can opt out by their own decision to participate in a war alongside NDO.  if we got downdeclared, adding what you call "a bunch of noobs" to our side isn't going to help us any.  elite member in the alliance is there to ensure communications go through between both affiliations.  and yes, we know you don't like the idea.  we knew that ahead of time because you don't like us.  we don't care.

Since you seem to be illiterate, I suppose there's no point pointing it out to you again. But for any others reading this, as I stated in the OP. The STC is not required to join the NDO in any war.
