You all seem to ignore retention, no wonder this recruiting process seems endless.
That is true.

Does offering money guarantee results?
No.
A number of nations automatically rule out alliances that offer money, and I find those nations are usually the best ones to have; they usually expect to give to their alliance, not take from it.

Stalin won a number of times as well.
They've gone kinda boring since then; really, Osama Bin Laden should have won in 2001, given how much he influenced the world.

i havent really dragged anyone offsite into an alliance...
oh another thing
consistency is key
you cant just recruit for a week and call it quits cause u didnt get any D:
u have to keep at it every day
improve your messages
and your approach xP
and eventually u will get more then one a day
and if ur lucky more then 5
rawr
The GPA has been using the same message for about three years, without a single change.
Probably time to change it, come to think :?

We kinda do, but the mass recruiting isn't as prevalent now, at least from my experience when I rejoined.
-
Spam all new members, and look pretty doing so.
Apart from that, we don't really do much; I usually hang out on #cybernations and can direct new recruits our way if I feel they are suitable quite easily.
TBH, our recruiting system is rather primitive.

Damn, I was following Linzer's statistics; if only I saw this earlier

Now I'm not an "awooga, awooga, abandon ship/the sky is falling" guy, but don't you think the lack of stuff to do is part of why we still have the nations we do? All anyone needs to do is collect once a month or so.
Honestly, I'll never understand why people think game changes will somehow increase nation count. If you look at it, game updates actually decreased them. When there were many more nations in existence at a time, wasn't the game a lot simpler? If you don't like reading and/or posting on here or at least your own alliance forums, you're probably at a greater chance of leaving. So, while this probably isn't a new argument, shouldn't any "game updates" come from we the players?
The best way to start increasing the activity of the game will be via internal alliance means; if an alliance boosts its activity, it will provide a boost for the game as a whole.
The trouble is, boosting that activity is so difficult :/

This game is not a nation simulator.
It is a political simulator, and until you realize that you are going to find the mechanics boring, so join a damn alliance, and shut up.
Oh, and the UN
This entire game is player driven; if you want a UN, set one up yourself.
I'd aim to have at least five of the sanctioned on side before announcing.
Until you manage to set your UN up, how about you do what I suggested earlier and shut up?

Really, something public that should have been private.
No one cares.
And just some random advice, because, why not?
Winner, sell your missile defense; it's useless at your level.
Both of you, buy harbors and get in a trade ring.
The bonuses from the trade ring will do more than the bonuses from an extra guerrilla camp.
Also, when this is done, purchase a Foreign Ministry and start selling tech.
Winner clearly needs the money, and Polemarch probably does (though, as a non-aligned, Polemarch probably won't be able to get them)
(As a side note to that, Winner, stop buying tech. You're lucky you haven't been tech raided yet.)
And too both of you, stop posting random crap on the forums.
Winner, right now I would bet my left boot you won't get into House Baratheon; they have a little more class than that; thus, stop making your hole deeper.

Thank you for the stats Gopherbashi; they are very interesting
