1. "I perfectly understand the situation. It is indeed awkward that one of Quebec's treaty parties acted in such a..... rash matter. I hope that things are not too problematic for Athens." With such small talk done, she was escorted to the Tower of the People, where the meeting would be held.
2. Assuming there is no problem in development and all required parts come together, the US Army seems to be planning to use ETC guns around 2020. Of course, just as we've seen lots of delays in weapon development (F-35 anyone?), it will probably be around in 2025 or so, but since we allow theoretical weapons to be used in their planned date (6th generation fighters, for example), I think 2020 should be the minimum requirement. As for the power of the gun, for a general idea a 105 mm gun will have the power of the 120 mm, and the 120 mm having the power of the 140 mm. Once we factor in caliber and other such stuff, the power might become higher, but for your general understanding think of it as 1.4~1.5 times the power of the regular gun.
3. The concern would be relayed to Quebec, and a signature was added to the treaty, in hope that the process in Mexico would be smooth.
4. Aren't you basically admitting that the crystals cannot be used for thermogenerators, but instead is just another form of solid fuel?
5. List of the problems with your proposal: 1. Heat is not the only thing that is released when the crystals unwind. The explosion that will result from the unwinding by itself means you're basically dealing with a bomb for your supposed generator. Even supposing the material is turned metastable, there is no current method that will allow you to regulate the amount of energy released, and even if we suppose there is one, what are you going to do about the release of light and other such forms of energy? The notion of "releasing the raw, pent-up mechanical energy in any way you please" is itself a physical impossibility that no sane physicist would ever admit to. 2. Thermoelectric generators using the Seebeck effect is not efficient enough to power the kind of large vehicles you are proposing. They're good for INCREASING fuel efficiency, but to generate the amount of power you're proposing would require massive thermogenerators, making any gain in reduction of fuel size worthless. For that matter, I want to see those sources.
6. Blah, how about I make those islands?
7. Just as an example to Yawoo: Zoot's Terminators are "non-canon" in that they have the same capabilities and replenishing rate as regular human troops, and does not have to be recognized by any other players. The main difference with Mara's tech is that it gives a definite advantage based on technology that not only is starting, but does not have the necessary established fact to ensure how the chemical energy is converted back into whatever energy form is needed. It's actually quite explained in the comments to the article Tanis posted.
8. I'm not a GM, so my request cannot put a stop to anything. I'm just being the usual strict Inquisition.
9. Have I said anything about shutting it down? I'm basically asking her to explain what kind of chemical energy that would be.
10. No, given Mara's history of pulling out complete BS without even understanding the concepts behind whatever she develops, I'm going to not give any benefit of doubt here.
11. Vidarr, you can RP whatever you want in a protectorate, regardless of whether it is reserved for new players or not. Frankly, we should allow the use of lighter shades to differentiate homeland proper and controlled territories.
12. More like, what kind of chemical energy is this? Where can we use it?
13. Orders were sent to the Quebec troops in Florida to start redeploying home, and a draft of the PIAT was sent to Mexico. 14. The Federal Republic of Greenland has always been a particular country, with official languages being Standard Greenlandic, English, and Nordlandic. As time passed, Nordlandic gained wide usage in the western, northern, and eastern coasts, forming a new identity of Greenland separate from the heavily populated south or the anarchic interior. With the collapse of the federal government, the Nordlandic regions banded together, and established under the guidance of Protektoratet Grönland. Protektoratet Grönland is a centralized country, in contrast to the federal system adopted under the previous government. The State President and Consul-General structure still remained, with only the power being transferred from the states to the central government. The only major difference is the position of Lord-Protector of the Realm, which was officially still in existence as a separate title of the President (and hence "Protektoratet") but informally transferred from the President to an appointee from Quebec. The task of the Protecteur is to represent the interests of the Quebec state, to ensure that aside from maintain stability, to ensure that Quebec would have a friendly regime in Quebec. Next to the Protecteur there is also a political office of State Secretary who handled most of the internal security. With this, peace had come to the island. In terms of the military, nothing had changed from the days of Greenland. Everything with the exception of Florida was succeed to by Grönland, meaning there would still be a formidable military power in the Arctic. In particular, the satellite system greatly helped Quebec have global coverage, particularly over Europe and Western Canada. From the multi-million organization to the secret service, a great force continued to exist, enforcing the now isolationist policies of the Protektoratet. Flag of Protektoratet Grönland The new president, Bjarni Benediktsson, released the following statement to the world. "The people of Greenland belonged for a millennium to the living space of the Greenlandic people. Violence and want of judgment have torn them arbitrarily from their old, historic environment and finally created, through their inclusion in the artificial structure of federal New Greenland, a center of continuous unrest. Year after year the danger increased that out of this area-as once before in the past-would arise a new, stupendous menace to peace. For the federal state and its rulers had not succeeded in organizing in a reasonable manner the co-existence of the national groups arbitrarily comprised within it, and thus they failed to awaken and to preserve the interest of all concerned in the maintenance of the state common to them. Thereby this state has demonstrated its inherent inability to exist and therefore now has fallen into actual dissolution. The people of Greenland cannot tolerate everlasting disturbances in these areas, areas so decisively essential not only to its own peace and security but also to the general welfare and the general peace. Sooner or later this island would have had to suffer the most serious consequences because it is the power which is the most vitally interested and concerned by history as well as by geographical position. It is therefore only an act of compliance with the law of self-preservation if Greenland is resolved to take decisive action for the reestablishment of the foundations of a peaceful order based on reason and to resort to measures impelled by this aim. For the millennial this historic past of Greenland has proven that it alone is chosen by virtue of its greatness and the qualities of the Greenlandic people to solve this problem. Imbued with the earnest desire to serve the true interests of the nations settled in this living space, to safeguard the national life of the Greenlandic nation, to promote peace and the social welfare of all, I therefore announce, in the name of the people of Greenland, the establishment of Protektoratet Grönland."
15. The discussions were proceeding smoothly, until the eruption of war in the Northern Imperium cut it short. With the basic understanding laid out, the head of states would separate. After the chaos was settled and the small conflict in Florida started, a message was sent to Mexico:
To: Secretariat of Foreign Affairs of the United Mexican States From: Ministry of Foreign and American Affairs of the Greater Quebec Republic Following the discussion on formal relations between our respective governments, much has changed in the geopolitical circumstances. Nevertheless, Quebec believes it is for the benefit of both countries should the basic agreement on a Peace, Intelligence and Aid Treaty be formalized. As to the situation of Florida. the main purposes of the Quebec troops in the region were the protection of Quebec assets and the stable transfer of authority in the region. With Mexico willing to take up the mantle, and the symbol of Quebec-Mexico cooperation, Quebec shall be removing its forces from the region, along with the assets to be brought back. We await your response. Have a pleasant day.
16. Talking to Triyun. To quote:
Were some of those things to the West on Lyn's Map. I have trouble believing I'd have consented to risking an unknown regime being so close to Hawaii?
To me, he's talking as if his consent was needed for what you did with your protectorate, which doesn't make quite sense.
17. According to the map, there are some islands to the south of Hawaii That being said, who was the protector of whatever the islands were?
18. The Greater Quebec Republic recognizes the Kingdom of Pasloe.
19. Shirakime also signed. Shirakime Conseiller en matière de sécurité nationale auprès du Président du République Grand Québécoise "I believe that shall be it. Thank you for coming, Minister Halliwell."
20. "Yes, that would be beneficial to countries and governments. Of course, Ontario companies would be free to share in the work on the shipyards, since we do have extra capacity going idle from a mature shipbuilding industry. As for the military arrangements, we can have our relevant ministries deal with that. Shall you sign the treaty first?"
21. The Greater Quebec Republic condemns the unjustified invasion, and while it accepts the withdrawal, Georgia should not expect to be welcome to the Americas in any capacity.
22. Recently appointed Minister of Foreign and American Affairs Charlotte Dunois was on her way to Athens. Among the treaties that Greenland had signed was a MDoAP with the Athenian Federation. For better or for worst Athens was an American nation, having New Orleans and parts of the Caribbean. It was in the interest of Quebec to maintain at least a neutral position with the Federation, and if possible, take Greenland's place as the Northeastern American ally. It was a tall order, but perhaps not too impossible.
23. You know what, $%&@ it. I'm going with what I believe in and say that Kevin Kingswell's vote counts as he did have a nation when he voted and stayed in CNRP. Congratulations Centurius. Sarah, please confirm. PS: Aside from this, we really need to talk about CNRP franchise. Someone start up a thread so we can try to expand it.
24. That's how the votes were counted back then, leading to a tie and a whole lot of arguments over whether the poll passed or not.
25. Actually, it does. Patrick rerolling to Siberia invalidated his vote in a previous poll.
