  1. We heard a rumour that ODN reckoned that they had better recruiters than us. "Shocking!" said Altheus, "Preposterous!" said Hans, "We'll show em!" said ForeignOwnage amongst others. Unwilling to let this grave insult rest Abdur, UPN Minister of Recruitment, strode like a Titan into ODNs channel and threw down the gauntlet. Game on! Yep, it's a recruitment contest. 8th December to the 8th January. Also...we're going to win
  2. Double celebration as the United Purple Nations has reached 5 million & 300 members on the same day! Naturally we're very excited as this has been one of the fastest and longest sustained growth spurts in UPN's history. My thanks go to all that have made it happen, the Ministry of Recruitment and their wonderful leader Abdur, DonVox and all those involved in the huge ramping up of UPN's economy and of course the UPN Membership without which none of this would have been possible. Onwards to 6 million!
  3. I feel for you. Tough break having to pick up the pieces when half the alliance has walked off. Sent me a pm if I can help with anything.
  4. The two are the same, he's interacting IC with the alliances he's attacking, ergo he's part of the IC political system.
  5. I broadly agree, certainly for nations who are infra buying. The only exception I can think of were the above isn't true are for "big nation" trade circles that don't require construction.
  6. No he's not. Deleting your nation is being "effectively outisde the IC world". Nuke rogueing is being a very active participant of the game.
  7. For over two years now the oldest two sizable alliances in the Purple sphere have shared some form of treaty with one another. It's been one of the longest and one of the most sustained friendships in the cyberverse. It would have been so easy for Legion, back in early 2007 to have been unpleasant to UPN and to have tried to maintain their hegemony on the Purple sphere, but they simply never did and welcomed us from day 1. In return we like to think we freely offered our hand in friendship. Our MDoAP is a an old one, with an unclear treaty text. Not that that really matters as we both know what the spirit of the text is. However in this re-affirmation of our friendship we have used it as an opportunity for a bit of an update. I present to you our new improved treaty!
  8. Interesting thread, nice to know what people feel about you or at least like to portray. (One 5 in particular made me laugh) I'll bite since the main complaint seems to be that no-one knows us. 9. The United Purple Nations hereby announces that it will be leaving the Poseidon MDoAP bloc. It states however (with the agreement of the PEACE bloc) that it will be staying as part of the PEACE ODP. The reason for this movement is twofold, firstly that we have little kinship with some (certainly not all) members of the sphere and secondly we'd far prefer to concentrate on being good members of as few blocs as possible. Simple as that. I strongly suspect that people will make up their own reasons as to why this is so, or quite possibly flame this thread. Well...that's up to you, but we know our reasons (and in fact have told you our reasons) and you may believe us or not. We wish the Poseidon bloc the best of luck, recognise that we have many friends there and will continue to communicate on the Purple Unity boards. Feel feel to contact myself or the UPN foreign affairs team if you have any questions.
  10. Fantastic! Why do I keep dreaming about boats?
  11. Well...this is fun. Reminds me of the good/bad? old days.
  12. Great Treaty, Great Alliances, Great Friends, Great Everything really!
  13. I'll give you a call if I want my biography written After all fiction is more fun than fact
  14. This is quite simply the best thing that happened for a very long time
  15. Congratulations! Don't mind the trolls, they're just getting hungry out of lack of material.
  16. I like the Pegasus alliances a lot so it's not like that. We just have different opinions of how we'd operate it.
  17. I'll admit to just not being a fan of large protectorate blocs (and no that's not a political point, as I'm not fond of OPP or Pegasus as much as I'm not fond of say the Cult of Xander or the Ragnabloc) It's because the idea of a bloc with a lead alliance just strikes me as being more about creating a military bloc with a defined ruler rather than actually looking after anyone. It just seems distateful. I have however talked to a number of people who have run such blocs over the years and believe that on the whole such blocs are created with good intention. Also...no ones forcing anyone to actually these blocs so there is no real cause for complaint.
  18. It would be easy to just pick the smallest sphere or the one with the alliance you dislike most. I'm going to go with the sphere I'd least like to be part of. Due to agreeing with Captain Flinders, definately Maroon
