1. @Trimm and JA Okay, let's play a game of what if. Let's suppose for a moment we didn't bother post up this thread that you're whining about. We'll be stuck with people !@#$%*ing just the same, only about how the big bad NPO is out to get someone, so yeah, you better watch your ass because NPO's back and quiet, which equals dangerous. Oh, wait, we did try that. And what happened? We got attacked and our upper tier thrashed for our efforts. Thanks, guys. Okay, so we posted, clearly stating our position in this matter and you're like WTF?!?!? Come on, guys. Make up your minds. We post, you !@#$%*, we don't post, you !@#$%*. Come on, what do we have to do to NOT get some !@#$%*ing for once? Can't you just be happy with us making it clear what OUR direction is?
 2.
That sounds beneficial except for the uranium, which damages my environment/population happiness. What is the use of this if I don't plan on having a war anytime soon, and can't own nuclear weapons?
Because of the benefit with technology.
If a nations government preference favors nuclear technology for the use of nuclear power plants but does not support nuclear weapons then the nation will receive +$3.00 per citizen and +$0.15 for every level of tech purchased up to level 30 but loses -1 population happiness.
With 30 technology, it's about the same as 5.5 to income. The impact of environment on a small nation is not really all that big.
 3. Moon Mine? It expires after 900 days....
 4. Things you'll want to consider: Alliance Tendency to get Into War (if you're not at all interested in the war aspect of the game, you're better off looking for a neutral alliance like GPA, if you're interested in the war aspect, pretty much any non-neutral alliance would work) Alliance Size (some people have a preference for alliances that are smaller in size rather than large alliances and vice versa. If you feel more comfortable in a smaller alliance, probably alliance under 100 members or so would be worth a look at. If not, alliances above 200 or so members would be worth your time). History (An alliance's history reveals a great deal about an alliance, their government structure, and how said alliance has changed over time. Definitely look at an alliance's wiki on CN Wiki). Money (Some alliances offer a considerable amount of cash aid for new recruits. It's something to consider, though not all alliances will offer cash to new recruits). Recruitment Messages (You'll get a bit of information about some of the more recruitment heavy alliances via your inbox through recruitment messages. Sometimes, you may find that an alliance's recruitment message is good enough for you to seriously evaluate said alliance as an alliance for you.) Main thing is does the alliance feel like a place you can call home? If yes, congrats, you've found your alliance. If not, keep looking.
 5. It really depends on your warchest, your size, and what you mean by nuke attack. If by nuke attack, you mean someone dropping a single nuke on you, then the time frame for recovery is pretty much like triple Zoom said (unless you're like tiny to begin with, in which case, a nuke doesn't do anywhere near its full potential in damage). If by nuke attack, you mean a 1 to 3 month non-stop fighting, it can be as short as a a single back collection (WTF good warchest) to as long as "never" (really crappy warchest, no aid). If you're talking just nuke anarchy, that's a few days time.

 7. Hmm, and you're 100% positive that before 1/19/2012 5:00:00 AM, you were able to to go to War & Battles --> Dropdown Menu on Target --> Nuclear Weapons and see a Launch Nuke screen and NOT a sorry, please wait 24 hours before trying to nuke screen? Damn, you should have screen shot that. It would confirm without a doubt whether it's a bug or not. For all we know, it might be a one off quirky bug with very specific conditions to trigger, something that happens like once in a blue moon...
 8. Were you able to nuke before 1/19/2012 5:00:00 AM? If yes, then there might be a bug. If no, then there is no bug. After a war declaration, you can nuke 24 hours after the war declaration rounded UP to the near hour regardless. In your case, you would have been able to start nuking after 5AM on the 1/19/2012.
 9.
Any seller that can afford a FAC isn't one I'm going to buy from. I'm going to tell them not to buy the FAC, stop selling and start buying. Assuming they are part of my alliance or a friend of my alliance, that is. Otherwise, I'm not spending 25m just to give them an extra 1.5m a month.
Unfortunately, some of us end up fighting wars that often that they've sold tech for far, far, too long, so long, picking up wonders along the way that the FAC is actually a viable wonder to get since they've picked up all the other wonders in their range.... So you don't necessarily have to spend any money for them to get a FAC, .
 10.
Heh, no. I could go into detail as to the strengths and weaknesses of Nordreich military/econ system (our econ boys don't get enough credit mind you) but there is no way that our military could be considered poor. We take on a high damage output/receive stance in every single war. Whether that's the best strategy or not is obviously debatable but that's just how we've done it up to this point. Our military preparedness (if not the result) is easily one of the best in the game as displayed by our stellar blitz in every war we've fought. /mini rant
That's just my opinion based on actually fighting your members in DH-NPO war. The joke was if we were low on warchest and wanted someone to hit for dough, NoR targets were on the top of the list.
NPO is just the opposite--they were hard to gauge before Karma because they had elite/good fighting alliances surrounding them and their role focused more on logistics (aiding allied fighters) and coordination. It was later on that we got to see NPO in action in harder fights and they were exposed as being tech/military improvement/wonder light.
Karma was perhaps the toughest fight we've had to date with DH-NPO a close second. Plus, 2011 hasn't been a great year for us... 7 months out of 12, we've been at war. When you've been pounded on for long enough, it's gonna have an impact.
 11. Elite: Umbrella, The Order Of The Paradox*, Good: Mushroom Kingdom, The Phoenix Federation***, Goon Order Of Oppression Negligence And Sadism****, Nusantara Elite Warriors*, FAN***** Fair: Sparta, Viridian Entente, Fark, Ragnarok Poor: Nordreich^^, The Legion**, Mostly Harmless Alliance* No Opinion: Green Protection Agency, World Task Force, Independent Republic Of Orange Nations, Orange Defense Network, , Non Grata, Global Alliance And Treaty Organization, The Last Remnants, New Polar Order, The Democratic Order, FOK, RnR, NATO, , The Templar Knights, Valhalla, Deinos, Legacy, Argent, Multicolored Cross-X Alliance, The Foreign Division, Green Old Party, The Grand Lodge Of Freemasons, LoSS, Fellowship Of Elite Allied Republics, The International, The Imperial Order, Coalition Of Royal Allied Powers Abstain: New Pacific Order (my alliance) *Never fought them, based more on what I've heard. ** Poor experiences fighting on the same side *** Ally, I greatly apprentice their willingness to fight with us against pretty much everything. **** +1 for their swarm tactics and aid boosting by Umbrella. REALLY annoying to fight them, especially in the lowest tiers. ***** Pain in the ass to fight due to all their blasted members in the lower tiers having nukes... ^^ Uh, yeah, feeding like 2 dozen NPO nations in the last war really shows a lot of skill.... Even though I have no opinion on most of my allies fighting ability, this is mostly because I find actually fighting an alliance to be a better gauge of their ability than fighting side by side....
 12. Part of it is that the newbie themselves has to learn what is optimal for them and part of it is how devastating wars can be for a newbie nation. For instance, when I first started a little over 3 years ago, tech deals were all 3 million for 100 tech. In the first year, I joined a 5BR ring, built up to 1.8k infra and a decent warchest. Then Karma came and utterly flattened my nation (basically ZI/ZT/zero warchest). Effectively that was a nation reset with only a tiny economy boost from the few economic improvements I had left. With the constant struggles to keep the 5BR going, it finally collapses and I switched to a 3BR ring, realizing that economically it made NO sense to focus on infrastructure upkeep when net profit would be greater with a 3BR ring. In the second year, I built up to 2.5k infra and start frantically buying as many wonders I could get my grubby little hands on before slowly building up to 4k infra. Then DH-NPO war came and again, flattened my nation to basically ZI/ZT/zero warchest. However, this time because I was more prepared, I had already acquired a decent number of economic wonders along with the MP, Silo and the Pentagon. With the end of DH-NPO war, I expected I would at best have 6 months to prepare before the next war started and at worst less (due in part due to the NAP with DH, in part due to paranoia from Karma and DH-NPO wars, and in part dislike and distrust of the NAP and the potential it left for back stabbing). The amount of time to prepare was exactly on the money as tensions simmered and ultimately erupted into the TOP-IRON/NpO war, leading eventually to FARK/FAN's "pre-empt" of the NPO. Within those 6 months, I again frantically built up to 4k infra again and bought more wonders. In those 6 months, I managed to nearly complete all remaining economic wonders acquirable at 4k infra along with a few more critical military wonders, leaving only 2 powerful military wonders left: the chancy and very defective SDI and the WRC. I did not bother with the SDI at 4k infra because economically, it would be ruinous to acquire, the equivalent of sacking 3 economic wonders worth of economic strength. Now, in the past, I have actually argued and debated with various members, former members, and others about the merits of a very different build structure and method. Unlike the infra oriented method suggested and recommended by SoL (who retired from the game not too long ago if I remember correctly), the method I used was far more extreme and oriented towards war and its aftermath. The ruins of a nation left after multiple global wars clearly indicated that it is impossible to progress in this game at all relying on infra. In peace, infra fuels economic growth, but in times of war, it adds nothing, but bloat, combat with nations with superior military(though not necessarily superior tactics and strategy), and rapid losses as a result of nuclear weapons. In the aftermath of war with no cash to rebuild with, acquiring large amounts of infra is impractical and slow to fuel an economic revival from the ruins of war EVEN with aid coming in from my alliance. It was abundantly that in a world almost always prepared for war (it requires the powerkeg to be "ignited" before the war starts), the best building method is not one that relies heavily on infra. It is NOT necessary to pump a nation full of aid just to get them up to a level where they can start the wonder cycle. Tech deals alone can do it, BUT a newbie nation MUST be building their nation for the potential for war tomorrow rather than build for a war that might happen in some distant future or worse, think that war will not arrive at their doorstep. To this date, I have yet to have a peace time NS greater than 15k and have never been a "tech buyer" in peace time in that I send 3 million for 50 or 100 tech in 10 days time in 1/2 cycles. The critical aspect is build smarter and build for the possibility of war tomorrow rather than build for a distant war in the future. Pumping pure aid into a nation even with training/support is a high risk, low returns method of building a nation. There is little value in providing so much for nearly nothing in return with no history, no information about how long said nation will survive in a world oriented around ultra destructive wars and politics that few directly get to participate in. Edit: Added a few more details.
 13. If it's ALL fronts, I'll pick March 1st.
 14. Manana of Jonland (NPO POW) has left the NPO POW AA and is sitting on Sparta's AA.
 15. VE is in yellow. What does that mean exactly? Does it mean they are on both sides or ? Also, NG, TLR and VE declared war on Apparatus December 13, 2011 Thanks for putting together this war chart. It really does make it easier to see what's going on.
 16.
No he can't. From what I understand, you could only deploy once a day, by choice or by force, you could only do it once a day.
What Mayzie is saying is something like the following happened: Day 1: Enemy Deploys troops and attacks Update: Day 2: You attack him, forcing a recall in enemy troops. Day 2: Enemy deploys troops and attacks. Although you forced his troops to return home, you forced his troops from his deployment on Day 1 back home. He still has a deploy left for day 2, which he used to attack you with. Does your opponent have significantly greater tech and/or a WRC over you? If yes, that's the reason why you're taking more damage than your opponent on a per GA basis.

 20. Not a bug, I think. 1. Have you been at war EVER in your nation's history? --> Yes --> Grounds Battles, nuclear attacks, etc. take off fractional amounts of tech. Your 0.24 tech is a result of this fractional losses/gains of tech while at war. --> No --> No idea then. To clear the 0.24 tech, go to war and get ZT.......
 21.
Congrats on the outstanding growth. When will you start focusing on you know, tech?
Mhmm, yesterday, . Joking aside, tech does take a lot of time to build up. It's been a crazy past 2 years for us. You'll know when we do start focusing more on tech, .
 22.
Congratulations Iceknave.
Thank you, supercoolyellow.
 23.
Congrats to Iceknave, whoever that is!
Iceknave There you go, RandomInterrupt, . Thanks for the congrats. Damn, didn't think I would win this either, lol. Was originally gonna take the 3rd year anniversary date for when I first joined NPO, but it was already taken. I took the next available slot, which just happened to be the 6th of November.
 24.
thank you it has put itself back to normal, any ideas what happened?
Yeah, it fits what I said earlier, assuming I got the timeline of events right. The economy doesn't recover until AFTER 2 full days have passed. Ie, fix your government on the 27, the first full day is the 28, the second is the 29th, full recovery on the 30th.
 25. Okay, so let me get the order of events correct. Day 0: Put yourself in anarchy. (Around October 24, 2011) Day 3: Changed government out of anarchy. (Around October 27, 2011) Day 5: Current economy is still depressed. (Around October 29, 2011) Is that correct? If yes, likely it'll be fine after update tonight, I think. If not, I'm out of ideas.
