1.
This is like, not true at all. I was looking forward to a war, something to finally get me interested in CNRP again. I was going to RP the hell out of this war, every troop movement, every battle, every arial assault, but I have not gotten that chance. Triyun and I were both excited to go to war at long last
If you want to RP a war so badly, then go to war with each other
2. Valencia thinks the proposed legislation change would be a great amendment.
3. OOC: Once again sorry for the delay, my time has been limited. Hope you aren't angry IC: "No, gracias." A small grin appeared on Ecco's face as he waved his hand in the air and shook his head. "I had a cup on the flight here." He appreciated al-Majid's offer, and Ecco thought he seemed like a good man. However Ecco was taken a bit aback by al-Majid's devotion to Islam. While it certainly seemed reasonable for al-Majid to don traditional Islamic attire, it was a little much to sit upon cushions to do official business. At least in Ecco's opinion. But to be fair, al-Majid had no way of knowing the nature of Ecco's visit. Not wanting to insult his host, Ecco took the place he was offered on the cushion. He smiled as al-Majid took a seat as well. "Primero, Yusuf," Ecco hoped he was not insulting Yusuf by using his first name when they hardly knew each other, "I would like to congratulate you on your election to the mayoral position here in the beautiful city of Cordóba. It is quite the accomplishment. And gratifying, I am sure." He smiled wide at al-Majid, showing his rows of shiny white teeth.
4. Valencia votes sí on Monaco's inclusion into the Mediterranean Parliament.
5.
I think Sil intends to reroll, but don't quote me on that...
If my life wasn't so busy, there would be no question about this
6. Valencia is admittedly shocked by this recent turn of events concerning Louisiana. We shall watch the situation with interest, however we wish all those effected by the situation good luck.
7. Valencia is honored to be accepted into the Mediterranean Parliament. Signed for Valencia, Ecco Suárez El Presidente de la Segunda República de Valencia Justino Gúzman El Vicepresidente de la Segunda República de Valencia Tomàs Peña El Ministro de Asuntos Exteriores para la Segunda República de Valencia Our representative will be Etán Maldonaldo, who was the runner up in the presidential elections.
8.
I used the map you guys provided, but maybe I just did it wrong. Thanks.
Yeah, the map isn't the best, but it does have me owning Albacete.
9. Small mistake with Spain: I own the province of Albacete, not Ezequiel. It should be labeled as part of Valencia, not Espana.
10. OOC: Sorry for the wait, I must have missed this thread among the rest. Also, there is a Harry Potter reference in here, props to anyone who can find it. xD IC: "Felicitaciones, Señor Presidente," Justino said, with a small grin on his face. He extended his hand to shake his friend's. "Gracias, Justino," the President returned Justino's gesture and shook his hand. "It has not been easy, but here we are." Ecco released Justino from his grip and sat down into his black, leather chair. They were in Ecco's office in Valencia, and the sun was shining bright through the tall, thin windows. "I still can't believe we did it. Not that long ago, Valencia was still part of France. But dreams often do come true, as mine has this very week. To be honest, Justino, I didn't know if I would actually be able to do it. To be here, now, in this office, it makes me so proud. Tell me, Justino, how are the rest of the elections around the country going?" "Well, señor, most of the governmental elections across the nation have concluded. There is one in particular, however, that I feel you should know about." A quizzical look overcame Ecco's face. "And what may that be?" He asked. "Well," Justino continued, "A man named Yusuf al-Majid has won the mayoral position in Córdoba. He is a Muslim, and is the head of a movement to establish an Islamic Republic in the city." The quizzical look vanished from Ecco's face, and a twinge of familiarity surged through him. Did this not seem very much like how he had gained independence for Valencia? All that was left was for this al-Majid to write him a letter, and Ecco would be sure history was repeating itself. Ecco, however, was wise enough to know that no such letter would come. No, instead he must meet this man himself. "Justino, get a private jet ready to fly for Córdoba." "Whatever for?" It was Justino's turn to have a quizzical look. "I am going to meet al-Majid in person, and discuss what he wants. If he is able to win the mayoral position when it is known that he supports creating an Islamic Republic, he must have the support of the citizens there. Otherwise, he would have been quickly defeated. Also, I believe that Córdoba has the highest Muslim population in any city in Valencia. The majority of the Second Republic is - me included - Roman Catholic. Perhaps it would be best for Islam to have its own piece of Spain. And finally, I am not a hypocrite. Independence is exactly what I had wanted, and I was granted it. How would it look for me to then turn around and deny it to someone else?" Justino was defeated by Ecco's logic. "Are you suggesting that we grant Córdoba independence? How can you be sure that is what he wants?" "Trust me, Justino, I have lived his life before. Admittedly, I was more upfront about it." A soft smile came across his lips as he remembered writing his letter to Clair Delacour. "But you want to go now, señor? Do you want to at least contact him first?" "No, Justino, Felix is telling me that it would be better to go as soon as possible." And not long after his conversation with Justino, Ecco had landed his private jet in Córdoba.
11.
OOC: You multiply your Working Citizens by .80 (your working citizens * .8). Then you multiply that by 10. For instance, suppose I have 50,000 Working Citizens, I multiply that by .8 to get 40,000. I then multiply that by 10 to get 400,000. That's the total number of soldiers I can have in CNRP. In short, the formula is here: Working citizens * .80 * 10.
OOC: Wouldn't it be much easier to just multiply it by 8?
12. Ecco Suárez Wins Presidential Election Ecco Suárez, who had been the de facto president before elections were held, was elected in a close vote with Etán Maldonaldo. He will be president for the next six years, after which new elections will take place. Candidates are able to run for as many terms as they wish. Suárez has chosen Justino Guzmán (No relation to Linda Guzmán) as his Vice President. Congress elections will be finalized tomorrow, and the number of seats each party has will be reported. National Army of Valencia Established Upon his election to the Presidency, Suárez has officially established the National Army of Valencia. While there had been troops present in Valencia under the control of the de facto government, they had not at the time been legally defined as the National Army. The National Army's duty is to ensure the stability of the Second Republic, protect it's interests at home and abroad, and guarantee the safety of it's citizens. The military will be under the leadership of Endy Miguel, who will be the Minister of Defense, however the Commander-in-Chief of the National Army will be Suárez. Additional Minister spots are as follows: Minister of Foreign Affairs: Tomàs Peña Minister of Finance: Carlos Tizano Minister of Interior: David Elizondo Minister of Education: Manuel Eleuterio Minister of Justice: Paulino Cansaño These people have been appointed by Suárez, and will be approved by congress after its formation tomorrow. If a Minister is not approved by congress, then the President will have to find a replacement. Valencia Applies for Mediterranean Parliament membership The Second Republic has submitted its application for the Mediterranean Parliament. The stability of Europe is an important idea to Valencia, and by joining this Parliament they believe they can help secure it. So far, Valencia has been supported by the Athenian Federation, France, and the Sicilian League, with no vote yet from the Slavic Federation. If the Slavic Federation either abstains or votes for Valencian membership, the Second Republic will become a member of the Parliament. However, if the Slavic Federation votes against, the Second Republic will remain outside of the Union.
13. Election Results Coming In With voting over half way over, the estimated current number of votes are as follows: Ecco Suárez - 5,109,824 Etán Maldonaldo - 4,890,701 Linda Guzman - 2,710,945 André Domingo - 803,731 Hersilla Aguirre - 289,349 Santo Apiricio - 120,193 With this being the first election for the Second Republic, high voter turnout was expected and thus far seems that it will be the case. Final results are expected to be confirmed tomorrow.
14.
DeSchaine's land will not be edited yet. As I've told everyone on IRC, an update will come on the 17th, the one-month date since the last update since I'm weird like that.
Sargun, a one month update is fine for now, but please don't make this a common thing
15. We recognize and welcome South Portugal to the world. Being such close neighbors, we hope that relations will always be cordial.
16. OOC: Newsthread for The Second Republic of Valencia, OOC or IC comments welcome as long as they don't become too much. Actions/News will be public unless stated otherwise. IC: Elections Begin in Valencia With the formation of the Second Republic, a leader needs to be put in place. Up to this point, Valencia has been run de facto by Ecco Suárez, who is a leading candidate for the Presidential position. An early list of the candidates are as follows: Ecco Suárez - Partido Demócrata de Valencia Background: Highly educated, wealthy. Experience in government positions, late thirties. Popular with common people. Policies Strong state government Anti-Imperialist Diplomacy over war Economy is main focus Favors lower classes, higher taxes for rich Closer relations to Europe Move towards renewable energy Liberal Etán Maldonaldo - Partido Conservador de Valencia Background: Highly educated, fairly wealthy. Relatively new to high government positions, however shows great potential. Popular with upper/upper-middle classes. Policies Larger federal government, but not excessive Anti-Imperialist More military emphasis than Suárez, but still diplomacy first Favors wealthy more than poor Closer relations to Europe Move towards nuclear energy Conservative André Domingo - Partido Verde (OOC: As in money, but you aren't supposed to know that IC ) Background: Extraordinarily wealthy. Ties to criminal organizations but never proven guilty. Household name in Valencia, though not necessarily a good thing. Policies Huge federal government Staunch imperialist Strong federal government Powerful military Expansion Move towards cheaper fossil fuels, nuclear energy Highly conservative Santo Apiricio - Partido Comunista de Valencia Background: Communist. Wrote a book on the benefits of communism. New to Spanish politics. Low support overall. Policies Communism Redistribution of wealth Relations with other communist countries Spread communism throughout Iberian Peninsula, Europe Renewable energy sources, nuclear energy Hersilla Aguirre - Partido para Paz Background: Former environmentalist, well educated, reasonably wealthy. Anti-war, anti-fossil fuels, low popularity due to neutrality policy Policies: Valencian neutrality Focused mainly on internal growth Relations with other nations, but only to a certain degree Renewable energy sources Moderate, leaning liberal Linda Guzman - Partido Popular de Valencia Background: Well educated, very wealthy. Experienced government member. Policies: Stronger state government, though not excessive Focus on economy Favors middle classes Closer relations to Europe Moderate Renewable energy sources Election results will be tallied up and announced in the near future. In the mean time, there will be updates as votes come in. Early favorites are Suárez and Maldonaldo, although Guzman has a small following in the northern regions.
17. I don't know who to congratulate here, both alliances gained something out of this announcement. I guess cheers all around! =D
18. Valencia would like to apply for membership into the Mediterranean Parliament. We contain a large coastline on the Mediterranean, and much of our land and people were once part of the Union (as a part of France). We hold many of the same ideals, including non-colonization of Europe. Our previous incarnation even fought a war (admittedly not the best) to attempt to stop it. Being a young nation, we want to prove that we are a reliable and trustworthy ally.
19.
I'm not even sure why NSO made this list. We've never cried about anything ever.
Just because you had a messy breakup doesn't mean Fernando was never in your alliance. Granted, him not being there anymore helps prevent you from getting my vote.
20. You made a poll! =D But seriously, I null voted. No NSO, Legion, ect. Not saying they would win, but this poll is a little too short of options.
21.
"Rebel Army has been rather silent lately, perhaps Valencia is taking advantage of the silence? It will take more than Valencia's army to wrestle away Rebel Army territory, Louisiana suggest allying with one third of the world if you want to accomplish that particular goal. Trying to steal Rebel Army territory aside, Louisiana wishes both these young nations the very best of luck." OOC: Why did you guys essentially just swap sides with the new territory?
OOC: Where is the Rebel Army territory? I realize that they have an end on the southern point of Spain, and I'm not pretending to own that. (just lazy with the map) But besides that me and Zeke just traded Madrid and the surrounding area for Andalusia. It as simple as we wanted some of each others land. Since I had Madrid, and Zeke had Andalusia, where did we infringe on Rebel Army's territory? EDIT: IC: Valencia does not claim any of Rebel Army's land, there was a misprint on an earlier map and a new one has been submitted. OOC: Added Rebel Army land on the map, however it may not be accurate. Just letting you know that whatever Rebel Army has, is his.
22. New Spain map: RP here: http://forums.cybernations.net/index.php?showtopic=92099 Yellow labeled Valencia, purple labeled España (If you can't do a ñ, I'm sure Zeke won't mind too much) EDIT: Probably should add that Rebel Army keeps his spot on the southern tip, was too lazy to add that into the map :\
23. Once upon a time, Spain was a single, unified nation. That is no longer the case. The Spanish region has long consisted of many smaller nations, and been under control of non-Spanish places. Recently, the French have gained influence over the area once known as Spain. Today, two new nations begin their rise. Two Spanish nations. Here is the first's Declaration of Existence: La Segunda República de Valencia The city of Valencia was once the capital of one of the most successful nations in modern Spanish history. The Republic of Valencia, however, crumbled and disappeared. Today, the Second Republic of Valencia declares it's independence from France. While France has done a great job protecting our region, we wish to seek our own cultural and political identity. This does not mean that it will be the opposite from France; indeed the people here are very fond of the French and close relations with our former protector will be a cornerstone in our Foreign Affairs. However the people of the former republic have spoken. Votes were held across the region and the mood was for a second chance. Granted, not all of Spain felt that Valencia held their best interests in mind, and did not join the new republic. Instead, they became part of the other Spanish nation, which is expected to be announced shortly. After today, Spain will look like this: (Rebel Army keeps their territory in southern Spain) (OOC: Purple is Zeke, Yellow is me, Orange is the NPR, and Blue is France, Brown is Rebel Army) Elections will be held in the Second Republic in the near future. We would like to thank France for all she has done for our people, we will not forget. Today, we try again. Today, we start anew. OOC: Zeke will be posting his DoE in here too. Should be fairly soon. EDIT: Fixed
24. And the best part is, I gained 800 tech because of it! It's nice to see the Legion is so butthurt over winning that they need to make a thread to prove they 'don't care'.
25. Ecco was up all night, thinking. Did he have the fortitude to do what he wanted? Was he courageous enough to make his dream come true? Ecco Suárez was a tall, lanky man in his late 30's. His short, jet black hair and tan skin was typical for a man with his heritage. Dressed in a black suit and tie, he gave off a professional vibe. He attended and graduated among the top of his class from the University of Valencia, with degrees in Law, Economics, and Social Sciences. Everyone who knew him considered him to be wise and fair. Being from a Spanish region in French territory, he was fluent in both languages. He was a hard worker and completely selfless. And to top it off, he was a relative of Edgar Suárez, who was once the Vice President of The Republic of Valencia. It was because of this blood connection that Ecco felt he owed the people of Valencia something. The government of The Valencian Republic had slowly stopped functioning, to the point where it did nothing for the people. Eventually it was taken under the gentle care of the French. Sure, the French had been phenomenal in their care of the former Valencian people, but Ecco felt like Edgar had robbed them of something incredibly important. Edgar and his fellow government members had robbed Valencia of an identity. And tarnished the Suárez name in the process. This is why Ecco was up in his room, pacing back and forth. He had been daydreaming for ages what he would have done if he was in charge then, instead of the crooks who were. This desire had forced Ecco to make a decision; however now that he was about to execute it he wasn't sure if he was able to. Who was he, to ask something of Claire Delacour? He was no one compared to her. Just another man. Ecco may have been intelligent, but if that's all it took then why wasn't Claire bombarded with requests such as the one Ecco had for her? It's because no one is as crazy as I, Ecco decided. Finally, Ecco came to a halt. He must do it. He must pursue his dream. Glancing over to his bed (which Ecco had, of course, made at the beginning of the day), he noticed a white envelope upon it. After taking a deep breath, he turned to look at his desk. The lamp on it was still lit, and was the only thing lighting the otherwise dark room. Under the light of the lamp, a letter sat. Ecco walked over to the desk, picked up the letter, and reread it for the umpteenth time: Dear Madame Claire Delacour, (OOC: I am not familiar with the appropriate title for an important woman in French, so if Madame is incorrect pretend it's whatever is right ) Bonjour. It is an honor to be able to write to you. My name is Ecco Suárez. You may recognize my name due to my shared ancestry with one Edgar Suárez, the former Vice President of The Republic of Valencia. I currently reside in the city of Valencia. If I may, I would like to request a meeting with you or some sort of representative to you. There is something I would like to discuss, something I feel very passionately about. I posses the means and willingness to travel to Paris if need be in order to have this meeting, and am perfectly content with changing my schedule to fit yours. There is nothing I can think of that means more to me than what this meeting could bring. I would be greatly honored if you would accept my request for a meeting. If you wish, you may contact me with the return address on the envelope. Sincèrement, Ecco Suárez Ecco finished reading the letter. It was utter garbage, in his mind, but it would have to do. What use was it to spend, say, another week editing it? He wanted to start from scratch again, but he had already done that too many times. No, he would use this letter. He could only hope that Claire would approve of the meeting he so badly wished to have with her. Folding the letter into thirds, so that it would fit into an envelope, he sighed again. He opened a drawer under the desk and pulled out a clean envelope. Placing the letter inside, he wrote the proper address upon the envelope and sealed it. Ecco glanced once more at the other envelope, the one still on his bed. He would read it later. After grabbing a fedora hat off of the hat rack, he walked out of his room and out of his house. A letter like this would not be simply placed into a mailbox. Instead, Ecco drove to the nearest post office and payed the fee for first class shipping. All there was to do for now was wait. EDIT: Broke up paragraphs so it's not so cluttered
