  1. OOC: I used to roleplay under the modifier of IG nukes * 100, as 2500 nukes seems much more reasonable for a large state than mine. Recently I learned it was generally accepted that it's directly proportional. on hearing this I felt it makes sense from a balance standpoint but moving on. Apparantly the GM's have ruled otherwise so I shall return to 2500. Furthermore apparantly exoatmospheric nuclear blasts (emps) no longer count towards nuke count which was my prior understanding. Not that it matters with relatively limitless access to nuclear warheads. IC: The effectiveness of Rebel Army's SDI had been grossly underestimated. It was almost as if some higher being was protecting him. Their apparent $@roach like ability to survive a nuclear holocaust had resulted in them retaliating with much greater force than was expected. They had only launched 3x 700kt nuclear warheads at Naboo. One was at the already evacuated population centres in North Africa. In some ways this miss-targeting was a blessing, as the military was located outside in the desert, mostly in Fort Omni and other nuclear bunkers around the region, away from population centres (OOC: Roleplayed this in the joint statement thread!). The deserted city of Marrakech was in ruins. The fireball was about 700m wide, leaving a scorched crater - the surrounding area was flattened for several kilometres, leaving the outskirts irradiated and moderately damaged. The city could not realistically be returned to for some time. To the citizens of Naboo, many grateful for escaping with their lives, the greatest loss was the great resort that had been built nearby. Such trivial items were hard to build within Naboo. That was not all however, they had striked directly at our homeland, as we had theirs. This was not surprising, but fortunately the leaders had foreseen the vulnerability of the artificial island to nuclear strikes and had made moves to protect it. Today the emperor's wisdom had proved its worth, the island still stood, now even more so the testament to human ingenuity than before. The warheads struck opposite sides of the island, the left a few seconds before the right and detonated several hundred metres above the surface. The blast was fierce, a great fireball arose into the sky and the passive defence systems came into play. The radiation was the first to hit - massive spikes were seen throughout most of the spectrum. The weaker levels were absorbed by the heavily reinforced concrete, literally several kilometres wide, the rest was largely absorbed by the reinforcement framework which acted as a large Faraday cage, guiding the energy into the earth in the form of electricity. Some however still managed to penetrate several areas which became mildly irradiated for the next couple of months as a result. The sensors by now knew what was going on and all power had been diverted to the Liquid Helium Thermal Redistribution network. The shock wave hit a little less than a second later, the system still moving up from 80% to 100% effectiveness. A great force hit the walls, a large section of the reinforced concrete closest to the blast was destroyed, the whole section weakened. The mechanical wave rapidly moved into the wall of concrete until it came across the large expanse of expanding piezoelectric foam. Normally this was used to take energy from the impacting waves, however it had a much larger capacity to absorb mechanical energy than that. The electrical production surged as a result, the energy either being dumped into the ground or stored in high density capacitor arrays were possible. The surge fried many of the storage banks, causing some to even catch fire but this was minor damage compared to what it had saved. The shock wave was severely reduced, a mild earthquake rumbled through the structure, displacing moderately sized items. Minor injuries were prevalent with concussions being the worst. unfortunately, as the thermal system had not come online to 100%, there was still just enough heat to cause further damage to the structure, a great crack formed, penetrating into the depths of a light residential section. Immediately ionic radiation was detected within the sector and the whole area was locked down. Six hundred citizens were sealed in where they received anywhere from between fatal to sterilising levels of radiation depending on where they were before assistance teams could save them. The rest of the heat was rapidly channelled out and into the sea, raising the local water temperature within the exclusion zone by 1.5 degrees Celsius. The second one struck moments later on the other side. Things proceeded more smoothly on this side however, the system had been designed to withstand repeated attacks from 800kt warheads when operated at full capacity, and now it was. Like before, the gamma radiation was mostly absorbed. Now that all the heat was rapidly being channelled into the ocean by super fluid turned gas, the shock wave proved a lot less damaging. It had managed to remove enough energy that the piezoelectric foam was able to handle most of the rest. Citizens within Omni island merely felt the ground shake a little. The most worry result of this was the local water temp had been raised by 4 degrees - what would this mean for ocean currents worldwide? (OOC: http://forums.cybernations.net/index.php?showtopic=39176) They had done it - they had proved to be more the $@roaches than their enemy so far. Their SDI system had apparently completely failed to intercept any of the missiles however. This was unacceptable. It was clear a more effective system would be needed in the future. However it was now time to neuter this beast once and far all. First things first, RA's SDI had to go, and go it would. Naval vessels in the Atlantic and the pacific fired off a barrage of Anti-satellite missiles and would continue to fire them until they were all downed. This was supported by ASAT missiles launched from aircraft. Meanwhile Intelligence satellites scoured extra hard to find RA missile sites. It was time to remove their ability to sting. Nuclear Command was scrambling. Most silos had been already located, however intelligence satellites made a last check to confirm locations and also to try and source the location of any mobile launchers. After two hours, it was go time. What final information that could be gleamed from intelligence had been loaded into the guidance systems. For the next 5 minutes, 500 missiles launched from about 70 sites. A wide range of missiles, from the famous H-ICBMs that could carry upto 50 warheads to the lighter ones which could only carry several, or even one! A grand total of 2000 nuclear warheads begun their deadly arc. They ranged in power from 50KT to 30MT with larger ones targeting cities, fortified installations, missile silos, command bunkers and other important sites, whilst smaller ones targeted military bases, and the RA Navy. Nuclear bunker busters were used as appropriate. Some steered off from the others to hit Gebivian targets. Particularly in North Africa. The number of nuclear warheads however were matched by the number of non-nuclear. Approximately 500 chemical warheads, 500 biological warheads and 1000 high-powered Thermobarric warheads. Finally, Exoatmospheric EMP weapons were fired, exploding over RA and Gebiv. "By this point a nuclear winter was coming regardless, we might as well make it a good one." Was all the emperor had to say. Supersonic bombers, both tactical and strategic armed with nuclear, chemical, biological and even some conventional weapons were launched with a great escort from North Africa. They were mostly escorted by Vectors, the main air supremacy aircraft within Naboo. There were however some of the newly developed F65 Vanguards in numbers worthy of being wary of. The bombers were ordered to lay waste to what remained of Gebiv. Not a single city was to be spared. OOC: I request any and all rolls to be done by Hawk. Also I still have ~500 warheads remaining, on mobilelaunchers, submarines and about 30 more hidden underwater silos.
  2. Unless the person registers on one of their enemies' boards (or an ally of which), in which case they, as a person may very well no longer be welcome on said forum, their property, it is very hard to track someone down via forum IPs. It would make things a lot easier if we could use CN forums but we can't (which is probably a good thing). IRC can be very easy to solve, get a proxy, or request a special hostmask. Stay out of the rooms of your enemies and don't be terribly obvious by telling everyone in the world who you are.
  3. Meanwhile, the Metapods were unifying. Previously having been a loosely associating series of minor city states, with the largest being based out of Edo with a series of warlords forever vying for conquest, but now a grand army set forth from Edo with a great many metapods in their new tanks and aircraft. Eventually they came to use aircraft as their primary weapons of war and developed devastating weapons for them. These weapons enabled the conquest to be achieved. At last the metapods were united but the war had damaged the metapod nation greatly and it would take some time to return to come to its full power.
  4. It took a while, but after several weeks of listening to this, basics of the language were understood. A simple message was constructed to communicate with these people, the "storm dragons" or something. As they had no easy means of speaking the words, they merely used samples from recordings to constructed a disjointed sounding message. "Greatings, we are METAPODS located in METAPOD NATION on the other side of the PACIFIC OCEAN"
  5. The signal came across as largely unintelligble, but it was traced back and it was readily interpreted as an audio signal. Metapods may not be able to speak but they could hear, and living near to Kyokujitsu, they knew other species communicated vocally. At this time, they did were unable to translate the signal, so they merely returned the same message. Looping it, awaiting further response.
  6. OOC: I realise it is frozen before the nukes flying, but in the case that they are continued, this was intended to be posted early alongside Triyun's post. Whilst the UFE was making their devastating first strike, final preparations were being made within Naboo. All civilians had been withdrawn from North African Naboo and the military had dispersed to the many short term nuclear bunkers. Naboo Nuclear Command, Omni Island, Level 0. The aged man sighed, creases on his forehead belied the long and stressful carrier this job had given him, the sweat gave away the intensity of the current situation. It was a job that he somehow found enjoyment in though. He was highly ranked within the Naboo Aeronautics sector of the military but once the nuclear command became part of the space agency his title had merely become "The Angel of Death" - a title he found both pleasing but mildly disturbing. Today he knew he would truly earn that title. The room was only dimly illuminated from the light of the many LCD screens positioned around the room; the silence was unnerving to those unaccustomed to it. A siren sounded and a flash of light. The main screen suddenly alight with warnings. Information on the screen informed all in the room that 25 Bassilisk heavy ICBMS had been loaded with active warheads. It gave a brief run-down - four had been armed with a MOD82 layout, also known informally among the team as "PENAID city killers", one was loaded with a MOD24 package, known as "PENAID Death's Hand" among the crew for it was a particularly dirty army killer. The remaining twenty warheads were MOD72 packages, the so called "PENAID Mountain Busters". The screen gave a read out for a combined total power of three hundred and thirty-five megatonnes. PENAIDs is the term denoting heavy usage of "Penetration Aids" - devices designed to assist in penetrating strategic defence systems. The H-ICBM was particularly suited to this, with its throwing weight it was capable of carrying a payload with upto 50 multiple independent (targetable) re-entry vehicles. MOD packages labled with "PENAIDS" used at least 75% of its space in the form of Penetration Aids. Penetration Aids are dummy warheady warheads - they appear identical to real warheads to defence systems. All warheads, both real and fake contain chaff and heavy jamming systems in a PENAID system. In the particular loadouts chosen for this mission, all missiles had 49 dummies and one real nuclear warhead - a grand total of 1250 MIRV warheads. The phone rang and the aged man answered, spoke not a word and hung up. "It is time" he muttered. Several other men entered the room at that time and they all moved to a special console. Each pulled out a key and simultaneously inserted and turned them. They then entered a code into their respective parts of the console and then sat back. All targeting information had already been loaded into the missiles it was time. The UFE offensive was just finishing. He spoke several commands and codes into the council, ensuring that each was clearly enunciated before finally withdrawing a cartridge which he inserted into the console and locked in. A timer flashed onto the screen, satisfied that it need not be adjusted, the commander opened the hatch protecting the launch button and depressed his right index finger upon it. The timer started flashing, counting down from 10 minutes. The whole room just stared in silence, as crews around the base scrambled to complete their tasks. As it finally reached zero, a rumbling bang was heard throughout various areas of Omni Island as 25 missiles were ejected from their silos with powerful pistons. Their powerful rockets fired when they were already well clear of the silo, quickly accelerating the weapons of mass destruction into the atmosphere, arcing westward. They arced over the United Francoist Empire and within thirty had nearly passed over the Dilberian Empire. It is here the packages separated from 25 missiles, relatively easily tracked into 1250 warheads re-entering the atmosphere, a number that would be impossible for even the most advanced systems to track, let alone attack. In many cases it was common for systems merely to overload and fail just attempting such. As the warheads descended upon their targets, like screaming fingers of light and death, the world would see that SDI's are far from infallible. The needles of light falling from the sky just kept coming - it looked like a meteor shower to those on the ground, but far more deadly. The mass of jamming nearly blanked out radar systems all over RA. In the command room, they all followed the progress on the screen. The four city killers streaked towards their targets, Riyadh, Jiddah and King Khalid Military City in the Arabia and Nicosia in Cyprus. These were each 30MT warheads; quite enough to leave them as rubble. The dirty, "death's hand" streaked towards Mannelig's large army in the mountains. It was hoped Mannelig might even be there himself but he would have a way of surviving even if he was no doubt. Most interesting though, the remaining twenty warheads, army with nuclear bunker busters were aimed at every oilfield with more than 10 billion barrels of oil remaining in them. If they were all hit, about 459 billion barrels of oil would go up in a nuclear blaze. Everyone continued to watch intensely to see what hit, and what, if anything was intercepted. OOC: targets Saudi Arabia Riyadh Jiddah King Khalid Military City Cyrprus Nicosia Oil Fields Ferdows/Mound/Zagheh Field Esfandiar Field Azadegan field Ahvaz Field Marun Field Gachsaran Field Aghajari Field Rumaila Field West Qurna Field Majnoon Field Burgan Field Mesopotamian Foredeep Basin Raudhatain Ghawar Field Shaybah Field Abqaiq Field Berri Field Manifa Field Faroozan-Marjan Field Safaniya-Khafji Field Total 459 billion barrels of oil

  9. Naboo North Africa: With the recent spate of nuclear explosions relatively nearby, people were in a scramble. Radiation pils were widely available fortunately however it would still take several days for any radiation to reach them by the wind. Civilians scrambled into ships and planes for evacuation. Planes brought people one way, and returned with supplies - air filters, suits, radiation pills and all that was needed for the soldier population to survive for now. The area, once a resort for Naboo citizens would be abondoned.
  10. To better facilitate communications throughout their population, a communications grid was quickly established. Metapod scientists had manufactured a device that could accurately re-create the complex pheromones and weak EM signals that made up the majority of their language. Anyone who happened to listen in on the particular frequencies would here a strange variety of digital sounds (ooc: think a dialup modem).
  11. In the eastern regions of Honshu, the islands of hokkaido, and gaum, a strange species had risen to dominence. This species was dependent upon photosynthesis for much of its energy, although it was capable of consuming flesh. Lacking any vocal systems, the metapods had developed a complicated commumnication system based on pheromones, body language and limited telepathy, able to convey an idea or semantic that would be otherwise difficult to convey. Ultimately despite their quirks however they were an insectoid creature and semi-hive minded. As such it didn't take long for the creatures to begin efficiently constructing several luxurious cities to live in. To date there were two major ones, Edo and Sapporo, with a few smaller settlements in their outlying territories. How they constructed such buildings was largely a mystery to any who should stumble upon this strange race as they lacked any visible appendages. This was ofcourse part of their defense mechanism, in actuality, each had several long limbs that were invisible in all but the lowest of EM spectrums. How was this so? Nobody knows: but it was so.
  12. I was expecting FOUND to be some horribly contrived acronym. The fact that it isn't is very refreshing so kudos. Goodluck
  13. I don't think I've seen 200k being a milestone post since 06
  14. You've come a long way from the alliance our academy counter-declared war on. A rocky start to a rock solid finish -congratulations on acheiving a sanction, it's well deserved!
  15. Such a pity. Congratulations, none the less.
  16. Anyway lets see. *Generic description that fits 95% of alliances *Advertising startup aid (and a low amount at that) *music that would be 10x better without the singing *typos *blurry, compression artifact riddled red text *generic military videos Yep, seems like a pretty standard recruitment video. EDIT: And seriously, if you're going to name yourself WANG you might as well use the comedic value of it.
  17. DAY 33 The RVS Guppy has taken the lead again but it is challenged by Mirrielle's Left Breast, which has been a fierce competitor in this event. The Perquod is still in the race. Elsewhere the Thunderbay Anarchist Commune's vessel made astounding progress, only to be mobbed by mormon doorknockers and sunk. OOC: Please note, I didn't quite copy the data into the fields correctly and didn't notice untill now but Ile de Noir and RV should be swapped places. Their correct positions are: Rebel Virginia 1114 km Ile de Noir 1074 km All the rest are fine. THIS IS THE LAST ROUND. POST YOUR FINAL ATTACKS ETC.
  18. Taking their captains hatred to heart, the mormons fired professional doorknockers onto the neo japanese vessel. When they arrived they quickly made their way to the captains chamber. So they knocked. No response. They knocked some more and still there was no response. After an hour of knocking and waiting, some calling a scrap of paper was slid out from under the door. Written on it was "No one is home". Dismayed, the mormons left the ship to find their next door. Knowing that retaliating would only signal to them that he had "returned", he ordered the craft travel as quickly as possible to escape. The battle was a draw And onwards he paced! It was a standard volley but it was super effective, the ship would not be moving for some time. Can't attack someone who has already been attacked. The crew continued to fire but they had yet to overcome the melting problem. In the end a lot of noise was made and the guns became rusty. It seems however the noise was enough to alert the crew of the Neo Japanese ship. After a long barrage that appeared to do nothing, they decided to vent their irritation from the mormons on Wanatat. And vent they did
  19. We question the wisdom in the decision to take upon itself the former moniker of such a controversial nation. A nation that is loved by as many as it is hated by.
  20. Imperial scientists were severely disappointed, albeit not terribly surprised that the so called Rebylvirgine is merely monosodium glutamate. The substance, which has long been used to stimulate the imami tastes is also believed to cause health issues in some consumers. Whilst this raises both serious concerns as to the ability of wanatat chemists, it more importantly implies serious environmental issues within the lake it was found and currently being harvested from.
  21. The payment has been made. We will await arrival.
  22. It is clear that neither side has all the facts, I feel it would be irresponsible for the PAC to involve itself in this conflict at large given this state. That is all.
  23. The Omniscient Empire would like to purchase 50 tonnes of this material for scientific analysis.
  24. OOC: Mostly out of curiosity more so than complaint, but where exactly have they crossed your waters?
