Department of Communications, Washington, D.C., Rebel Virginia - A man in his mid-thirties took a seat. He was dressed in a brown suit and had a nice haircut. Next time him was a young blonde woman dressed in pink. They were government employees and the faces of Rebel Virginian propaganda. Their job was to say on television what the government told them to say, and they did a good at it. They smiled and looked at the camera.

"Today over 350,000 people have converted to Roman Catholicism and accepted Pope Bubba XIII as the rightful leader of the church, and God's own voice on Earth. These people have all been made full citizens of the Theocratic Republic." the man said as he held some papers. "The government of Rebel Virginia today has also decreed today that converting to our faith will now be a requirement for residency within our nation. Religious education and classes will be provided for all non-Catholics and non-citizens. Attendance is mandatory."

"In other news," the woman spoke, "Rebel Virginia's borders have been closed. Anyone attempting to enter or leave the country without prior permission will be shot. Rebel Virginian legislators have deemed this necessary for the security and stability for our glorious nation."

"The government understands that some of these recent changes may be unpopular within the non-citizen population, but civil servants will be available to address their concerns, and to explain them why this is good for them." said the smiling haircut man. "In other news, all 350,000 full citizens of Rebel Virginia have been provided with small arms and have been reminded that it is their civic duty to educate all non-citizens of the benefits of pledging loyalty to the Theocratic Republic and converting to the one true faith. They have also been reminded to report all dissent to authorities, and if necessary, deal with traitors themselves. The government understands that our small military cannot police the entire nation on their own, and trusts its loyal citizens with this matter. Also, war! Kent Brockman has more on the story."

The camera turns to an older man in a blue suit.

"Today is a sad day for both Rebel Virginia and the world." Brockman spoke. "Shillian barbarians have attacked, without reason, our friends and eternal allies. Triyunica, with whom we have secured our friendship with on this very day, was attacked only hours after the treaty we had signed with them was announced. Two passenger ships, the Titanic and the Lusitania , have been converted for military use. The Theocratic Republic will be sending 2,500 of its finest to defend our ally. We will not leave until we know victory. We shall march ever onward. Back to you, Ron."

"Quite a story Kent." the smiling haircut man again spoke. "In other news, His Holiness the Pope Bubba XIII has announced today the commissioning of the Great Wall of Rebel Virginia, which is expected to take several years to complete. We will be having His Excellency the General Edmund Donovan MacDoogle discussing the non-classified details of the project on with us tomorrow. This wall, in addition to the chemical weapons we announced earlier today, will be part of our plan to ensure the survival of our glorious nation. It is our government's priority to ensure the sovereignty of our people, and to bring about lasting peace and prosperity in our land."

"And speaking of military news, the first of our new M4 Cougar tanks rolled out of our factories in Pittsburgh and Buffalo earlier today." the blonde woman said with a smile. "The military has ordered a total of 1,500. General MacDoogle will be providing us with details on these tanks tomorrow when he comes on."

"Well friends, it looks we have to take a quick break. But coming up......kittens! Adorable aren't they, Stephanie?" the smiling haircut man said. "And now, a message for our sponsor, Cheerdrop. The cherry flavored soda with a twist of lemony goodness."

"And cut." yells the producer. The news cut to a commercial before returning.

"And we're back." the smiling haircut man said while holding a bottle of Cheerdrop in his hand. "This is some good stuff. In fact, the Pope strongly urges all loyal citizens of the Theocratic Republic to buy a pack-"

"Or two!" interrupted the blonde woman.

".....today." the smiling haircut man continued. "15% of the profits go to military. So be a good citizen and buy, buy, buy!......And now, before we get to our final story of the night, we would like to relay a message from the State Department. As of today Rebel Virginia is open to diplomatic ties with other nations, and foreign investing will continue to be allowed, pending approval from the Departments of State, the Interior, Defense, and Urban Development. Should any foreign nation like an embassy in Washington, all they need to do is send a message to the Secretary of State, Cardinal Paddy O'Reilly. And now for the moment you've all be waiting for....."

"Kittens!" cried the blonde woman.

"Late last evening, Press Secretary, and former action movie star and bodybuilder-" the smiling haircut man said before being cut off by his co-anchor

"Don't forget professional hunk!" the blonde woman said with excitement.

"I'm sorry Stephanie, but he's in the government now, and he's also married," the smiling haircut man said in a patronizing voice, "So I think it's about time you get over your little crush. But yes, Rebel Virginia's own Burly Brawnson's beloved white cats, Snowball and Snowy, produced an adorable litter of kittens. Bill Williams is live with him now."

The news cuts to a clean man in his late twenties, wearing glasses, who was sitting with the Press Secretary.

"So, what are their names?" Williams inquired.

"Well, this one is Mittens, and this one is Puddles" said Brawnson in his deep Austrian accent. "This one I think I'll name Muffins, and this one...."

"I'm sorry Mr. Brawnson, but that's all the time we have for today." Williams said. "Back to you, Ron."

The show returns to the newsroom.

"They're so adorable." said the blonde woman. "I have to have one."

"Yes, they certainly are cute, but that's all the time we have for tonight." the smiling haircut man said into the camera. "Tune in tomorrow. This is Ron Johnson for Channel 4 News signing off."

"And this is Stephanie-" the blonde woman spoke before being cut off my the credits.

The camera zoomed out on the stage, showing more cameras filming the show. Credits rolled and a patriotic theme music played. That was the news.

OOC: Concerning the State Department message.....I'll be conducting all diplomacy in private. I'll be making a post listing who I have embassies later on tomorrow (currently with nobody), but should you like one, just PM me or query me on IRC. But no, I won't be making a diplomacy thread or an embassy thread. Just a post in this thread with an embassy list is all that I'll do. If you want to do diplomacy, have an embassy, or sign a treaty, discuss it with me either via PM or on IRC.

As for foreign investing, if it is something like a housing project or a hotel, something not much, feel free to build it or just assume companies in your nation have. If it is something like a jail, research facility, military base, etc. Tell me if you want one there. I'll either approve you or deny you.

That's all I have to say about that. Thanks for reading.

OOC: You should still have an embassy with me, unless you left it behind when you migrated to the American Mainland.

Department of Communications, Washington, D.C., Rebel Virginia - The smiling haircut man from the night before took a seat next to the blonde women. A man in a military uniform, and also sporting a fine mustache, was positioned to the left of the smiling haircut man.

"Today we have a very special guest on our show." the smiling haircut man began. "General MacDoogle is here with us to tell us about the war, and also some of the nation's new initiatives. So general, about the war?"

"The war ended without a single shot fired." the general replied. "Upon being faced with the combined might of both Rebel Virginia and Triyunica, Shillia and Rebel Army realized the error of their judgment and groveled for peace. Triyunica was merciful enough to give them it."

"And the wall?" inquired the smiling haircut man.

"Ah, yes, the wall. Think of it as immigrant hell." the general said with a grin. "We will be putting up a chain-link fence with barbed wired around the entire border. Then for a mile from the fence we will bombard it with VX gas every once in awhile, killing anything that tries to pass, or at least making it very sick by the time it reaches the mine field. The mine field will span for two miles, and will include tank barriers and barbed wired."

"And when do we get to the wall?" inquired the smiling haircut man?

"As soon as the mine field ends the wall will begin." the general answered. "It will be a double wall. Five yards high. With turrets and anti-air flak, and machine guns!" He grew increasingly excited. "And in between the two wall, half a mile of more mines and barriers. It will be hell for anyone who tries to get into this country alive. It will kill everything."

"One more question about the wall." the smiling haircut man inquired. "What of the towns and cities located along the border where we will be building the wall?"

"We will be demolishing them and the citizens relocated." explained the general. "Except for Philadelphia of course. It is too important to abandon, and it is situated on our border with J Andres. As such, we will simply be constructing a simple wall around that city, with turrets and anti-air defenses of course. We will also be fortifying the west bank of the Delaware River to prevent an attack on Philadelphia from across the river. We assure you, however, that that is a very unlikely scenario."

"General, I lied. That wasn't the last question." smirk the smiling haircut man. "Several foreign pundits have criticized this project, calling it unnecessary and paranoid."

"Nonsense, utter nonsense." the general reassured him. "They do not understand our position like we do. We are bordered by barbarians to the north and to the south. In short, we are the only bastion of civilization on the eastern portion of this continent. With Tahoe, Viniland, and that German place being the only other three reasonable empires in North America."

"Yes, of course." agreed the smiling haircut man, with his haircut looking particularly nice at that angle. "Now, what of this second project you were going to tell me about?"

"Yes, of course. The Rebel Virginia Canal!" the general proclaimed as a diagram of the canal was put up on a screen. "As it is not Rebel Virginian policy to use seaways controlled by barbarians, to connect our Great Lakes ports with the rest of the world we will be building a canal to connect the Delaware and Susquehanna Rivers to Lake Eire, at Buffalo, New York to be precise. Work on both the canal and the wall began a few weeks ago. They are both expected to take a few years to complete, but we are making the completion of these projects high priority. That will be all I can tell you for now."

"Thank you General." replied the smiling haircut man. "It's been an honor to have you on tonight. For Channel 4 News, this is Ron Johnson. Have a nice night."

Washington, D.C., Rebel Virginia - The Pope was panicked after his recent verbal dispute with Martens and Ranathar. He had determined that he was now on a list of leaders to be terminated.

"Roderick, we need to get out here." the Pope said. "We're screwed. They're after us. I know it."

"Sir, aren't you being a little unreasonable?" Roderick replied.

"No. Get Scruffy on the line." the Pope demanded. "I need his advice."

Scruffy was possibly the most important janitor in the world. His clearance level was higher than some of the nation's generals.

"A bunker you say.....Appalachian mountain facility for now....of course." the Pope agreed. He hung up. "Roderick, get to the chopper. We're going to an undisclosed location. We'll be safe there. Also, call Naboo. We have much to discuss."

Finger Lakes, New York - The 6 mile section of the canal connecting Keuka Lake to Seneca Lake was completed a few days ago. Construction on the stretch of the canal to connect Lake Seneca to Lake Eire, a total of 33 miles, with the use of of a tunnel boring machine has now begun. Meanwhile in Pennsylvania, dredging of the northern course of the Susquehanna has been completed. That section of the river is now navigable for barges and naval vessels. Dredging has since commenced on the 30 mile course of the Chemung River, from Athens, PA to Corning, NY. Once the Chemung River is deemed navigable the final 20 mile section of the canal, connecting Corning, NY to Hammondsport, NY will be dug.

Rebel Virginia-J Andres Border, New York - The electric fence along the border had been finished. This would prevent any unfortunate J Andres citizens from accidentally wandering into Rebel Virginia. On the Rebel Virginian side of the fence three miles of dragon's teeth, barbed wire, Czech hedgehogs, and road block barriers were placed along the border. One mile into the border mine fields would accompany these obstacles. However, they were not to be laid until the first wall of the double wall had been completed. Along the border the wall started to sore. It was 9 feet thick currently standing at 9 feet tall, but it would eventually double that height. It only stood along half of the border, as construction had only begun in recent months. Sentry towers would be included in the walls and anti-aircraft flak would be stationed near it as well.

Washington, D.C., Rebel Virginia - Recent moves by the State Department has solidified Rebel Virginia's place on the world stage. The Theocratic Republic has, in the last two months, forged alliances with Triyunica, Palintine, Xi'an, Mogatopia, Wighton, Naboo, Lübeck, Tahoe, and Pravus Ingruo.

Seneca Lake, New York - A blast was set of just half a mile north of Seneca Lake. A tunnel boring machine was lowered into the cavity. It began to drill north towards Rochester. Work would continue night and day, as shifts continued throughout the day. Construction was endless.

Delmarva Peninsula, Rebel Virginia - The beach along the Delmarva was closed off. Workers had completed constructing fortifications along the Delmarva, which had begun three months prior. Czech hedgehogs were laid about the beach and as far as 100 feet off the cost, in a manner that would make it difficult for small landing craft to reach the beat. Mines and barbed wire were also laid along the beach. This alone would make an amphibious assault quite difficult, but the fortifications were not finished yet. Small ridges were constructed at the end of the mine fields, with a trench in front of the ridge. Barbed wire was put along the edge of the trench. Beyond the trench, and along the ridge, were artillery batteries and anti-aircraft flak. Pill boxes were also constructed along the lower slope of the artificial ridge, and were now a common sight along the beach. They were connected to the trenches for easy access. Several artillery and personal bunkers were constructed on top of the ridge as well. Like the pillboxes, they were also connected to the trenches. The first third of the Atlantic wall had been complete. Virginia Beach and the Outer Banks still needed to be fortified.

Lake Ontario and Lake Eire, New York - Defenses similar to those used on the Delmarva were being constructed along the shores of the lakes. Currently the ridges were completed and the mine fields and tank barriers were being laid. Along the Rebel Virginia-J Andres border the first wall had been built to full height along the northern half of the border, with the other half being at half height. Work on the second wall was started in the north.

Finger Lakes, New York - The tunnel boring machine had dug half of the canal route from Seneca Lake to Lake Eire. Meanwhile, to the south, the Chemung River had finished being dredged. Work on the canal connecting it Keuka Lake would have to wait until the rest of the canal had been finished, as Rebel Virginia only had once tunnel boring machine.

Our satellites and military observers report that your border defenses are well under way. We hope our designs were of use. Furthermore, we propose a series of wargames, which, due to our new treaty, will allow our militaries greater integration and compatibility. In the event of a North American conflict this could prove the difference between victory and defeat.

Your designs were of great use to us. Additionally, we would be happy to have war games with you. Considering that almost none of our soldiers have any battle experience, such an activity would be a great experience for them.

Washington, D.C., Rebel Virginia - The Pope's plane landed at Washington Dulles International Airport and he was quickly hurried to his non-disclosed location.

"Major, are all of Rebel Virginia's citizens armed? Do you have basic training?" inquired the Pope.

"Yes Your Holiness, and they are armed. And while they know how to shoot, tactics isn't a strong point of their's. However. A few good officers could probably lead them well enough." replied the major.

"And the Turtles?" asked the Pope.

"Our people been busy Your Holiness. We have about 275 of them on the Chesapeake Bay, and 100 off the Atlantic coast of the Delmarva. Another 50 of them on the Delaware Bay. And yet another 50 stationed along Pamlico Sound. We also have 25 stationed along each the Onslaw Bay and Long Bay shores, as well as off the Albemarle Sound. That's a total of 550 Turtles. We'll use them to make suicide runs at enemy vessels. If they get close enough to the shore we can navigate under there ships and sink them." explained the major.

"Excellent." said the Pope. "Find 550 of our most fanatical citizens. We'll need the best of the best to peddle these things to victory."

OOC: Turtle - It is packed with cordite. Very high tech. I will be sending several of these out to each ship to target the center middle of the ship and the rudder.

Tennessee Federation sees that Rebel Virginia's border system is... progressing nicely. Tennessee is actually happy to see a border because the border will also protect our citizens as well. Well... the smart ones that don't try going through No Man's Land. We did not realize that our neighbor to the east was so advanced. Our people seem to have their differences, but we pray that our nations shall move together in peace as we would hate to see war on American soil.

We agree with that statement.

We'd also like to note that this hardened border security will indeed help us especially with our little rebellion of the Sons of the Old Order in West Ohio. It seems they are related to a terrorist organization in J Andres. The security will help protect our nation from the likes of these terrorists.

We will be more than happy to help put down this organization if need be. We could have 2,500 and 25 tanks in the region within the next few days if you would accept our assistance.

OOC: Anyway, this may be derailing this thread, so let's move to another one. I'll start a thread for diplomacy between our countries.

There you go.

With the recent signing of the Bermuda Triangle Accords, the Federation of Pravus Ingruo has donated 15 Cobras and 5 Sea King helicopters to the Theocratic Republic of Rebel Virginia. We know that they will put them to good use.

The Republic mimics this donation but also throws in 5 Apaches.
