  1. You're quite vocal about expansionism and imperialism.
  2. *Pensacola* "Missiles launched!" a pilot near the rear of the 24 planes flying towards the Xaristanis. 12 planes broke for the ground, trying to hide in the ground clutter, dropping chaffa nd flares on the way down. The other 12 tried other maneuvers, jinking left and right, up and down, also dropping chaff and flares. Flying down the streets, 10 of them managed to evade the missiles tracking them. The other 2 were hit and crashed into the buildings on the ground. Of the other 12 planes, 6 managed to evade the msisiles after them. The remaining 16 aircraft turned to chase their attackers, firing off missiles at 20 aircraft. *ANS Biloxi* "Vampire, vampire, vampire! Missiles inbound! 96 Targest on radar." "Launch the SAMs, how many do we have on the ships?" "24 ESSMs, 210 on the VLSs. We loaded 3/4 SAMs into the VLSs and 1/4 cruise missiles. We also have 189 RAMs on board the ships. If we lose anyone, it's going to be Pinto Island and Mobile." "One SAM per missile. I don't want to waste these, we're not done with the ASMs yet. Anything that gets through is dealt with by the RAMs and the Phalanx." A few moments later, 96 RIM-156 missiles were launched out of the VLS systems on every ship but the corvette and the assault ship. The missiles raced towards the inbound anti-ship missiles, killing 68 of them. Then, the ESSMs from Pinto Island and Birmingham, targeting 24 of the 28 remaining missiles, killing 18. 10 missiles were still flying when the RAMs launched and the CIWS powered up and began tracking targets. 3 Missiles eventually made it through the multi-layered defense systems and found their targets, 2 striking Mississippi and 1 hit Pinto Island. The small corvette was no match for the missile, and quickly began flooding and sank within 30 minutes. On the other hand, the battleship's thick belt armor absorbed most of the impact of one missile, but the other hit the rear superstructure, causing extensive damage to the galley, mess room, and living quarters housed there. "How are our Intruders doing?" "They're searching for the attackers, they've turned back towards the mainland for the moment." "Are the cruise missiles ready?" "Yes, sir." "Fire them." 70 cruise missiles left the VLS systems on the 3 VLS equipped ships with cluster munitions. Their targets would be the southern airbases. The goal was for the bomblets to punch holes into the runways so that they couldn't be used until they were repaired, somthing that would take time, giving the ground forces some breathing room from the constant air attacks. *Jacksonville* Nearly the same things that happened over Pensacola happened over Jacksonville. Several dove for the ground, but the ground clutter over open terrain didn't provide the same shelter that it did in cities. Several on the back end of the attack maanged to fire off missiles at 10 Xaristani aircraft. Then they fired off chaff and flares and began evasive maneuvers. Of the 48 aircraft, some had as many as 4 missiles chasing after them. Others got lucky with one or even none with the confusion in the skies. 30 aircraft survive to turn around, acquire, and fire on 38 Xaristanis. On the ground, the situation was even worse. SAMs had been fired on 6 planes, but the cluster bombs had destroyed much of what remained of the troops meant to attack Jacksonville. Artillery was destroyed and many infntry carriers were also destroyed. *ANS Charleston* "Fire the cruise missiles." Like the ships on the other side of the Xaristan, cruise missiles were fired from the VLSs on the ships. This time 112 missiles also equiped with cluster munitions were aimed at other military bases around southern Xaristan. "Vampire, vampire, vampire. 120 missiles inbound." "Fire off the SAMs. Where did they come from?" "Air launched, sir. We also have high altitude radar contacts." "Take them out. Use whatever's necessary." 120 SM-2 missiles came out of their launchers and raced towards the incoming missiles. Another 12 went after the six bombers high over the fleet. 83 of the inbound missiles are destroyed in the first wave of missiles. The ESSMs destroy another 14. The RAMs and CIWS destroy another 17. Of the remaining 6, 2 flew through chaff. The last 4 found their targets, 2 on Roanoke Island, 1 on Portsmouth, and 1 on South Carolina. Both the corvette and frigate sank within an hour. Once again, the heavy armor plating on the battleship saved it from the missile. OOC: Total Losses: 15,000+ Dead, wounded, or MIA 150 Tanks 650 Other Vehicles 31 Aircraft 3 Ships
  3. OOC: Check my factbook, first post. They were all at bases in the Gulf of Mexico and in the Atlantic. I just sortied them together into two groups, one in the Gulf and one in the Atlantic. They're all traveling together as a group. TF 11 is in the Atlantic and TF 21 is in the Gulf. All the information on my Air Force and Navy can be found in my factbook.
  4. OOC: The Atlantic fleet is sitting just north of the sea border. That leaves Jacksonville just barely in range of the guns, so you probably couldn't sink them just yet, but they'll soon be moving south so you'll get your opportunity, or you could just sink them with missiles. IC: *Pensacola* "Enemy fighters coming in, we need fighter protection!" one of the Mirage pilots called out. "24 Hawk IIs are en route. 5 minutes." The Mirages continued to strafe at the ground troops on the roof, while trying to dodge enemy SAMs, AAA, and air-to-air missiles from the Xaristani aircraft. Their robust construction was invaluable, but was not enough to save 2 who were shot down by repeated AAA hits and a missile each. They both managed to get locks on other enemy fighters and both fired 2 missiles each at a target. The last two Mirages turned back towards the border as the two squadrons of interceptors arrived in the air over Pensacola. Each carried eight air-to-air missiles to counter the Xaristanis. Meanwhile, off the coast, the amphibious assault carrier ANS Birmingham began launching FV-28 intruders off her flight deck to counter the incoming attack aircraft. Ship launched SAMs were also prepared to be fired as soon as the attacking aircraft came within range. *Jacksonville* "Enemy aircraft overhead! We can't move and we're going to get killed unless someone pulls them off our backs!" "36 aircraft are inbound to your location. Hold them off as best you can until they arrive." The Hawk IIs that had ben flying CAP over the border immediately turned south to meet the northbound Xaristanis. FB-38 Vengeances were getting ready for a second bombing run on Jacksonville if the air north of the city could be cleared. SB-11 Ravens were also loaded with cluster munitions and smart bombs to target bases and industries farther from the border. A few anti-aircraft vehicles managed to get off the road into the fields intact and immediatley began targeting the low-flying aircraft with anti-aircraft rounds and the few SAMs they had. The Navy also launched 12 Intruders off the ANS Charlotte to assist the Air Force fighters. Each Intruder carried 6 air-to-air missiles. OOC: How many missiles are going to be launched on the two fleets? That way I can properly RP the damages and such. Also, how many aircraft are north of Jacksonville? I have 48 aircraft moving in on the area where the battle is going to occur.
  5. *Outskirts of Pensacola* The leading unites of the brigade assaulting Pensacola had just entered the city and most of the vehicles left I-10 for the northern branch of XR-90. From there, they spread out into the city, firing on any Xaristani combatants they saw. Anyone with a weapon was liable to be shot at by either a tank round or the vehicle mounted machine guns. Behind the leading elements, however, were lightly armored infantry carriers and artillery to support a tank battle. The 20mm rounds ripped through most of the vehicles and whoever wasn't already dead would soon be by way of the mines planted into the highway. Much of the artillery was lost and remained on the highways, not letting anything behind it pass. Engineering crews who had expected the road to be blocked at some point started working on an alternate route into Xaristan a few hundred feet away from the highway. They would try to open a clear route to the smaller country roads which were less likely to be mined and guarded. Of the initial 15,000 men that were tasked at taking the city, only 10,000 or so made it to the city, most in tanks and other tracked fighting vehicles. They were entirely without artillery or infantry support for the taking of the city. The engineering crews were expected to take at least a day or two to clear the 2,000 feet between the I-10 bridge and the nearest minor road. The tanks slowly made their way across the city from west to east, or tried to. Troops with anti-tank weapons were all over the city a losses quickly piled up, though the urban setting helped and hurt both sides just about equally. The rubble that began to pile up offered shelter to both tanks and men. Like the old saying went, nature doesn't discriminate, and neither did the buildings. In the first few hours, nearly 100 of the 200 tanks in the leading elements of the assault were destroyed. "I need air support, the tanks are getting murdered by the antitank infantry. I need at least four Mirages down here to take care of the poeple on the roofs," the general in command shouted into his radio. "Air supports on its way. A whole squadron got moved from Columbus to Brookley just a few days ago. Expect it in one-zero minutes." Minutes later, four CS-23 Mirages came from the west and began firing on known enemy positions, directed by men on the ground. They carried unguided rockets, HARM missiles, and air-to-air missiles for defense. They flew low over the city using the 76 unguided CRV7 rockets and the 30mm Gatling Gun to target ground targets. The battleship Mississippi also fired on Pensacola from Ardorian waters with her 12 16in guns firing rocket assisted and guided shells. The shells were high explosives and designed to take out men on top of buildings and on the ground while keeping the tanks alive. *North of Jacksonville* Things weren't much better on the east coast either. Some of the group turned west to follow a railroad while most continued down XR-17. When the defense systems came back on line, many were lost immediately. Those who were able to get off the road were faced with trying to drive through pockets of dense forest. Aircraft were called in to try to clear routes through the forrests. Until that could be done, the assault on Jacksonville wouldn't happen. At the same time, while still staying out of Xaristani waters, the 24 16in guns on the battleships Georgia and South Carolina began shelling Jacksonville at a range of about 25 miles. Unguided high explosive and incendiery shells as well as rocket assisted and guided shells that had been tested in Bermuda a few years ago were used to soften up the ground forces. OOC: Casualties: 10,000 dead, wounded, or MIA 100 tanks 300 other vehicles 3 aircraft 0 ships
  6. *Over Jacksonville* "Targets are in sight, weapons armed." "Top Hat Leader, all components, check six." The flight leader got acknowledgements and proceeded to their targets, the military garrisons in Jacksonville and any SAM sites that lit up would promptly be dealt with with HARM missiles each FB-38 carried. "Leader, Two, SAM launch, repeat, SAM launch. Break left. Launching HARM." But it was too late. By the time the flight leader was able to get the plane to turn, the missile was less than a thousand feet behind him, to close to do much of anything. Meanwhile, the HARM missile locked onto the emissions from the SAM site outside of Jacksonville that had fired and bore in on it. "Top Hat flight, this is Two, commence attack, commence attack." Each of the three remaining fighter bombers dropped two 2,000 pound JDAM guided bombs. Two were aimed at the military base and three headed for the airport. The final missile failed to arm properly and dropped into the city and failed to detonate. The other flights had similar stories. The Lake City strike had the best success, it neutralized a small group of troops at the intersection and took out several SAM and AAA sites. There were 3 FB-38s lost, two over Pensacola and one over Jacksonville. They would probably end up being the first prisoners of war in Ardorian history. *I-95, north of Jacksonville* The 10,000 troops assigned to cross at the I-95 border crossing took a detour just south of the border. Instead of continuing down the wide interstate highway, they turned off to take Xaristan Route 17 (OOC: I'll refer to all Florida state highways and US highways as XR). It was a gamble, since the state highway was much narrower and it created a larger flank, but anyone with half a brain would know that the interstate was the easiest route south, and thus, put their strongest defense forces there. The general in command of the brigade hoped to catch the defenders by surprise by appearing behind them. *I-10, east of Pensacola* The drive into Pensacola was even shorter than the drive to Jacksonville. The city was a mere 5 miles from the border. 10,000 men and thier tanks, APCs, and fighting vehicles crossed via I-10. A smaller force of 5,000 men crossed a few miles south at AR/XR-90. OOC: This is basicall a set up post. I need to know how long it took for you to start up the defense systems, since 5 minutes (quite literally) is all that's needed to get from the border to Pensacola.
  7. OOC: I've decided that since I'm going to be leaving CN in 12 days (when my nation will be automatically deleted), I might as well go out with a bang. To my allies, I would like for this to remain between myself and Xaristan, none of my treaties require mutual aggression (and I'd like to have this war over when the 12 days are up). To Pravus Ingruo, I had a great time RPing with you, but you're the only one I can fight a reasonably balanced war against, so... IC: ***Classified*** "Are all of the pieces in position?" "Yes, everything is in position. The Navy has brought the ships back from the exercise in Bermuda. Air Force is ready to begin missions in half an hour, and all of the Army units are in positions." "Alright, commence Operation Hurricane Go to DefCon 1." ***A Short and Very Much to the Point Announcement from the Ardorian Foreign Ministry*** Effective immediately, the United Republic of Ardoria is in a state of war with Xaristan. <<<END>>> ***War/Battle*** (OOC: Nobody besides Xaristan will be able to respond to stuff marked with these tags unless they are involved in the war or have a plausible and common sense way of detecting the movements and PLEASE LIMIT OOC ONLY TO RELAVENT INFORMATION. Goodbyes are alright as long as they do not derail the thread.) A little less than a minute after the announcement was made, 60,000 troops crossed the border into Xaristan in their APCs and tanks along I-95, I-75, I-10, as well as smaller highways like Ardorian Route (AR)-29, AR-331, AR-27, AR-319, AR-19, and AR-221. Thier first task was to capture the Xaristani border stations just beyond the walls of the Ardorian border defense system. The Air Force launched 3 squadrons of FB-38 Vengeance strike fighters to target (OOC: PI, i need you to supply me with the names your using) Jacksonville, Pensacola, and Lake City (which controlled the interchange between I-10 and I-75). Behind the border, FM-35 Hawk IIs took off to fly Combat Air Patrol to defend against retaliatory air strikes. The Navy's amphibious assault carriers Birmingham and Charlotte sortied into to Task Forces, one on each side of Xaristan. The AACs embarked FV-28 Intruders for Sea Control duties and took positions off of Pensacola and Jacksonville to support the infantry advancements. OOC: I have one request that I'd like to see respected. It is that I am allowed to use the stats that I saved from my IG high water mark from just before the Karma War (they are here. I estimate 200,000 troops and whatever is in my factbook for this RP). While I know this will be controvertial, if all of the parties (right now, Xaristan) agree, I would like to be able to do this. This is why I ask that my allies stay out (and part of the reason why I chose Xaristan: no treaties). However, if that's not possible, I would at least like to be able to have tanks and aircraft (I am currently under surrender terms from Karma) as I will be departing CN (and as a result, CNRP) after this is over. I will do my best to lose but still put up a good fight. Thanks to all who I've RPed with here and though I don't plan on returning, the possibility remains. May the fireworks begin. EDIT: I may disappear without notice, my computer and internet are unreliable right now. If my nation gets deleted, I will no longer visit this board and my land returns to being white on the map.
  8. OOC: Sorry for being absent, my computer decided to quit on me. I will have a response within an hour. Here: http://forums.cybernations.net/index.php?showtopic=66390
  9. ***Classified*** EMP-proofing at all military and key government facilities has been completed. Major electrical infrastructure and important utilities are currnetly in the process of being hardened against EMPs. Total progress is estimated at 83%. ***Classified*** The Tennessee and New England Border Defenses have been completed. Weapons installation is complete. Seawall and coastal defense structures are 68% complete.
  10. Please take me off the lock list. Just realised I was still on it.
  11. Newport News and Hampton are in the same place. They're right next to each other and part of the Hampton Roads.
  12. Mississippi; Alabama; Georgia; South Carolina; North Carolina; a sliver of Virginia south of the Norfolk; Hampton, Virginia; and Fisherman's Island, Virginia EDIT: I'll post a map in a few hours.
  13. To be honest, most of us here in Ardoria find this situation to be...amusing, to say the least. While Tahoe may have a legitimate claim over Hagemeister Island, as Procintia is commonly defined as owning the Aleutians, the deployment of a vast number of troops (which outnumber the entire population of Procintia) and running constant air patrols against a nation that has nothing even close to what amounts to a real air force is rather absurd. To do this against a nation which scarcely has a military at all is downright stupid. -President Nathan Briar
  14. OOC: The Census Repository (or whatever it's called, I haven't played SC4 in a looooong time) ruins the picture.
  15. I think this idea makes sense and I would support it. It's more realistic and provides more RP opportunities.
  16. OOC: Just FYI, I militarized Bermuda a long time ago and set up a 10nm no-man's land around it. Just pointing out how unlikely it is. However, if it's non-canon as I'm assuming it is, then I'll just play along. IC: The Ardorian Navy's Naval Base in Castle Harbor has been locked down and the Air Force is running Combat Air Patrols around the island. No foreign vessels or aircraft are permitted within 10 nautical miles of Castle Harbor. This will be enforced by any means necessary. The Ardorian Navy is moving an amphibious assault carrier with a battleship, cruiser, and frigate as escorts to Bermuda. We will give all vessels 2 hours to depart the Bermuda Exclusion Zone (OOC: Which means the ships must be out of the Exclusion Zone by the next post you make). Violators who insist on remaining within the Exclusion Zone will be fired upon. As for the United Netherlands' actions, they have no right to be anywhere near Bermuda and doing so is a violation of Ardorian sovereignty. ***Classified*** The Ardorian military has moved to DefCon 2. 10,000 troops and their equipment are being shipped with the naval task force. They will land in Castle Harbor and assist troops already at the Bermuda Naval Base in retaking the island.
  17. OOC: Is this CNRP canon? I still own Bermuda since RV left after the PI-RV War.
  18. OOC: As far as I can tell, I don't think I ever signed a treaty with New England. We came close but never got to an actual treaty at the last RP meeting we had (the one about the SOSUSs), IC: Before thise little debate continues any further, we would like to know who this treaty partner of New England is. So far, it appears that only ourselves and the Xaristanis have criticized the move, neither of which hold a treaty with New England.
  19. One of the few times I will agree ICly with Pravus.
  20. While such times are few and far between, this is a case where we must agree with the Xaristanis. New England has sytematically expanded through the Mid-Atlantic ever since control of the now non-existant protectorate was transfered to them, starting with their annexation of Pennsylvania, Delaware, and the collapsed New Jersey. Their apparent constant need to prove to others that they have a rather large ego to satisfy is worrying at best and at worst, threatening, to the stability of North America and the safety of the people who reside on it. Perhaps the best news (or worst, depending on your point of view) is that they've gobbled up whatever they can without violating someone's sovereignty, although if your the least bit pessimistic or cynical, such a situation would be of grave concern.
  21. It's Ardoria, 2 "R"s. Anyway, yes, I do build A-10s (I've relabeled/named it the CS-23 Mirage).
  22. OOC: Not my fault I'm your only neighbor, lol. Of course, you could always go by air or by sea to wherever you want, since I don't control the water around you. As for closing the roads, depending on your point of view, it the argument over whether it's an act of war or not could go either way. However, judging from the fact that GF is up to something, they'll throw out any argument about security and such and will go on doing whatever the hell they want anyway, lol. IC: "What actions will the government of Xaristan be taking to prevent further acts such as the one we experienced today? It seems that there's been a failure on the part of the government to prevent something such as this from happening, especially since two other attacks have occured just a month ago."
  23. OOC: SMH, you seem to forget that I hold the only land border with you, which means nobody can get in or out by land regardless of what you do. IC: *At the News Conference* A TBS reporter who was already in Xaristan covering the previous attacks and served as the Xaristani correspondant asked the following: "Is there any indication that these attacks, some directed at you personally, are related to the previous Xaristani attacks and the attaks against Ardoria?"
