Aggressivenutmeg
LA REPUBBLICA Proposed design for a ƒ1 coin, featuring Libertas Bologna - Today was the first day in the long process of rolling out Cisalpinas new currency - the Cisalpine Florin, with the currency symbol ƒ. The florin, will exist in physical form as silver coins (ƒ1, ƒ2, and ƒ5) and as banknotes (ƒ10, ƒ20, ƒ50, and ƒ100). The Florin is subdivided into 100 soldi (symbol: Տ). The florin is to be a silver standard currency, with one florin pegged to the value of 1/4 troy ozt. of silver. Even before the rollout began many questions were raised as to where the government acquired enough silver for the creations of a silver based currency. Government officials refuse to comment on the matter, however, reports have surfaced saying that the silver comes from the irradiated households of Milan, Turin and Genoa. Refugees say that government soldiers were seen looting the homes still standing in the suburbs taking any and all precious metals that could find, including gold and silver, jewelry, ornaments and even silverware. Health experts say they are alarmed by the possibility of the government issuing irradiated silver coinage and express concern that - should the allegations be true - it would cause serious medical problems in the Cisalpine community. Markus Wilding
In addition to civilians, Cisalpina troops would be met by Alvonian Wehrmacht personnel, who sent this announcement to the Republic shortly after first contact: The Wehrmacht is currently in operations to secure the French portions of Snow Haven for their handover to France. We kindly request the Republic withdraw and allow us to return the areas to France.
Mogar
OOC: French parts of Snow Haven go back to France, the Italian and Swiss parts were never discussed so they're up for grabs. IC: "The Imperium is pleased to see Europe taking care of their neighbors, and now allowing the former nation of Snow Haven to fall into chaos, we would like to see the French sections of Snow Haven returned to France, as Italy does not hold much of a cultural or historical reason for possessing those lands." Aggressivenutmeg
"We regret to inform you that we official declared the regions that were once Snowhaven were declared a protectorate of the Cisalpine Republic a few days ago. Due to this we consider Alvonia troops to be in violation of Cisalpine sovereignty and we request that your forces withdraw and hand over any military bases established to Cisalpine troops." - Achille Oberti, Secretary-General of the Directorate OOC: agreements between players don't matter, they need IC enforcement. Markus Wilding
The Wehrmacht also began operations to transfer these lands to French control, almost at the same time as the Republic did. We will not allow our French ally's land to be stolen by the Italian state. The Wehrmacht will not withdraw and will continue securing all French lands to return them to the French nation. Mogar
"France has been withdrawn lately while they focus internally, and it is easy to miss your quiet neutral neighbor, especially when there is no provocative or aggressive actions being launched from the area into France. Markus Wilding
The Cisalpina Republic has no authority to divide these French regions and take them for itself. France and Italy came to an agreement to hand over this land to Snow Haven, an agreement that gave up French possessions to the new state. While France has been internally reorganizing, this is not a reason for the Republic to blatantly take these lands and strip them from the French homeland. No, as France's ally, we will put an end to the Republic's half-hearted attempts to annex lands it does not belong in.
Aggressivenutmeg
"We will not withdraw, for these lands are not French, they were Snowhavenish, and now they are Alpine." [Classified] With increased fear that Alvonia’s sabre rattling will lead to conflict, preparations for an adequate defence of the Italian peninsula were drafted by the military brass. For Cisalpina to survive, any conflict with Alvonia would have to take place in Helvetica, and to ensure that, Cisalpina would have to take the initiative. The brass however, had no idea where the Alvonian troops where. There was an easy way to remedy this, Eurofighter Typhoons, AMX-11s, and light planes would begin flying patrols over Switzerland, their mission would be to locate and map the positions of Alvonian troops. Evangeline Anovilis
"Greater Romania sees these developments in the Swiss Alps as a very worrying development and hopes that a peacefully solution can be found. We offer our services as an arbiter to this dispute and invite both Alvonia and the Cisalpine Republic to Bucharest for a settlement, though Romania insists on both a peaceful settlement, as well as the non-interferrence of non-European and non-Mediterranean nations in European affairs." -Maria I de România Classified The carrier battle group around the Romanian carrier Dacia in the Strait of Otranto would be kept on alert, as would be Romanian troops in western Hungary. Hereno
We applaud the efforts of the Cisalpine Republic in taking initiative after the fall of the old regime. Saxony recognizes that France has a valid claim to certain regions, but they have turned their backs on the crisis. It is therefore our position that a peaceful, multilateral stewardship of the land in question should restore order. Aggressivenutmeg
Official Statement from the Senate of the Cisalpine Republic The government of the nation of Snowhaven has collapsed. Due to the nature of the nature of the humanitarian emergency unfolding the region Cislapine troops are currently moving across the border to restore law and order and distribute the necessary supplies that are lacking in the region. To ensure that the region is capable of recovering from total government collapse, the Cisalpine Republic is hereby declaring the former nation of Snowhaven a Protectorate of the Republic. [Classified] Italian troops began moving across the border into the former nation of Snowhaven in the early hours of the morning. The troops crossed the border in four places (via the coastal road to Monaco and Nice, through the Saint Bernard Tunnel into Valais, through the Mont Blanc Tunnel into Savoy, and in foothill areas of Ticino), immediately establishing positions in the towns across the border. Within the hour more troops were streaming across the border and moving deeper into Switzerland and Provence.

Aggressivenutmeg
LA REPUBBLICA Troops on Policing duties in Nice Nice - Cisalpine troops occupying Monaco, Nice, Cannes, and the surrounding areas have quickly restored order to the cities and begun the long process of normalizing the situation for the local population. The pacification of Nice and the Alps-Maritimes department at large has been a relatively smooth process. Over ten thousand troops are involved in the occupation and reconstruction of Gallia Transalpina as the Directory has dubbed the region. A spokesman from the Directory told La Repubblica that the operation to ensure the safety of the region would "involve a great number of troops" and that we can expect the operation to "last for some time." One thousand Cisalpine troops are currently occupying Nice, with a further two thousand spread out between Nice and Cannes, ensuring the security of the densely populated coastline. The vast majority of the forces are involved in the repair of important infrastructure such as water and electricity supplies. One soldier told us that the cities water pipelines were in "a sever state of disrepair" that has caused the unavailability of running water in many neighborhoods. To counter the shortages of water and electricity, the Cisalpine army has been busy establishing supply posts to distribute water and food supplies, as well as kerosene lamps. Unfortunately the process of restoring order has not gone as smoothly as the Italian commanders had hoped. Since the arrival of combat troops, a total of five Niçard citizens have been shot and killed by soldiers while trying to escape, after instances of looting or arson. The instances have prompted the newly formed Niçard Citizens Council to demand a thorough investigation into the deaths. The Directory has promised that there will be an investigation into the matter in due course. OOC: Alpes-Maritimes 1/
Aggressivenutmeg
[Classified] The military has begun preparing themselves for permanent occupation of Transalpine Gaul. One near Contes in the mountains above Nice and Monaco, one at Les Saisies in Savoy and one near Guillestre in the Alps-Haute department. The two bases further north would be small, each only harboring a battalion of mountain infantry and their support units, with an artillery unit also stationed in Savoy. The base at Contes would be far more extensive hosting two motorised infantry battalions, an artillery battalion, and a host of other support forces. It would serve as the command centre for the forces on the far side of the alps. To better enhance the detection and defence capabilities of the Cisalpine Air Force, a squadron of fighters would be based in a yet-to-be-built airbase in the hills above Cannes. A programme to construct over the horison radar stations along the far slop of the alps is set to be drafted and implemented within the coming months. This system to radars will ring Cisalpina and extend from the Mediterranean coast to the Alvonian border. The scene in Helvetica would be quite different. Having taken over the positions erected by Saxon troops, Cisalpine forces would set about enforcing law and order in the region and distributing supplies where needed. In Ticino and the Italian and Lombard speaking areas of Grisons, the military and officials of the Cisalpine state would play a much greater role in community affairs, and ensure that everything was going as smoothly as possible. On one hand this was due to the language barrier faced by the soldiers in the German and Francophone regions, and on the other it was to lay the groundwork for the inevitable offer of annexation to be given to the Italian regions of Helvetica. Aggressivenutmeg
[Classified] With the announcement that French forces would be moving into Gallia Tranalpina and the western parts of Helvetica, the Cisalpine army would mobilize in response. Eurofighters and AWACS would begin regular air patrols, while AMX attack aircraft would remain on standby ready to provide air support to the mountain infantry battalions currently stationed in Savoy and Rhone-Alpes, and the mechanised infantry in Cannes. On the other side of the alps, Cisalpine forces would begin mobilizing and occupying the various mountain passes that led over the Alps into France, as well as the passes from South Tyrol in case Alvonia became involved in the dispute. Similarly, in Helvetica, the mountain infantry would largely retreat from the northern lowlands and occupy the mountain areas, digging in along with artillery and mechanised battalions. The under alps tunnels that lead into Italy proper would all be rigged with explosives, ready to collapse them if it became necessary.
