Chicago Noise
(OOC: It looks as though this is the more popular one so I figured I would open a nation in CNRP2 as well) Official Declaration of Existence for the Republic of Iceland Reykjavik, Iceland: Among the cold, dark waves of the North Atlantic, a new republic was forged, the free and sovereign Republic of Iceland. After a period of relative disorganization and general political apathy, the citizenry has come together, partnering with citizen councils to form a provisional government to handle the transition to nationhood. Self determination and desire for national community spurred the formation of the Icelandic Provisional Government (IPG), and continued support from the citizenry will further strengthen the developing federal government. The IPG's first goals will be the establishment of a national constitution outlining the various laws of the land as well as the structure of government as well as hosting free elections for seats and positions in said government. This announcement came with the unveiling of the flag of the new republic, a symbol of the island and universally recognized as representative of the Icelandic people specifically, and as a whole. To close the announcement of the Republic, one of the leaders of the Icelandic Provisional Government made an announcement to the international community: "The Republic of Iceland wishes to make known its sovereignty over the island of Iceland as one nation and independent. We are a people who desire peace and neutrality, and hope to establish warm diplomatic relations with our neighbors in Scandinavia, Europe, the North Atlantic, and the world at large. We hope to exchange with the nations of the world in peace and friendship, hopefully to the production of mutually beneficial relationships for our governments and our citizens.
