  1. Treasure Island. Who wouldn't want to find an island with buried gold? This story starts in 1700 with a girl named Kiyoko, born on the island of Dejima, Nagasaki, Japan. Born the daughter of a servant woman and an employee of the Dutch East India Company, Kiyoko was not given a very enjoyable life until 1712, when her family moved to Amsterdam with her father, though he did not acknowledge her as his daughter he maintained her mother as a Servant as a sort of atonement to ensure Kiyoko was not living in what he saw as the complete poverty of the Asians in comparison to his refined European taste. Her mother, Yoshiko died soon after they reached Amsterdam, and Kiyoko took it poorly, culminating in her eventually burning down her Father's Manor and escaping to England. Now being a young exotic girl in England all alone was not the wisest of ideas, but she had enough money taken from her father that she would manage for a few days until she had thought of the next step in this rather rash plan she had come up with. The first Inn she had reached that she felt seemed inactive enough that she would be left alone was the The Quiet Horse's Inn. A run down looking place, the furniture was nothing like she was used to in her father Manor and far closer to what she had remembered in Dejima. So much for refined european tastes, she thought to herself. Kiyoko paid the Innkeeper, an old Irish woman, for the next week and asked for her meals to be brought to her. The next several days were spent reading, she had learned how to read both Dutch and English at an early age due to her father's business, and soon learned that the so called "New World" the Europeans had found were said to be lawless, the Caribbean no longer a place for unhindered travel. Piracy had existed in Japan as well, it was common knowledge on Dejima who needed to be bribed to ensure safe passage, and with the Dutch East India Company as the monopoly of the island, they quickly made friends with those who did the pirating, turning a blind eye to their actions in exchange for their selection of targets focusing on the other East India Companies, providing the Dutch goods to be delivered cheapest and safest to Europe. Rob Selby, a poor sailor and occasional pirate, had checked in a few days later. The two finally met downstairs around the fireplace just before dinner time, the crackling of the fire the only sound other than their voices in the tavern. The exotic woman had inspired many questions for him, and for her, an attraction to the freedom and anonymity the seas provided. The two talked for hours and as the liquor flowed and with careful topic selection on Kiyoko's part, Rob came up with the idea the two should run off together to the new world and have a new start. Of course they would need money for this, she had a reasonable amount saved up, but Rob was wise enough to have her get a taste of the pirate life before trusting his future with the beautiful but mysterious stranger.

  3. Established: 1932 (Fall of Spanish Republic) Government: Single party fascist totalitarian dictatorship (Contras) Head of State: Carlos Mendoza (Head of state, Prime Minister of Spain, Emperor of the Second Empire) Currency: Pesetas Population: 42.7 million, 28.4 million in Spanish Sahara, 3.4 million in Spanish Guiana (note undocumented locals not accounted for.) Unemployment: 8.6% Civil Liberties: The average Spanish citizen is free to live their lives however they wish, but it is considered wise not to speak against the Imperial regime. Many are forced to regular raids in the more isolated regions of the mainland for possible Republican supporters. Non-Spanish citizens, primarily in the colonies, are often oppressed and treated as second class citizens. In its early years under the Mendoza regime, Spanish Sahara rebelled for its independence, it resulted in a very lop sided short war that saw native Africans massacred. Economy: Everything within the Empire is under state control, businesses must pay heavy taxes and must get approval from the state to trade with foreign companies. Jobs are rare but anyone can join the military which proves to be one of the few well paying jobs left in the Empire. Secondary education is funded by the state and anyone can enroll into one of the major universities and pursue a degree in whatever field they want in but jobs aren't guaranteed. Imperial Army: The Imperial Army is the largest branch of the Spanish Armed forces, it was formed shortly after the Republic fell. Over 1,400,000 members strong it is one of the largest armed forces in Europe. Infantry are often trained over a minimum of two weeks and shock troops undergo intense training in Spanish Guiana. Primary firearms: Kar 98k(doubles as Spain's sniper rifle) MP-18, MP-35, MG-34(mounted mg), Beretta Model 38. Secondary firearms: Smith and Wesson Model 101 revolver, Beretta M1935 Other: Model 24 grenade Spanish soldier conducting field training, most of the Imperial army's equipment is German, how it got there is speculated that war profiteers sold both sides excessive munitions left over from World War 1. African Corps: Formed after the Sahara uprisings, the African Corps is a special tactical force that operates in the African colonies. 400,000 in member strength they're often engaged in continuous patrols and police actions against the local population as well as provide defense for the Spanish colonies. They're armed with the Beretta Model 38 a submachine gun that gives them an extreme edge over the local population. Armored Corps: Medium Tanks: Panzer II, S35 SOMUA. Light Tanks: Mark VIII, Fiat M13/40 Imperial Air Force: The Air Force is held in high regard in the Spanish Empire, fighter pilots must pass entrance exams conduct and pass a flight test and are expected to do repairs to their fighter craft. Imperial pilots are held in high regard within Imperial Spain. Fighter Craft: BF-109, Fiat G.50,Brewster Buffalo(Spanish Naval aircraft), Yokosuka B4Y, Bristol Bulldog (used for training and reserves) Bomber craft: Savoia-SM.81s, Piaggio P.108 Imperial Navy: Unlike the rest of the armed forces the Spanish navy has suffered and fallen behind, most of the fleet has been reserved to protecting trade lanes between the mainland and the colonies. Though outdated the Imperial Navy is still formidable in combat and capable of causing sufficient damage. ISS Flagship DeSoto patrolling the coast of Gibraltar
  4. Cloe looked out the window of what might as well have been her cell and schemed quietly. She'd been used so viciously over the last pair of years that it didn't even phase her anymore, but there was no question that escape was still heavily on her mind. Even moreso than usual if anything. Her mind had become strong from the long years of torture, her master had forced her to submit, broken her mind, made her his pet, kept her beautiful just for his use, but she had built herself back up gradually, in secret. Yes, escape was practically all she thought about. Some nights she would slip the loose bar out the window and squeeze through to walk along the little ledge just beneath, looking for some way to tell people about her suffering, to find some rescue, to escape. She had several options she knew of, though none of them were sure things in any way. Tonight would be different though. [hr] She was standing on the little ledge, knowing she couldn't leave the grounds without being caught and punished viciously, having already tried that once. There was a shortwave radio in one of these rooms, she would just have to find it and it would be game over. She had no idea how to use a radio like that but she had to try, there had to be someone listening somewhere that she could transmit to. There had to be something. She edged along the ledge carefully, the thing only being an inch or two wide, her heels the only things that were on it. She nearly fell, catching her breath after the slip of her foot. The fall from here might - might - not be fatal, but she was sure that she wouldn't be walking away at very least if she fell off of here. She moved more carefully, opening the window to the little room from the outside. and moving in to do her business. [hr] A transmission over Shortwave
  5. Doge Mariano pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration. Several of the Patrician families, all the way up to Lord Mayor Oberto himself, had filed complaints over trade vessels being captured or destroyed. They had secured several contracts to deliver supplies to some Crusaders for a bunch of over ambitious young rulers and their attempt to seize a region of North Africa. Al-Andalus apparently did not approve of the attempts to resupply their enemies and targeted vessels that followed their orders to ā€œdeliver at all costs.ā€ Now Lord Mayor Oberto wanted Mariano to wage war with Al-Andalus over the ordeal, which was to be expected from the hot headed man. However, the campaign in Mallorca consumed too many resources for the time being, not that Mariano even wanted to fight a war over some ships lost in a high risk deal. Instead, another option would be pursued, one that wouldn't please Oberto but could tie up another loose end. Mariano dipped his quill in ink and took it to the parchment before him. Doge Mariano reviewed his written statement, and when content it contained all it needed, called for the newly appointed envoy to Al-Andalus, Galeotto di Cagliari, to take it to the ship which waited to take him to the Tangiers.
  6. Antasija and Mogar stepped through the gate as normal, on the other side though, he was alone. He looked around for a few moments, he was in the middle of a dark forest, so the where would be difficult, Strike one. A flick of his wrist informed him there was no satellites above, so the time period was anywhere from the early 1950s to... pretty much 4,000,000,000 BC, so strike two. The sky however could afford him some information, while not an expert he knew enough about the stars and their proper positions to quickly deduce that he was in the Northern Hemisphere. The exact time was impossible without a more in depth investigation, but he estimated perhaps the 1500s, having once visited Europe in 1493, the stars appeared as he recalled, and he was on roughly the same latitude as Rome. It took him several minutes to decide what to do, even calling out "Antasija!", several times. No such luck, for once she had even gone first, but she had always appeared next to him within seconds when he had gone first, what could have possibly gone wrong? Their intended destination, Rapture, 20XX, just before her disappearance, apparently did not sit well with fate. More interesting to him was rather than ending up in the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, he instead was in Europe. Mogar picked up his bag, sliding it onto his shoulders and set out through the woods, he could use a flashlight, but that'd raise more questions than he really needed to deal with at the moment, finding out where exactly he was would be the first step to solving this mystery. It took over an hour but he eventually came to a dirt road, it appeared to be decently traveled and he decided to head north, civilization had to exist somewhere.
  7. Aristaeus was quite surprised with the warm welcome his hosts had offered. As a senior politician who had built a name for diplomacy in the Ekklesia he was considered the best candidate to negotiate with the Federation however he had entirely expected it to be a one-way trip for himself and his entire delegation. That being said, once they had settled in at their temporary location Aristaeus would make his way to the Doge. With him would be various aides who brought with them chests of gifts the League had decided to gift to the Federation to make talking easier.

  9. Much like the USNA and UCS the Federation of the Atlantic was another power that had strong ties to the United Kingdom historically, while not much had been attempted in recent history it was the determination of the Foreign Office that it was time for an outreach. As such a message would be sent to the Federation government.

Kazuko was quite flustered, it was early afternoon in Tokyo, she was outside of the Tokyo Imperium Palace. it was almost like central park, in the sense it was an untouched patch of forest in the middle of skyscrapers, though Tokyo was another world compared to New York. Even as she walked alone she could hear the quiet hum of the drones watching her every move, and anything else within a few miles of the palace. and though she couldn't see them, she could sense the dozens of bodyguards that stood throughout the grounds, not even considering the hundreds on the premises. She sighed, sitting upon a bench, it was a strange feeling to be alone and yet surrounded by people at the same time. The stresses of a half billion people under your command, and with a single misspoken sentence in public she could sentence every one of them to a very tragic death. She sighed and looked at one of the many cats that lived on the castle grounds, the security didn't like them, something about CIA spy cats or something, Kazuko was Japanese and that was an unreasonable idea even to her. "Maybe you got it right Misutā neko, I should just go sit on a beach and watch the world for a while, I have a million kilometers of beach in my country and yet I'm stuck here in the middle of the city..." she said to the cat, not that she expected a reply, but at least the cats were honest about not caring about her, it was a better feeling than the feigned love she received from the servants. Worse yet, none of them were confidantes, she couldn't complain about her stresses like someone else her age could to their friends, there was no monarch sorority, inviting over another leader mean formalities and proper code of conduct, heaven forbid they just drop the act and stuff their faces with ice cream while watching movies for an evening. As she roamed the grounds it felt nice to not remember she was surrounded by skyscrapers, but in the back of her mind she knew she wasn't really on an adventure, she wasn't exploring some uncharted territory, she was in the middle of one of the largest cities in the world, and everyone within 3,000 kilometers of this spot was under her rule. She laid upon the grass, bemused by the fact there was probably a handmaiden somewhere watching her bask in the sunlight silently screaming at her because of the extra work that would come from the grass stains. let them have to put forth the extra effort. Kazuko thought to herself, "I'm worth it aren't I?" though the egotistical thought was quickly replaced with a voice whispering, "you're not." she simply shook the voice away, her doubts had been eating at her ever since the war, but she wasn't going to let them ruin her relaxing in the warm breeze. With her eyes closed, she could almost ignore the constant droning of the camera units, mentally filtering the noise out with the sound of the birds. "Your Majesty?" a young girl's voice shouted. A hand maiden, on the other hand, could ruin her relaxing. "There you are your majesty." she said when she finally found her, bowing deeply. "What is it, can I not have time to myself?" the girl would bow even deeper, "I apologize your majesty, but..." Kazuko sighed, "I don't even want to hear your explanation." Kazuko muttered, sitting up, "Take me to where ever it is I am needed..." she'd give the garden one last look over her shoulder as she walked away. whispering quietly to herself, "An adventure is just what I need."
  11. With the situation of the world as it was the renewed British state had a real use for allies beyond Europe. Before relations between Novak and Britain had become pretty close however a treaty had never been signed. The recent act by Novak to protect an area Britain generally considered to be part of its Commonwealth was only further evidence that Novak had positive intentions. In line with this a diplomat would deliver a message to Admiral Kochavi.
  12. Mogar was unsure of how much of Antasija's skill had remained within the new shell she had received. There had been no word from Rapture for months now, and Mogar had a responsibility to those who had chosen to move from The Cape to the undersea Gotham. There was a particular dōjō he had been frequenting as of late, having the requirement to maintain his own abilities and being too lazy to find an apartment with a room large enough for the equipment. Of course, this came at a cost, but most of those in East Asia tended to look the other way so long as there was a financial transfer, even with those who had... unique abilities as he did, so long as he paid for any potential damages the owner did not really care what happened so long as Mogar didn't bring the building down. The owner, an old man, was standing upon the patio outside, listening to the rain, It was 4am when Mogar and Antasija finally showed up, the idea coming to Mogar after an evening celebrating Antasija's return, it had been a few days so she had been much easier on the alcohol intake than him, it was going to be an interesting night.
  13. Carthage had for a long time been looking at the Baltic for a potential new friend but to date it had mostly been comfortable maintaining simply cordial relations rather than seeking direct diplomacy. With the lack of friends in Europe and more importantly the rising trade empire that was Carthage it seemed access to the Baltic and good relations with Sverige were a lot more important now. In line with this a formal invitation would be sent to the government. Due to the now active state of war the suggestion was made that having a diplomat from Carthage travel to Sverige might be a safer option.

  15. They had spent several days together, but unfortunately it was time to get back to work. The world they had visited had grown, from chaos came order, nations had risen, empires formed, and now the sides were set for a battle to decide the fate of this world. None of that mattered to Mogar though, The dream Empress Hoshiko had sold was turning into a nightmare for the population, there was no choice for them but to follow her into whatever she chose for her people. He had witnessed her innermost thoughts, saw every weakness and dark thought she ever had, she would lead them into darkness, or into a gloriously bright future. It was all out of his hands of course, he wanted no part of the war, he had his damsel back, and now it was time to return to where it all began. Back to Rapture, but did he create his own dream, or did it turn into a nightmare after he abandoned it? There were many questions to be answered, and many more artifacts to be collected. tick, tock, tick, tock.
  16. One of the unfortunate byproducts of the relationship between the two Empresses was that neither of them held the equipment required to produce an heir, and bringing in a third party would mean the child was not entirely theirs. Kazuko especially was quite interested in producing an heir, she was getting older and her husband had died before he could manage to do so, the poor sap. She looked upon herself in the mirror and sighed, she was not getting any younger. Technology meant she hadn't aged a bit since 25, but the biological clock was still tick tick ticking. She arranged for a trip to France, and sent word to Jeanne, perhaps a night together would give her the courage to discuss that subject with her secret lover. The world was a powder keg, with Romanians threatening the nations surrounding them, a state weakened by tragedy lashing out at their neighbors. In another world she would have reached out to the new Queen, having been in that position previously, but unfortunately it seemed they would not listen to reason. The trip went by in a flash, the hypersonic aircraft made flying much less of a chore, though she counted every minute, this would be their first "date", in years, hopefully everything went by perfectly.
  17. War had come to the Imperium, not that the average citizen noticed, the gigantic holographic displays and television screens would bombard the populations with images of the war, including the Empress herself riding in a Type 10. The subtle message that constant threats are all around them being disseminated , ensuring loyalty of the population regardless of ethnic or religious background. The enhanced shifts had led to even more money being spent are the bars and clubs of the nation, extra money meant more booze, and finding someone else for the night. The best part of this country to Mogar, was the darkness never really set on the Empire of the Rising Sun, they simply created their own light until the Dawn came once more. Pilots had to be specially trained to land in Tokyo, the amount of light pollution and lasers that strobes through the air caused for incredible discomfort to those who relied on the normal visual landing. Within the city itself, the neon and lights were overwhelming, he roamed the city streets seeking to clear his mind, talking to the Dreamer had given him pause, perhaps Antasija was not completely written off after all, and it was interesting there was others with his... technical prowess, though it appears to manifest in a far different way for him. He had taken him up on the offer but would be waiting a day, the first of the copies was to be sent to the Americas, as a test of how accurate they were to the real thing. There was so much to do, every world he visited was always thrown into chaos, he sighed and stopped in the middle of the alley, a rock in the river of people walking in either direction. Rain began to fall and he looked up at the sky, the clouds constantly reflecting any of the thousands of light sources of Tokyo. It was all going to come together, he just had to be patient, he thought to himself, stepping into the nearest club to get out of the rain.

  22. With recent changes in Europe and the increasingly important influence of Carthage on the continent the decision was made that diplomatic outreaches were needed for a more effective foreign policy. Romania had already reached out to Carthage and that left one other important party that seemed to rise in influence. The Prussians. In line with this a formal invitation would be extended to the Prussian king to visit Carthage in person or via a representative.
