Dear International....

I know many of you are concerned that somehow you're being set up for an attack. I wonder, though, if you realize just how well you're setting yourself up for it?

Let me backtrack for a moment.

Amid all the bickering between LSF and IRON there was some question as to whether the offending LSF nation had left the AA and applied to INT.

I'm not really interested in whether he did or not. What I am interested in is your GenSec's contribution to the discussion:

He actually put in an application to INT moments after the terms were accepted and the apology was posted.

At the time of this supposed application, LSF was already at war with Nordreich.

I have a few questions. They're very simple, and all but one can be answered with 'yes' or 'no'.

1. Did The International discuss this application with Nordreich in order to avoid accepting a nation belonging to an alliance at war?

2. Is is INT policy to aid nations that belong to alliances at war?

3. If The answer to #3 is 'No', did this guy not get the memo?

4. Is The International prepared to take responsibility for aid its members send to LSF nations?

5. What is INT prepared to do to compensate alliances injured by its members' actions?

Somehow I think IRON will be interested in these answers as well.

I suspect many individuals within Int presently don't care much for the politics, and would rather help out their friends, regardless of the consequences.

The part about accepting Opti could have been solved on your own with a quick trip over to INT's forums. He hasn't been accepted yet, and they've shown interest in talking with NoR and straightening things out. As for the tech deal, considering I see plenty of aid to NoR from outside alliances in the form of tech deals and straight up aid, I'm not sure what the problem is.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that IRON is not interested in DoWing on CnG.

With one caveat: They're more than welcome to do so. I won't object.

Meh. I wrote a whole reply and clicked add and then *poof*, it just disappeared. Maybe moderation is turned on and I'm double-posting now?

I'm lazy and ain't gonna rewrite the long version, so here's the short one:

-- Opti is an applicant. Opti has been nothing but an applicant since he resigned however many days ago. We had considered intervening diplomatically on his behalf, but since the IRON thing imploded in such a terrible way, we never reached the point where talking to Nordreich was necessary. And for the record, when Nordreich wanted to launch attacks on him, they vetted him with me first, so I'm quite aware of his precise state.

-- Our General Commissar has been working round the clock. The fact that he may have misspoke a few lines in the volumes output generated (IRC, owf posts, various forum posts, emails, PMs, etc.) is a trivial bit of e-lawyering, as far as I'm concerned.

-- The aid is obviously unsanctioned. Please encourage your government to make contact with us and we will resolve it immediately (I will make a similar effort at contact on our behalf).

Last I checked aid being sent in by noncombatant alliances was fine with that side of CN.

Scratch that, actually TPF wasn't allowed to aid STA even though AZTEC needed aid from Symphony. It's all about if you're on the ruling side or not. Might makes right of course!

ftr we never forbade that.

I suspect you are wrong.

If you see aid from other alliances going to Nordreich, it's an act of war. You may choose to ignore it or not. It's really up to you. I'm merely asking for clarification.

Hardly trivial, Craig. I wasn't the only person who noticed and thought, "Now wait a minute...."

I shall pass the message along. Thanks muchly.

In light of your General Combobulator's (wasn't it GenSec at one point?) earlier statement and -- let's be completely frank here -- previous attempts to embroil your alliance and mine in a war, I have trouble believing anything he says with respect to my alliance. Were the situation reversed and a known spy/AP had risen to the top of Nordreich, you would feel precisely the same way.

Last I checked aid being sent in by noncombatant alliances was fine with that side of CN.

An opinion from someone not even remotely connected to the conflict. Wonderful.

Oh, and btw, you're wrong.

Looks like a tech deal to me.

Awww, how cute. Someone gets a pat on the head and a gold star!

Banksy aided LSF, why no mad over that?

His 1 Tech donation to the evil Communards of the Libertarian Socialist Federation will never be forgotten. As long as there is a Nordreich, we will always remember this great betrayal by a nation that purported to be one of our allies.

You are so next, MK.

Not really defending INT, but you're calling out an alliance for accepting people unfriendly with another alliance at war while being allied to MK! LMFAO! That's great.

Off topic: Welcome back man. Glad to see you again. Where you been?

I don't really know and don't really care about the MK thing. My only concern is the alliance I belong to.

Working a little bit, but not much else. (By 'a little bit' I mean twice and for much less than a day on each occasion. I try to take RL retirement seriously, as opposed to my multiple CN retirements....)

Was supposed to go on a government-paid trip to east Asia, but the death of a certain diminutive dictator threw a spanner in the works. I might try to bring it up again next year, but I gotta be honest and say that every time I deal with the government I feel like there's a layer of slime left on me afterwards.

As of this month, 3/5 of my kids are finished high school. To my complete frustration, none will be in university or college come September. My older daughter has it narrowed down to a couple of choices and is working in one of those fields right now, but she wants to be sure. I've no problem with that. The boys just have no clue....but I can't say much since I waited four years after high school before starting my BA. (And then I got a degree in a field where I've yet to earn one cent. Go figure.)

The missus is running a bar these days, so I often go in to help her close (I'll be doing that this evening) since it helps to get her home an hour or more earlier if I pitch in with the clean-up. Sadly, she won't give me free booze. I'm thinking of calling a lawyer.

That all sounds pretty fun. (except having a cool trip delaying) It'd be cool to run your own bar, but I bet it's a lot of work :(
