JEDCJT
OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE NEW ENGLAND IN SPACE! The Department of State announced that the Republic of New England has now officially entered into the Space Age! After months and months of top-secret preparations, training, funding, and much patience (and love), the top-secret space program finally came to fruition. New England is now in space. Several miles west of the town of Eastville, in the southern part of the Delmarva Peninsula (in Virginia), the New England Space Administration (NESA) was putting the final preparations on the shuttle, named Space Shuttle New England. Scientists watched with anticipation as the New England prepared for takeoff, as staff workers put finishing touches and the like. A voice could be heard counting down the time over the PA system. “3…” “2…” “1…” “BLAST-OFF!” With that, the shuttle’s boosters roared to life as they fired huge balls of fire. With nearly deafening sound (which the scientists, technicians, and workers were insulated by earplugs or mufflers), the shuttle slowly ascended upward into the air. The scientists and directors could smile with satisfaction as they watched the shuttle soar higher and higher. They had accomplished a great achievement. But the shuttle launch wouldn’t be witnessed only by the NESA scientists and staff; ordinary citizens living in Eastville, as well as neighboring villages and towns, paused their daily activities as they watched the shuttle soar into the air with great fascination and interest. Millions of New Englanders across the nation watched this groundbreaking event closely on their television sets, either at home or in public. The shuttle was well on the way to greatness, into the vastness of space, where its astronauts would set foot on the Moon. Sure, the Americans set foot on the Moon in 1969, but this was New Englanders’ moment. And it was going to be glorious. 2017 (OOC: Using J Andres's time scale. Otherwise, it's 2009) shall be to New England as 1969 was to the first United States of America. The NESA, having achieved this glorious event, proudly announced that in addition to the Space Shuttle New England, further shuttles will be sent to the Moon in the near-future. To infinity and beyond! Edited September 3, 2009 by JEDCJT

We hope to have a moon base within two years and currently have three teams working on the moon for scouting.

Zoot Zoot
Premier Barney had a big paddy in learning that he missed the launch. He also sends 10 Malvinian Cigars to the New England's leadership in celebration for this feat of magnificence and scientific breakthrough. *Private to The New England Government* Premier Barney is an avid astronomer in his spare time and very much wishes to go to space to get a closer look at the stars, and to also wintess the beauty of planet bob from orbit. If it isnt too much trouble fancy sending him on your next mission.. he promises not to touch anything... senstive, and he has a habit of opening windows and doors...(OCD) so ill be sure to make sure hes tightly secured when important stuff is happening. sincerley M.Thatcher secretary of State

Zoot Zoot
CLASSIFIED RESPONSEA response came from the State Department, from SecDef Franklin Delano Roosevelt: *sekrit* Premier Barney will give New Englands government, and the NESA establishment a good few weeks notice before arrival. The premier, a previous military commander is VERY laid back and so takes it easy generally, so please dont bust a gut to accodate him on short notice. sincerley M.Thatcher
