Project Aurasphere

Project Aurasphere, more commonly referred to as Aurasphere, is one of Disparu's top-secret military projects. Aurasphere is Disparu's plans to construct a defence network capable of defending the entire nation from airborne attacks, whether it be from aircraft or missiles (both normal and nuclear).

Module 3: Atlantic Aerial Defence System

Status: COMPLETED

The Atlantic Aerial Defence System (AADS) will be a network of anti-missile and anti-aircraft towers scattered throughout eastern Disparu. The AADS will be responsible for protecting much of Disparu's eastern regions, especially the cities of Eterna and Pastoria. Like the SLADS and BADS, it is only capable of shooting down normal missiles and aircraft.

Module 3 has been recently completed and linked to Modules 1 and 2. All three modules are now under operation and will be able to protect Disparu from missile and aircraft attacks.

Module 5: Aura Satellite Network

Status: 1/3 LAUNCHED

The Aura Satellite Network (ASN) will be a network of three military geostationary satellites in orbit above Disparu. They will be used for various purposes, such as facilitating communication between the first four modules.

The first satellite of Module 5, Rayquaza I, has been launched into orbit with the help of our ally. Please see the following clip from DNN for more information.

The rocket instantly launched upwards into the air, belching a huge amount of smoke into the launch pad. The rocket quickly soared up into the sky, separating empty stages into the atmosphere as it quickly broke free of Bob's atmosphere. Meanwhile, controllers below would be making sure that everything was going well.

"Today is a historic day for Disparu. With the joint effort of the New England Space Administration (NESA) and the Disparuean Ministry of Science and Techology (DMoST), Disparu has launched its first ever satellite into orbit. The satellite, nicknamed "Rayquaza I" by the DMoST, is a military satellite that's owned and will be operated by the Government of Disparu. It's exact purpose has not been stated."

Snowpoint renamed to Ivujivik

As part of several plans to de-Pokémonize Disparu, the city of Snowpoint (capital of the province of Nunavik) has been renamed to Ivujivik after a quick vote by the City Council.

"We believe that renaming our great city back to Ivujivik would really reflect our Inuit culture better than Snowpoint ever will," said Casey Marks, mayor of Ivujivik, during an interview by DNN North. The name change has been applauded by the Provincial Government of Nunavik and several Inuit organizations. "We are glad to see our provincial capital follow our lead by renaming themselves back to its original name, just like what we did a couple of weeks ago," said Nunavik Governor Marc Söderström after an interview.

The city of Ivujivik, located at 62° N, 77° W, has an approximate population of 12,000, and an area of 75 km², making it the smallest, least-populated and northernmost provincial capital in Disparu.

His Royal Majesty Lance Pikachurin has announced today that he is abolishing Disparu's royal anthem, Le Festin, due to the reasons stated below.

"I do not see the reason as to why I need to have my own theme, anthem I mean, that's different from what Disparueans like you and me sing on a daily basis. Having a different royal and national anthem would create a rift - a divide - between the Monarch and the people he leads. Due to this, I hereby abolish the royal anthem of Disparu. Gens du Pays shall be the anthem that represents us all, regardless of status," said King Pikachurin during a speech broadcast in national television several hours ago.

The move has been applauded by most Disparueans, though it has also been criticized by some people claiming to be "royalists."

Construction of radio dishes!

Due to the launch of Disparu's first satellite into space, the Ministry of Science and Technology has announced its plan to construct a radio dish array that will be able to communicate with "friendly" satellites in orbit, and can also scan the sky for any celestial radio sources, such as pulsars. The planned array will be located in Disparu's northern areas, and will be named as the "Northern Radio Array."

Yesterday afternoon, a search team sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology has rediscovered the remains of the Black Mesa Research Facility, a research complex that contains a series of particle accelerators originally built by Canada. The complex, located approximately 500 km southwest of the city of Snowpoint, is now in ruins and can no longer function.

OOC: Just a note on Black Mesa. After the fall of Canada it was pillaged and raided by Tahoe and all the interesting stuff was taken or blown up. Some stuff is still there I'm sure though

Two more cities renamed!

The cities of Hearthome and Canalave have re-adopted their former names; Quebec City and Montreal, respectively. The re-adoption of both cities' former names is part of the Government's initiative to "de-Pokémonize" several aspects of Disparu, such as its numerous cities from the Pokémon video game series.

The re-adoption of the cities' former names was applauded by the Provincial Government of Coronet, citing it as a "favourable move to reestablish their [Montreal and Quebec City] ties with Disparu's rich past". The move was also applauded by Parti Français (French Party) leader Gilles Duceppe and Minister of Culture Roch Labrecque.

So far, the de-Pokémonization of three key cities - Ivujivik, Montreal and Quebec City - have been viewed favourably by most Disparueans. Disparueans are wondering if other "Pokémonized" cities will also meet the fate of the three other "de-Pokémonized" cities.

Space Telescope flown to New England

Earlier today, a transport plane carrying the Leclerc-Sarkara Space Telescope departed from Montreal's Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport en route to Springfield, Massachusetts. The Space Telescope was also accompanied by hundreds of Disparuean specialists and engineers. The Space Telescope was originally stored in the Ministry of Science and Technology's Spacecraft Construction Facility, located outside Montreal, before it was transported to New England.

The Leclerc-Sarkara Space Telescope is a joint project between the Disparuean Ministry of Science and Technology and the New Englander Space Administration. When launched, the Space Telescope will perform in the near-infrared range, and will be designed to look for light from the first stars and galaxies formed after the Big Bang. It will also be used to study the formation and evolution of galaxies, stars and planetary systems. The Leclerc-Sarkara Space Telescope will be in orbit at at Lagrange 2, located 1.51 million kilometres from the orbit of the Earth.

The Black Mesa Nuclear Defence System (BMNDS) will be a nuclear defence system located in central Disparu, specifically the area near the now-abandoned Black Mesa Research Facility built by the Canadians. As it's name states, it will be responsible for protecting Disparu from nuclear attacks. The BMNDS will be connected to the AADS, BADS and SLADS mainframe computers.

Construction of the BMNDS has commenced.

New coin set released!

The Royal Disparuean Mint, a department of the Ministry of Finance, has recently released a new, redesigned coin set. The new coin set, nicknamed as the "Puzzle set", is composed of the following denominations; 1¢, 5¢, 10¢, 25¢, $1 and $2. Each coin has a Disparuean symbol on the obverse side, and a part of the Disparuean Coat of Arms on the reverse side. Coins of differing denominations can be collected in order to form an incomplete version of the Disparuean Coat of Arms.

The redesigned penny (1¢) is extremely unique, as it's reverse side has five different designs. All five versions will be circulated.

The Ministry of Finance has already released the redesigned coins, and will begin to phase out the old coin set over the next few months.

Francophone Office declared unconstitutional

The infamous Francophone Office, a department of Coronet Province's Ministry of Culture, has been declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court of Disparu. The Provincial Government of Coronet has been ordered by the Supreme Court to shut the Office down. The Supreme Court has also overturned any previous decisions by the Francophone Office, and has reopened cases involving the Office.

The result of the case has been applauded by several Disparuean officials. "This is a historic case, and I hope that this will set the precedent for all future cases regarding language." said Green Party leader and human rights activist Erika Gardenia. The result, however, has also been condemned by others. "The decision of the Supreme Court is an abomination! How will we protect Disparu's fragile French culture now that the Francophone Office has been eradicated?" said Parti Français (French Party) official Millard Martineau. Political experts have said that the case's result will severely undermine the Parti Français' bid to establish the Francophone Office in the federal level.

Despite the fact that both English and French are the official languages of Coronet, French remains dominant and widely used in the province's Government due to the Francophone Office. The Francophone Office's controversial policies, such as it's policy to remove all English signs within Coronet, and it's attempts to ban English from the province's public school system, have been condemned by several officials and activists.

The new Disparuean coins quickly became a sensation among New Englander citizens, especially these living alongside the border between Coronet and New York State. The coins became the "hottest thing" today, and some New Englander collectors even offered to pay tens of thousands of dollars for the full set. And not to mention, there would be a flood of New Englanders into Disparu to try to get some of the new coins. "I love the designs!" An coin enthusiast in Fort Orange, New York, claimed to the New York Times today. "I'm going to Disparu soon!"

Animal abuse suit ruled by court as invalid

The Supreme Court of Disparu, the highest court in Disparu and the final court of appeal in the Disparuean justice system, has ruled that the several charges of animal abuse charged against Cyneriice Northan were invalid under current Disparuean law.

A statement issued by the Office of the Judicial Triumvir stated that, "Cyneriice Northan is recognized as an independent and sovereign state by the Government of Disparu, and as a result, it is out of the jurisdiction of the laws of Disparu." The ruling followed a precedent set over a year ago, when a Disparuean man attempted to sue the Tahoe Republic for several counts of human rights violations using the Disparuean justice system. The case was also considered invalid.

The case was brought before the Supreme Court by Erika Gardenia, the current leader of the Green Party and a well-known activist, two days after Cyneriice Northan issued an announcement regarding it's plan to create a polar bear calvary. The Supreme Court released it's ruling five days later, on 9 January 2011. "The court's ruling in this case is extremely disappointing." said Gardenia during a press conference. "Disparu should've done something to prevent polar bears from being driven into extinction."

Almian teacher ordered by MoE to cease and desist

The Province of Almia's Ministry of Education has ordered an applied linguistics high school teacher residing in the town of Fermont, Almia to cease and desist his teaching style, which the Ministry claims is "going against official policy".

The teacher in question, Jacques Mouet, more commonly known by the students as the "Leetster", is infamous for his lenience and usage of leetspeak, an alternative alphabet for the English language that is used primarily on the Internet. Interviews with his colleagues in the high school he teaches has revealed that Mouet allows his students to use leetspeak in homework, projects, essays, and other work related to his class. He has even translated some of the books they read in class to leetspeak, such as To Kill a Mockingbird. He claims that this is to make the books more readable for his students. Here is a quote taken from one of the translated books, in comparison to the original quote:

Mouet defended his teaching style. During an interview with DNN, Mouet was quoted as saying, "The linguistics course isn't a static subject that would continue to stay the same even after a million years. It continuously evolves as time goes on, with archaic words being dropped out of common usage, and with new words being added to the dictionary. The children are our future, and I think that they're evolving our language into the next level. Who are we to stop the future from occurring?"

Even though he is viewed negatively by most of his colleagues, he is also favoured by his students. "Mr. Mouet is such an awesome teacher!" said one student when asked about his opinion on Mouet. "He, like, let's us express ourselves, and, yeah, that's cool."

Possible political party merger?

There have been several talks on a possible merger between the Empire Party and the Democratic Party. Both parties have reached a consensus on several issues lately, and have also agreed on decisions with favourable results for both sides. In fact, both parties are almost identical, with the exception of their leaders and political structure. Not much is known about this yet, since both parties have refused to release a statement regarding the merger, so stay tuned.

Two Transportation Systems Completed!

The Ministry of Development and Infrastructure, currently headed by Minister Armand Hervieux (CPD), has announced the completion of the Inter-Provincial Highway System and the High-Speed Rail Network.

Developed over a period of several months, the Inter-Provincial Highway System is currently one of the most expensive and largest public works project in the history of Disparu. The Highway System is designed to make transportation by car safer, faster and more efficient compared to the old primitive road system that preceded the current Highway System. The Highway System currently spans throughout Disparu, and connects several cities, towns, settlements, and other places of interest throughout the nation.

Another transportation system, the High-Speed Rail Network (HSRN), has also been completed. The HSRN is composed of hundreds of high-speed trains that connect several major cities throughout Disparu - such as Jubilife, Eterna, Montreal, Quebec City, Pastoria, Ivujivik, Trois-Rivières and several more.

Like their predecessors, both transportation systems will be linked to the American railway and highway system.

New Government Agency Created!

The Ministry of Science and Technology, currently headed by Minister Isabelle Auberjonois (CPD), has announced the creation of a new Government agency under the Ministry of Science and Technology; the Disparuean Space Agency (DSA). As it's name states, the Disparuean Space Agency will be responsible for the Disparuean space program and civilian and military aerospace research. The DSA will be taking over the Ministry's spatial responsibilities - it will now be responsible for the three Disparuean Government-operated satellites currently in orbit, the operation of government-operated launch sites within Disparu, and the development and operation of the Leclerc-Sarkara Space Telescope (which is a joint project between the Disparuean and the American space agencies).

Today was an extremely special day for Disparueans everywhere. It was 26 February, the day the Federation of Disparu officially became a nation - a day more commonly known as Disparu Day. Government officials and civilians have prepared celebrations throughout the nation to commemorate this day, whether it would be as extravagant as the event being planned in the federal capital, [url="http://cybernations.wikia.com/wiki/Jubilife"]Jubilife[/url], or as simple and humble as a celebration being held in a lot of Disparuean homes.

The celebrations in Jubilife were being held in front of the New Parliament Building and started before noon. The celebrations were opened by a speech from [url="http://cybernations.wikia.com/wiki/Monarchy_of_Disparu"]King[/url] [url="http://cybernations.wikia.com/wiki/Lance_Pikachurin"]Pikachurin[/url], both in English and French.

Our infrastructure and technology were developed for the people, and our land expanded until it finally covered almost all of the former regions of Quebec and Labrador. Disparu befriended several other nations, such as the [url="http://cybernations.wikia.com/wiki/Großgermania"]People's Empire of Greater Germania[/url], the Federated States of America, the member nations of the Aqua Defense Initiative, and the other signatories of the Confederation of Arctic Nations, an organization which Disparu helped to create. Of course, we have also experienced several tragedies along the way, such as the death of our first Monarch and the death of so many Disparueans in the battlefield during the [url="http://cybernations.wikia.com/wiki/Disparu#Unknown_War"]Unknown War[/url].

Be proud that you are Disparuean. Be proud that you are a citizen of a nation ruled by a benevolent, democratically-elected Government which is designed to serve the people instead of ruling over them with an iron fist. Be proud that you are a citizen of a nation where your rights are assured and respected, and where your basic needs are met by the Government and other organizations. Not everyone in the world is lucky enough to be in a nation like Disparu.

We couldn't have become this great without the help and cooperation of Disparueans like you. Without the citizens of Disparu, we are nothing. We also couldn't have become this great without the help of the numerous people who make up the federal and provincial governments. These people have dedicated their time and sweat to make our nation great.

Let us celebrate our achievements and successes as a nation today, and look forward to working for a brighter future for all of us. Long live Disparu! [i]Vive le Disparu![/i]"

The King's speech was followed by the national anthem of Disparu, [i][url="http://cybernations.wikia.com/wiki/Gens_du_Pays"]Gens du Pays[/url][/i] (People of My Country), which was sung by [url="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilles_Vigneault"]Gilles Vigneault[/url], the anthem's original writer, as well as four other Disparuean singers. The Disparuean flag was raised as the national anthem played.

Presentations depicting Disparu's history and culture were presented immediately after the anthem. People attending the celebrations could do other things as well, such as getting their face painted or riding an amusement ride. Food was being served as well. Almost everything was free of charge, since the Government was kind enough to pay for all of them.

Similar celebrations were also being held throughout Disparu, such as the provincial capitals of Quebec City, Eterna, Pastoria and Ivujivik, and other Disparuean cities. At night the skies of Disparu would be illuminated by thousands of fireworks.

After 9:30 PM, bars throughout Disparu would begin to serve drinks for free, paid for by the Government.
