UnitedNations
Hey, Does technology still offer a military boost after level 300? Thanks.

Rozalia
It should... It would make tech heavy nations unbeatable so no.
kswiss2783
It would make tech heavy nations unbeatable so no. I think tech up to 1000 or so should help the military then.
Drai
Agreed, 300 is extremely low, I would actually like to see 3000 tech eventually since that's where the great university bonus stops. Tech Heavy nations wouldn't do better in war if this was the case, because they would be in a nation strength range where if they were fighting a balanced nation (tech-wise) the infrastructure advantage from the other nation (more soldiers) would counter-act the tech bonus held by the tech-heavy nation. thedestro
For some reason, I thought tech infinitely increased the probability of winning in battles?
shopt
No. Past 300, tech only does 3 things: Decrease infra bills Increase NS Help with the great uni (up to 3000).
Rozalia
No.Past 300, tech only does 3 things: Decrease infra bills Increase NS Help with the great uni (up to 3000). Why does everyone seem to forget Scholers?
cookieking
Why does everyone seem to forget Scholers? Because when you hit 300 tech, I am pretty sure you will have enough lit rate, if you have schools and universities that is.
shopt
Why does everyone seem to forget Scholers? My bad. By 300 if you have a few schools and unis you should have scholars, but to get scholars without schools or unis, I think you need 400 tech (someone in my old alliance tested it). As to why everyone forgets, the reason is lead
chongjasmine
Hmm... so 300 tech is the maximum for military advantage?
Rozalia
Because when you hit 300 tech, I am pretty sure you will have enough lit rate, if you have schools and universities that is. I didn't. I'm not one of those who buys schools right at the start. Off course I did have Scholers before reaching the first jump . Enrique Barrentos
Tech beyond 300 also considerably helps your spies chances of success...
Maikuolan
Decrease infra bills I hadn't heard of this. Do you know what sort of rate the decrease is?
shopt
Tech beyond 300 also considerably helps your spies chances of success... Yeah, forgot about that too. I hadn't heard of this. Do you know what sort of rate the decrease is? The discount is 2 * tech/NS, and it is capped at 10%.
Aeternos Astramora
I hadn't heard of this. Do you know what sort of rate the decrease is? Pretty low. I'm sure you could find out by clicking on Technology Information from your nation's page, but I just received 150 tech, and my bills (at about 5.6K infra and with labor camps) went down only $8,000 a day, which when compared to about $2.6 million of bills per day, I barely notice it. Shardoon
Result of this thread: TECH IS OVER RATED Most of us already knew that. The rest of us have gotten our BUTTS handed to us in WARZ because of inflated NS and have quit buying it. Link to TECH INFO Technology - Technology is represented by a technology level that represents the tools, hardware, and software that help your nation do what it does...better. Technology works similar to infrastructure in the game but is much more expensive at $10,000 per level increase (You can purchase technology a fractions of levels for less than $10K). Like land and infrastructure, the cost or technology increases the more you buy. You cannot sell technology as you can land or infrastructure but you can send up to 50 technology levels at a time away to other nations in foreign aid. Technology can also be captured by an attacker during battle. The following are the benefits of Technology. 1. Technology makes your people happy. Here's how the game currently figures it: Technology = 0 then happiness = -1 Technology > 0 and <= .5 then happiness = +0 Technology > .5 and <= 1 then happiness = +1 Technology > 1 and <= 3 then happiness = +2 Technology > 3 and <= 6 then happiness = +3 Technology > 6 and <= 10 then happiness = +4 Technology > 10 and <= 15 then happiness = +5 Technology > 15 then happiness = + 5 + (Tech purchased * .02) up to level 200 tech 2. Battle outcomes are still randomly generated but the outcome of battle is now affected by your technology level. Having a higher technology level allows you to equip your soldiers with better weapons and get more kills. The effect works for both attacking and defending nations. Here's the current equation: Normal Number of Kills * (Technology Purchased * 10%This means that if you have a technology level of 5 and in a regular battle you would normally get 100 kills you would actually get 50 more kills as a result of your technology level. (100*(5*.10) = 50) 3. Technology increases your nation strength. 4. Technology decreases infrastructure upkeep costs up to a maximum 10% discount based on the following formula: (2 * Technology Level) / Nation Strength = Percent off infrastructure upkeep bill
Vitauts
what about its effect in air battles? I heard a rumor that it affects air battles up to 600 tech.. is this true?

lastr0ce
Pretty low. But that's because it's VERY effective for nation with an Absurd ratio tech: infra The higher the ratio, the more profit you get. I think. Nevermind : up to a maximum 10% discount Edited October 24, 2007 by lastr0ce
Aeternos Astramora
So unless tech improvements come into play, then 3K tech is definitely the most you need (maybe more if you plan to be in wars and possibly losing some), and the 3K is only needed for the GU wonder. shopt
Over 3k still helps with spies.
Veritas
Never stop buying tech there is no reason not to continue to buy it forever, it's dirt cheap. Well i guess if you want to be constantly dishing out aid it's gonna use up your aid slots but other than that the only reason to stop doing tech deals is laziness. -Veritas
