OOC: I sent you a pm forever ago requesting my home state of Missouri. I've been making a long-term roleplay out of which a nation will eventually emerge, if you'd like to take part. My request for Missouri still stands, however.

Murfreesboro, Tennessee Federation- Tornadoes have made their huge impact in the heartland of Tennessee. A record setting number of tornadoes passed through the area today. Citizens all through the area took shelter starting around noon as these large storms made their way through. Tennessee emergency crews are still operating to help the damaged areas. The Murfreesboro airport was damaged and emergency crews are still working to get it back up and running at full capacity. The storms are rapidly moving east and are making their way into Ardoria.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (April 10) - A tornado killed a woman and her 9-week-old infant and also injured dozens Friday in central Tennessee as a line of storms lifted homes, ripped off roofs and dumped hail in the Southeast.

Elsewhere, a tornado touched down in southwestern Kentucky, injuring two people and destroying homes. A possible tornado was reported in northeast Alabama. And large hail began falling in several North Carolina counties.

At least 41 people were hurt in Rutherford County, Tenn., four of them critically, in the aftermath of a storm system that killed three in western Arkansas a day earlier.

"I think we're right in the middle of tornado alley these days," said Dan Goodwin of the Rutherford County Sheriff's Department.Dispatchers at the Rutherford County Emergency Management Agency said the area was "heavily impacted" after several eyewitness reports of a tornado on the ground around 12:30 p.m.

In Murfreesboro, 30 miles southeast of Nashville, at least three dozen homes were destroyed.

Kori Bryant, in her mid-20s, and 9-week-old Olivia Bryant were identified as the dead.

"They were found outside of the residence," rescue official Randy White said. "It looked like they were trying to get to the car. The infant was in a car seat."

Amy Jones, 32, was at work at State Farm Insurance when she heard that her house had been leveled. She was stunned when she got to the scene and saw that the 1,800-square-foot home with a garage was lifted completely off the foundation and dropped on her neighbor's home.

"My house is on top of someone else's house. It's surreal," Jones said.

Joe Spencer, 23, a student at Middle Tennessee State University, said he had only moments to react but survived a direct hit on his house.

"I was going to open the door to see what was going on and I looked straight at a tornado," Spencer said.

He yelled at his brother to take shelter in one of the home's bathrooms and then ran to the other, jumping into the bathtub while holding his dog, LLoyd."The bathtub started shaking, and I just tried to grab ahold to anything I could. I grabbed the nozzle and turned on the water," Spencer said. Hours later, he was still wet up to his knees.

Spencer, his brother and dog were shaken but uninjured. Outside, the storm's power was apparent. The roof over the living room of the house was gone and the rest of the roof was caved in.

Friday afternoon, search teams fanned out across Murfreesboro, a city of about 100,500, looking for anyone trapped in homes. Clyde Atkinson, spokesman for the Murfreesboro Police Department, said he believes there were three to five touchdowns mostly in the northern and western parts of the city.

A grocery store evacuated customers into a cooler until the storm passed.

Roofs were ripped away from at least a dozen homes, and some trees were blown down. A bulldozer was clearing tree limbs and other debris from streets.

Several homes were emblazoned with a spray-painted "c," indicating emergency crews had checked them.

Thousands of utility customers lost power.

In Kentucky, State Trooper Stu Recke said one person suffered a broken hip and leg while the other suffered a broken ankle. Both were taken to a hospital for treatment, Recke said.

One of the homes destroyed belonged to Robert Huggins, 65, who said he, his son and two other men were working in his garage when the tornado hit.

"We heard it coming," Huggins said. "We went to the garage door and it got louder and louder. It was like a freight train like everybody says."

Huggins said his son told him to hit the ground when debris started flying, then his son and another man fell on top of him.

"When we stood up, there wasn't anything left," he said. It only took about three minutes, he said, and his 2,500-square-foot home was gone.

His daughter-in-law, who was inside the home, was thrown about 70 feet and was taken to the hospital. He said his 10-year-old grandson, who was also in the home, suffered only bruises.

On Thursday night, a black funnel cloud descended on the western Arkansas hamlet of Mena, killing at least three, injuring 30 and destroying or damaging 600 homes.

An initial survey of the damage suggests the tornado packed winds of at least 136 mph, weather service forecaster John Robinson said Friday.

Associated Press writers Kristin M. Hall in Murfreesboro and Lucas L. Johnson II in Mannington, Ky., contributed to this report.

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE, TENNESSEE FEDERATION- A groundbreaking ceremony was held today for the Tennessee Tower today. It is to be the largest tower in Tennessee and one of the largest in America.

SignatureTower-a00.jpg

An image of the new tower.

The Tennessee Tower is projected to contain 400 condo units, a 100-200-room boutique hotel, 300,000 square feet of office space and 20,000 square feet of retail space. It is a representation of the growth of Tennessee in trade and wealth.

A view of the tower and the capital of Nashville.

Work will begin immediately and openings are available for foreign corporations.

OOC: The real life tower was built way shorter because of the airport (some crap about it blocking flight paths... just fly around it morons), but I am building it here full scale as it should have been. :)

FORT CAMPBELL, TENNESSEE, TENNESSEE FEDERATION - Yesterday there was a press conference at the main air force base in Tennessee. General Parkten spoke about plans for the military's future development. He said that plans were being developed to fortify the Mississippi River on the East side. "It will also ensure the smooth transit of goods and people along the Mississippi." He also mentioned the plan to continue to fortify the rest of Tennessee's borders. "We are only securing ourselves for our people. No great restraint will be put on international trade."

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE, TENNESSEE FEDERATION- The Tennessee Federation has officially endorsed the Atlantian Federation for it's admittance into the Bermuda Triangle Pact. "We wish to see this unity and security for our glorious nation." Open borders and extended trade will expand the entire region. Upon it's admittance, the BTP will be one of, if not the, largest bloc in North America. Unity between the Atlantian Federation and Tennessee has always been strong. The two nations already have a treaty and participate in wargames. Trust is obviously strong here and may it last forever.

Tennessee has language reform.

Considering many intellectual debates over the issue, the 'archaic' english is making somewhat of a come back. One can also relate it to the modern German language. Many people have started capitalizing all nouns in their writing. The habit has even spread into the government. To conclude on the issue, a resolution passed that the Government would use this 'new' writing style in all public writings. The way is quickly spreading to private writings as well. The writing style is been called the "Mag Style" named after current president Magnimer.

A Tennessee National Song:

The Pride of Tennessee

From the Smokie Mountain Mornings to the Mississippi shores

Let's take time to remember those who went before

Whose lives made a difference in the world for you and me

Their courage faith and vision are the Pride of Tennessee

Sequoyah was a Cherokee the chief of all his tribe

His people learned to read and write with the alphabet he scribed

When Tennessee became a State its Governor was clear

There was no better leader than the gallant John Sevier

From the backwoods to the Congress to his stand at the Alamo

Davy Crockett gave his life for the country he loved so

Three Presidents from Tennessee made impressions on this land

Jackson, Polk and Johnson were men who took a stand

Ida Wells Barnett fought bravely for the rights of men

When they were killed by prejudice for the color of their skin

He was drafted in the first world war though he did not want to go

His shooting skills made Alvin York a national hero

When women of Tennessee believed they had the right to vote

Ann Dallas Dudley led the fight and gave them hope

Cordell Hull had a vision for peace around the world

The United Nations where all countries' flags unfurl

From Beale Street down in Memphis to New York front page news

WC Handy's music made him father of the blues

Yes Courage, Faith and Vision are the Pride of Tennessee

(OOC: Purpose you ask? Well A: I like it. B: It sets up for a misinterpretation for nationalism (think German national anthem...)

Tri-Star Motor Company (OOC: Work in progress. Other sections and more depth will be added.)

History: The Tri-Star Motor company was founded by Harry Forks in New Port. He established in his company the ideals of Tennessee: freedom, liberty, and capitalism. With this ideology, he set out to perfect the automobile. The result was a high popularity and amazing sells. The cars virtually overtook Tennessee. Perhaps it was also its nationalistic appeal with the Tri-Star symbol. While Tennesseans are very tolerant of most other nations, but they still take pride in where they are from and anything that it nation can do. The strong capitalistic nature innately implanted a high feeling of competition. However, they were highly honorable. Forks displayed this. He did not use any underhanded or dark schemes to become the auto capital in the country. He only used honest work and the rules of capitalism and popularity.

Today: The Tri-Star Motor company represents the epitome of the "Liberty Dream". Anyone can accomplish anything if they put their minds to it and live by the rules of freedom and individuality. The company is a great asset to Tennessee. It has numerous factories throughout the nation and is even expanding throughout the world. The largest plants are in North Port and Chattanooga (OOC: pull off of the VW plant going up there). The jobs created through the sale, maintenance, production, and advertisement have been the greatest the nation has ever seen. Other industries thrive next to this one, but the Tri-Star backed automotive industry is one of the most important.

Tennessee Tax Policy

An Overview:

Tennessee has no income tax. It simply has a national sales tax. This systems promotes business and trade. It brings in more than enough money to the government. The tax in inclusive which means that it is included on the final listed price (something is five dollars, you pay five dollars since no other tax is added). This is one of the more liberty-esque tax policies of the world.

OOC: Fair Tax Math fail. If something costs 1 dollar, using the fair tax's rate of 23%, the you would pay $1.23 for it.

ooc Then I believe the list price would be 1.23. Maybe I got the wording wacked... Granted I don't know a whole lot about the policy, but it's unique.
