  1. I agree. If you don't have a core group that would start an alliance with you, I imagine it would be tough. Starting an alliance by yourself kinda goes against the definition of an alliance, don't ya think?
  2. Actually, no. That's backwards since the population boosters are by percentage and the income boosters are by happiness points. Imagine if your nation had 1,000,000 citizens and $1000 income....would you rather have a 5% increase from Cattle or every possible happiness booster?
  3. I'd love to see what your worst-case analysis shows. 12 ground attacks 1 defeat alert 12 bomber runs 12 CMs 6 nukes 18 Naval Actions (I'm not sure how you would even calculate Blockade effects) All of that at max damage, and replenishing all your military in between them all, not to mention replenishing after your own attacks. Yeesh...I'd better start saving a bit more!
  4. That's interesting. I just read this, and I'd happened to notice earlier tonight the same thing. Part of this is due to low radiation levels, but that is a big change. I was chalking it up as an expired event I forgot about or something, but if you noticed it too, than perhaps there's more going on here. I smell conspiracy!
  5. I just looked at your nation. How did you manage to get to -7 improvement slots?! Nonetheless, if you ditch most (or even all) of your border walls, you should be able to effectively improvement swap as I mentioned earlier. And yes, if 30 days have past since your last wonder, you definitely want to spend some of your money on the next one. Interstate may not be a bad choice...you probably want either that or Internet next (since you don't seem to use your aid slots, the DRA is not a good choice for you as it would be for some).
  6. It sounds like you probably aren't improvement swapping then. This is no longer just helpful, but essentially necessary by this time in your nation development, as you have pointed out. If you're not familiar...essentially you buy labor camps and keep them for many days, paying your bills every day but not collecting taxes. Then you ditch the camps and collect taxes without them. And keep repeating this cycle. The added income from this should outweigh the cost of the improvements.
  7. This is very true. I used to use the .xls version mentioned earlier, but I do recall that at the 2k jump, it essentially tells you that it will never be profitable (it said 900, but only b/c it only calculated out to 900). At one point, I almost had enough ambition to update this program to account for the improvements. Unfortunately, I started doing so, but never really got it to a point that would be worthy of publication. But, yeah, as raskull said, the correct answer is typically as much as it takes to be able to buy the next best improvement for the 2k jump. I think the 3k jump was similar.
  8. AA? That's what you're new alliance is called, eh, Don? "My name is Don, and I'm an alcoholic." "Hi Don!" P.S. JOIN TTK!
  9. My nation: Irwinland Ruler: King Irwin Team: Maroon My resources: coal and oil I am seeking a permanent trade partner with Fish and Water. Maroon preferred, but I'm willing to entertain other colors. I am willing to pay for this trade. Send me a PM, and we can talk about compensation.
  10. If there's a land cap, it's obviously well above 10,000. The top nation (http://www.cybernations.net/nation_drill_display.asp?Nation_ID=163723) currently has over 26,000 miles of purchased land (over 42,000 miles total).
  11. I wonder how many nations have really made this work. It'd be a huge advantage, but like you say difficult to pull off. You'd need a whole second set of trade partners ready to accept your offers on a moment's notice every collection day as well. Huge pain that I doubt many have pulled off. As for the resources, there are very few combos that are worth deleting your nation for. Certainly not yours. I have coal and oil...certainly not the best, but both good for the 5-bonus industrial set like yours, and I haven't had too much difficulty with trades. Especially now that I can just bribe smaller nations every time a trade partner gets deleted on me.
  12. Or you could always create multiple accounts, and have them wage war against each other while sending lots of aid. Your nation should get deleted pretty quickly that way Just not sure that you'd ever be able to create another one, assuming that was your intent...
  13. ^THIS Just like in the regular CN, people play for a variety of reasons. Why would you not think that some nations are actually trying to get to the top of the rankings?
  14. Sort of. http://tournament.cybernations.net/allNati...=Land_Purchased This won't display the numbers, but it will rank them for you so you can see who has the most at least.
  15. This is somewhat annoying. I was never buying them for $3M like others here, but I used to get them for $9M, which was perfect because it was basically one aid slot continuously devoted to donations (3 payments per month). I'm not sure how much higher it could go though. For my nation, I could use 1 aid slot for a month for a tech deal and profit about $50M (over buying my own tech). A donation is worth about $105M for me, so it's more beneficial to do the 2 tech deals than to pay $18M ($100M profit > $87M profit...both requiring 6 aid slots). $15M is a worthwhile deal for me, as it is effectively worth ~$18M/slot vs ~$16.7M/slot for tech deals. There is no reason for me to ever pay more than $15M for my nation. I actually have a much higher infra/tech ratio than average, so I would expect very few nations to find a $21M deal more profitable than tech dealing. If the donating nation wants tech also (which is now common), it honestly isn't worth my paying any more than $6M + 100 tech (2 aid slots), and that deal is really not likely to be found. Even $9M + 100 tech is less profitable than tech deals.
  16. If your env is not perfect (GRL+1), then you want democracy when you collect taxes. It has +1 Happiness, and -1 Env. If the environment boost would not help you, then I suppose you would want to get that tiny land increase...so Monarchy or Totalitarian. When you pay bills, you probably want to have Federal or Revolutionary. If you're too lazy to government swap, keeping it on Democracy all the time isn't bad...except when you're ready to purchase more infra, but based on the advise here, you probably won't be doing much of that for a while.
  17. I second this idea. I feel your pain, Lord Gen. I was scammed by the same nation a month ago, and he/she just keeps doing it to more and more nations. This kind of bull*@#! is making me care less and less about trying to find donations. In the end, I agree that it will hurt the game because it both takes away from the fun, and makes players less interested in funding donations to the game.
  18. It's an interesting point that the original post mentions. I seem to recall the same issue using any calculator for the 2k jump in particular. With my nation, the math told me that it would never be worth it. Of course, that does not take into consideration the fact that you can buy improvements, as already discussed plenty in this thread. I intended a long time ago to update an infra jump calculator with the effects of buying new improvements...but I think it's safe to say now that that will never happen
  19. I want you to know that these charts are already awesome, so I hope you don't mind a little bit of constructive critisism. One thing that I noticed could be improved is the "30-day alliance strength history" chart. If you look at any medium to large alliance, it pretty much just looks like a straight line across the top. Perhaps you could scale from the smallest number to the biggest number within the time window (vs. the current method of using 0 as the low value). This would show changes much more appreciably.
  20. These charts are great! And I love how the most common government by far is Anarchy! Is it possible to show some type of distribution of nation strengths? I'm thinking a graph that shows NS on the x-axis vs. nation rank percentage on the y-axis. It could be a quick way to see just how much more NS you would need to reach whatever goal you have. Maybe even specifically mark the requisite percentage for nuclear strength on there too (if there even is a requirement in TE)
  21. ^THIS Deleting your nation is absolutely the wrong course of action. If you absolutely prefer a certain gov and/or religion, well, hey you're the boss. Set it to whatever you want...the people just won't be happy about it, and will be less productive as a result. But starting a new nation will solve nothing, because the people change their religious and political desires on a whim. Every month or so, they will probably change their mind anyway.
  22. admin, I just realized today that some of these great changes were not made to the "All Alliances Display" screen (http://www.cybernations.net/allAlliances_display.asp). Could you add in the "sort ascending" AND "sort descending" capability to this page as well?
  23. I think he was just referring to your swearing there, Trukz...
  24. So a dumb question perhaps, but I haven't had an event in a very long time, so... If my event says it expires on Aug 23, does that mean that they effects will be in place up to and including the 23rd? Or will I go back to having no event at the start of Aug 23?
  25. I had a similar question about blockades in this forum a week or so ago. The responses I got then were similar...it is counterintuitive perhaps that the blockade remains after the war, but if that wasn't the case, they would be pretty worthless b/c everyone would just wait it out.
