  1. Yeah, I'm in...if you'll take Wine as your add'l resource. I have rubber and wine. I'll pick whatever color you decide on (currently maroon, but I don't care).
  2. Thanks for all the good responses. Yes, I try to donate or buy a donation almost every month. This is why it has never seemed necessary to buy more land beyond that free 200 each month. I just ran some calcs including the bills associated with infra (thanks Veritas and Syzygy...somehow I actually forgot this part!). At my size, it seems infra is still much more profitable than land in terms of daily net income. (by about 300% actually...even though about half of my additional income goes towards bills). What I just found depressing though is that it seems that buying infra will take more than a year for the investment to pay off! And that's still better than land, which will take about 4 years! Of course, this time will be reduced as I keep adding wonders, but stlill...that sucks! Edit: @Mogar: No, thankfully, I have never had to be too concerned with nuclear damage.
  3. Best answer right there. There are all sorts of additional ways to improve your income...but it sounds like you want to start with the basics. The standard way of getting income is by collecting taxes (under Nation Transactions on the left).
  4. I like it! I'm especially happy to see the "sort ascending" option for each column. I often list them all by strength, then by infra, then by...etc. and I used to have to click each column twice to see the top nations. As for land, I agree that would be nice, if there's space. If it's already as full as you can get it for low resolutions, I think you've got the priorities right though.
  5. Does a blockade expire when peace is declared? It would makes sense that it would, and yet it is not clear from the help page. Here's the information from the Help page: So it sounds like the blockade only ends if 1) it is broken by the blockaded nation, done through some kind of counter attack (I think with your own "Blockade" move, but I'm not certain), or 2) taxes are collected by the blockaded nation It makes no mention of war expiration or peace declaration...is that an intentional omission, or an oversight?
  6. I was just defeated in battle when I attacked, and yet I still managed to steal a little tech and destroy some infra and land. Does this have anything to do with the attack being "Aggressive"?
  7. Your answer lies here... http://cybernations.wikia.com/wiki/Religion
  8. That's right. I forgot to list that one. However, the population bonus is fairly worthless compared to the respective gains of infrastructure. Infra is several times more worthwhile in this respect. Rupert seems to understand my thoughts precisely. The 2/1 bonus is nice, but it hardly seems like a reason for me to buy another 3000 or so miles of land.
  9. So I was looking at the rankings today, and realize that I have far less land than the average nation of my strength (NS rank = 396, Land rank = 1561). Is there something I'm missing here? I don't think I've bought any land in over a year, since I am at least getting 200 most months for donation bonuses. Is there any reason to get more than that? I know that land would be a better investment than infrastructure, in terms of purely inflating NS (about $60k per NS point for land vs. $100k per NS point for infra, for my nation right now). However, I'm not very concerned with NS growth, and I'd rather focus on truly growing my nation, since the formula for NS can change at any time. So what else does land do for you? Need 3000 for a couple wonders...but I don't want these wonders for several months yet anyway. Need 1000 for Navy...already have this much, so not a concern. Slight defending ground battle bonus...how slight? is this important? Slight spy counter-operation bonus...again, is this important? +1 Env bonus for having less than 2/1 ration of infra/land...this is the bonus, here, right? Major unhappiness for having less than (??) pop/mile...I can't remember exactly how much, but I have water, so this is very high anyway, and again not a concern. EDIT: Also a small population bonus...a fraction of one citizen per mile though isn't much compared to 10 or so citizens per infra Am I forgetting anything else? And how important do you think those military/spy bonuses are?
  10. So this has made it to page 5 again, huh? I wonder how many people actually read this anyway...
  11. Send me a PM and name your price.
  12. Thanks! Maybe next time then...this sounds like a cool idea!
  13. You should give more information. For NEO...it matters whether you are importing any of those resources, and what your current Environment level is (i.e...can it get better with this wonder or not), and what is your total amount of infra bills per day. For NPP...yes, you import Uranium, but do you use it for Nukes or for Economic purposes. If your nation stance is that you don't like nukes anyway, this wonder is not that great. Most likely, the NPP is best if you have nukes, and NEO is best otherwise.
  14. How does one sign up for the TE? Should I assume that it was invitation only, and/or it's too late, since this is just an alpha release?
  15. If you have enough for 300-400 more infra, that should definitely be enough to be worthwhile. Like sayton's post just before mine, I don't think there is any reason to ever stop anytime soon (eventually is there a point where you don't get any population increase, right?...that's at least 12k or so though if at all...and now the wonders are motivation to go higher.). I'm currently saving up for the 8k jump, I don't see myself stopping anytime soon!
  16. Okay, thanks for the responses. It sounds like no one is doing exactly what I was mentioning, although Syzygy is basically doing the same thing (except going from a lot to 20% instead of 20% to 0). (although Conan said he might do it) I probably won't bother since it is such a small amount (increases daily profit just a fraction of a percent). And what concerns me most is that if I screwed up once and accidentally collected while in anarchy, I would probably never make up that loss even with a lifetime of exercising this strategy. If it's done perfectly, it seems like it would help that tiny bit though...just probably not worth the effort or risks.
  17. It costs only $4.80 to buy each soldier, and I pay a daily bill of $2 for each. (I know this changes slightly based on modifiers, but the same idea would apply for everyone). I was thinking about selling off all of my soldiers while I pay bills (for say 15 days). If I have about 10,000 soldiers, this would save me $20,000 in bills per day x 15 days = $300,000. It would cost me $48,000 to buy them back again before collecting taxes. This equates to over $250,000 in profit. What's obvious to me is that this would clearly put me in anarchy during this time. What's less obvious is what that really means. Can someone educate me as to the effects of anarchy, beyond the happiness penalty? Does it increase the cost of any of your bills, or disallow you from anything like buying improvements or aiding? Clearly, this would not be a wise move if you are expecting to be attacked. But in times of peace, and backed by a powerful alliance, the only major downside I see would be any effects of anarchy. Has anyone tried this strategy?
  18. The previous discussion was an interesting one, but it still leaves a couple questions in my mind. First, I don't think that anyone can really determine what the probability is, because the only people that post tend to be on a far end of the spectrum (either "My nation has been around since 1962, and I still don't have an event!", or "I just got 300 events, today!"...and yes, I'm obviously exaggerating). Don't get me wrong, I don't disagree with your premise that a true 10% probability is virtually proven to be incorrect. It just seems that no one will be able to get a great idea of what the probability really is, based on posters in these threads (especially since it may very well not be truly random, but rather weighted based on some unknown factors). Now, more importantly, it seems that no one has answered my original question...are more events good or bad? I don't care as much about how likely they are to occur, if I don't know if a high probability is a positive or negative thing for my nation. I'm guessing by the lack of an answer that no one has yet determined this.
  19. Has anyone determined the likelihood of an event, and the likelihood of the event being positive vs. negative? I believe they are randomly generated at every tax collection, so I'm wondering what the consequence of collecting taxes more or less frequently are.
  20. If you don't check us out, Santa will put you on his Naughty list
  21. First, I would buy the last clinic before the Police HQ. W/ 30000 citizens, it will roughly give you a population boost of about 500 citizens...in other words, you're halfway to your next improvement already. @Seerow: Here's the flaw in your logic...you don't take into account the purchase 30 days later. i.e., if you buy the SM now, you will have to buy the more expensive SSS then. So there's no reason you have to "earn that 10million MORE than Stock Market, within 30 days"
  22. Hmm...Interesting analysis, BFG. I ran the numbers for myself when I was ready for my first wonder, and the SSS was MUCH better than the SM, so I've been asuming it must be the case for everyone, and encouraging everyone in this direction. I think it would be a rare case when someone who is properly managing their nation is ready for a wonder when their citizens are only making $290/day. However, I had forgotten the issue of the cost of the wonders, and the time wasted saving up. This is actually quite important, since you can only buy one every 30 days. I think you raise a valid point that the SM may be better for those that do not have the money saved up (in my case, the purchase money happened to not be much of a factor). I guess I'll have to soften my stance on this issue. US of Europe, one problem I see with your analysis is that you seem to base it off of the Break Even Point...but really this is irrelevent. Assuming you will buy the other one in 30 days, all that really matters is which will be more profitable for those 30 days. I think this will almost always be the SSS (unless your citizens make less than $290/day), but the great equalizer is how much cash you have on hand, as BFG mentioned. If you have to delay the purchase, it has a snowball effect every 30 days as each wonder has to be delayed. My conclusion: if you have the money on hand, or can get it easily, I still believe the SSS to be much better to get first for almost everyone. However, if you would have to substantially delay the purchase to save up, the Stock Market probably is better.
  23. Welcome to TTK, budwalker! Given your criteria for an alliance, you have chosen for wisely!
