In this time when new alliances effervescently spawn with shocking rapidity, I find it a prudent time to announce this declaration of existence of the You Are All Idiots™ alliance. We are currently lacking a flag, but I promise that it will be as flashy and/or professional a flag as can be found in other the other fine alliances that populate this world. People still don't seem to realize that, in the long run, people forget about the "why" and only remember the "what." FAN was pretty much the butt of almost all jokes for a good couple of months after NPO resumed hostilities, yet they were hailed as they returned into the political arena. There was a huge amount of animosity toward ES's not-forced forced disbandment, and yet ElectronSponge has a huge cult of personality surrounding him. Now let's predict what will happen if NPO is kept in eternal war: NPO will most likely be the butt of almost all jokes for a good couple of months, and a huge animosity toward Moo's not-forced forced disbandment of several alliances. See where this goes? The great victory over the horrible NPO will only be remembered as such until someone with a political goal and a mind for propaganda comes along and spins you as the horrible monster. "But AbysmalPea!" you exclaim. "The NPO deserves eternal war or disbandment for all its horrible deeds!" Yes, but so did FAN. So did LUE. So did GOONS. So did \m/. The NPO wouldn't have survived for years if other alliances find this as acceptable behavior. And yet, all of these alliances are seen through only rose-tinted glasses. I still don't see how those presenting these terms can be so stupid as to not see the long-term ramifications. The NPO will be the least of their worries six months down the line.

History is always written by those with a self-serving agenda. Happiness, peace, and prosperity only last as long as it takes for a man with a political mind and a desire for power to join up and start wreaking havoc. And NPO is already getting pity points. Most Karma alliances certainly aren't handing out any, but those previously allied to the NPO continue to sympathize.

The people who thought of these terms are stupid if they don't see the long-term political implications. You're pretty much guaranteeing pity points for NPO and alienating everyone who doesn't agree with you, all because NPO "deserves" punishment. "Deserves" is a dangerous word in the pragmatic world of politics, because when people look for the next alliance to bring to the chopping block, people don't remember why you did things; they only remember what you did. Holy !@#$ this is the best fakepost ever.

I like how the first Red Cross thread was full of praise and support and this one is basically full of goons. No, seriously, it was a nice change.

So basically what I'm getting out of this thread is that there were small alliances on red and now there's a bit more small alliances on red. Somehow this translates into breaking down the Iron Curtain even though it's more like a couple refugees hopping over the wall in places where the barbed wire hasn't been maintained.

Mistakes? What are those? The mistake I learned from is not realizing how expensive nuclear war is.

The problem with this is that many people actually are calling for some of these things to happen. I'll pull up a couple of posts myself if you can't find any examples.

The point of the justice system is rehabilitation and removal of unsavory elements in society, not vengeance. I have no qualms with Karma alliances removing their unsavory element, the NPO, from power. However, whether this war is just vengeance or karmic fate remains to be determined. After all, no surrender terms have been accepted as of yet.

But they're more powerful so they can do that.
