1. They had been trekking through the dense foliage and jungle for days on end, and though they had brought rations with them they hadn't packed enough. The rainstorm that came on the second day, flooded the region and washed away the signage pointing the way back to Caracas, so the expedition team was lost. Dr. Erik Selvig, Darcy Lewis and Jane Foster has come into the jungle searching for ruins of a rumored lost Norse settlement dating back over a thousand years. Though they had discovered more rain than any of them had thought imaginable, even as it continued to pour down. "I am sick of this rain! Jane said as she followed Erik through yet more underbrush, hacking and slashing as she went. They all carried machetes to help make the travel somewhat more manageable. "Yes, we know. That is about the fourth time you've said it in the last half hour" Erik replied, turning his head back to smirk. Selvig was not generally accustomed to long field expeditions. In his youth, it was all he knew, but now his work was mostly academic. They continued on further for perhaps another hour and a half, and then something peculiar happened. All throughout the day, the sky had been covered with dark clouds, and overcast. As they ventured out into a clearing, not only did they discover that the sky had suddenly cleared up, but that they stood in a clearing. In the clearing, perhaps a good mile in all directions though they could not be sure, stood a giant white stone citadel. Gleaming in the new found sunlight, a ridge separated the citadel on all sides, as if it were a moat. The group stood in awe of thew sight, and Erik dropped his machete in disbelief. "This is it! It has to be!" He exclaimed. "These ruins must be ancient. More than a thousand years old. How could something like this not be discovered?!" Jane said, not believing her eyes. The group moved closer towards the edge of the ridge, and looked down. Below it was, and they knew it was impossible, but it appeared as clouds. As if the very sky above stood beneath them all on the ridge. Erik took a stone and tossed it into the chasm and it fell, and fell and fell until he lost sight of it. "I see no way across..." Darcy said disappointed. The group walked toward a set of stone steps at the end of which, was a rainbow stretching to the other side of the ridge, and another set of steps leading towards the entrance of the citadel. Almost as if it were a bridge to heaven. "I'm feeling lucky today..." Erik said to himself. He picked up another stone and tossed it into the air and it landed solidly on the bridge with a loud clatter. Amazed, the group slowly took their steps lightly onto the rainbow bridge itself, not believing their eyes once more. They walked slowly and deliberately across the bridge, and as they reached the other side, they met a man in golden armor whom they did not notice before. He barred their entrance into the citadel, speaking with a booming voice as if it were all around them. "HALT! I AM HEIMDALLR, GATEKEEPER AND MESSENGER OF THE GODS! WHO TREADS UPON THE BIFROST AND ENTERS THE CITY OF ASGARD?" Looking towards each other in stunned surprise, it was Erik who knew precisely who this man was. In his youth his mother once told him tales of the ancient gods and goddesses in Norse Mythology. One of them, this Heimdallr, was among those he was familiar with. He figured he ought to play along, and show the proper respect owed to a God. "Great Heimdallr, we are humans, and we are explorers. We have come to seek knowledge from this city and hope to share it with others. Will you allow us to pass?" Erik said, bowing and urging the others to bow as well. Heimdallr passed his stern gaze upon them and laughed heartily. "YOU MAY PASS, BUT TREAD LIGHTLY! THE GODS HAVE NOT BEEN VISITED IN MANY GENERATIONS! THEY HAVE GROWN...BORED..." Heimdallr said and he stood aside to let the group enter. As they made their way through the city, they noticed that humans actually lived among them inside the city itself. Though Erik doubted they were actually humans, and not the souls of ancient norseman from long ago, he still marveled at the similarities between medieval europe and the citadel's agricultural and artisan like culture. They were not a destitute people, but rather a proud and cultured citizenry capable of crafting fine armor, weapons, tools and clothing. They reached the doors of a large hall, and as the group walked through they all were shocked to see the sight inside. Dancing, drinking, and merriment of all sorts were taking place at nearly a dozen tables. At these tables were figures Erik knew were from his stories and others were among those he could not readily placed. A one eyed, aged bear of a "man" sat atop a golden throne at the end of the room, peering at the group as they entered. Another man to the groups right was sitting atop a statue of a hammer-wielding man, jauntily, wearing a crooked grin upon his face. His head was adorned by a helmet with two long looping horns and a staff was held in his hand. Surely, the statue was of Thor and the man was his step-brother, Loki. A hearty laugh from the other side of the room displayed the real Thor as he had handily beat another god in a challenge of strength and courage. He noticed the group immediately, and leapt upon the tables, and came to meet them. "WELCOME, SONS OF MIDGARD! WE HAVE NOT HAVE TRAVELERS IN MANY TIMES! YOU MUST ENTERTAIN YOUR GODS WITH TALES OF BATTLE AND GLORY. COME, DRINK!" The group paused and looked at one another in disbelief. They expected entertainment? As all powerful beings, they needed, nay, craved, human entertainment? That was something the group certainly lacked. They knelt before the God Thor, and spoke carefully. "Forgive us, mighty Thor," Selvig said. "We do not have stories to share and we must depart soon. We have come to learn of your existence and we must share it with our elders, so that others may come and share these stories with you. To honor you"" Erik finished. Thor frowned, and paused for a moment. Turning away, his fist clenched. "YOU WILL RETURN TO YOUR ELDERS! YOU WILL SEND OTHERS, OTHERS WITH TALES TO ENTERTAIN US!." The man atop the golden throne stood quietly during this, and approached. "WE WILL TRANSPORT YOU TO YOUR HOME. WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THOSE SUCH AS YOURSELVES TO AWAKEN US TO MIDGARD'S READINESS TO KNOW OF OUR EXISTENCE. NOW, GO!" The group was wisked away in a flash of light back to the airport and their research outpost on the outskirts of the jungle. They arrived in a daze, and made a hasty report to the expedition's funders and university dean. Disbelieving, they were soon believers as the booming voice of Thor resonated, seemingly all over the globe at once. All of Midgard heard the voice in the sky, as it spoke. "COME TO ME, CITIZENS OF MIDGARD! ENTERTAIN US WITH STORIES OF GLORY AND WISDOM! WE WILL SHARE WITH YOU OUR WISDOM AND INVITE YOU TO LIVE AMONGST THE GODS IN VALHALLA. BUT BE WARNED; WE WILL NOT SHARE OUR POWERS WITH LESSER BEINGS, NOR BE INVOLVED IN YOUR PETTY CONFLICTS. WE AWAIT YOUR FELLOWSHIP!"
2. Zoot has given me Venezuela. Please label it as Asgard. Thanks!
3. Venezuela would be awesome, if you'll part with it. I'd like to name it Asgard. Thanks!
4. Anyone willing to give up land, please pm me. I've asked a few people and they've not deemed it appropriate to reply to me.
5.
In your own made-up world, with no history, there is no such thing as WW1, WW2, etc.
K

7.
Idea: Because it's a small playerbase, start fresh with only basic rules. No tech scale, nothing. Just a map and the simple rules of "don't be a dick" and "have fun".
I would rather have a tec hscale, since it adds a certain degree of constraint and realism to the game.
8. 9. You can't prevent landgrabs now. I don't control other people. Hence, the ignorecannon.
10.
does this mean you don't want land anymore?
I'd still like to participate in CNRP, yes. But since nobody seemed intent on replying. I figured I'd try this out.
I hereby claim the whole map in the name of the Kingdom of Narnia. A light blue shall work splendidly
Is it too much to ask for people to take this seriously?
11. I chose that tech scale after reading the posts in the corresponding thread made by Kaiser Martens. I decided his argument made sense and while I have not been around long in CNRP, I wanted to avoid complicated technology arguments from arising in CNRP W2. Also, I realize that the players well established in CNRP have no incentive to RP in World 2, which is why it's not specifically aimed at them. It's aimed for new and smaller players, though veteran CNRP players are encouraged to participate if they desire to.
12. CNRP World 2 Map Last Updated: 5/13/2012 Click Thumbnail For Full Map General World 2 Rules and Map Guidelines If you would like a plot added, please edit the above map, and paste the link to the updated map in your claim post. - Unclaimed land may not be kept or claimed as a protectorate; all land not currently open is reserved for legitimate RP, or new players. -If you want to claim an area already claimed, you have to work something out with the current owner. This means you cannot start a rebellion in their territory, a terrorist group, etc. without their permission. -There are three ways to gain land in CNRP: 1) Claiming it through your initial CNRP W2 Roleplaying Story. 2) Being given land through an RP, in an IC manner. [OOC Gifting is FORBIDDEN]. 3) Winning land through war. - Take your in-game working citizen count (not total population/supporters) and multiply it by 0.80. This number is your maximum in-game soldier count. Multiply this number by 10.0 and this number will be your maximum CNRP soldier count. Tanks are directly equal to what your maximum is in-game. For example: If I have 10,000 citizens in-game, then I have 80,000 soldiers in RP. - You may use whatever citizen count you wish for your CNRP nation - but within reason. - Your in-game tech (technology) level is directly used in CNRP. See below for technology guidelines. - Your in-game navy is directly used in CNRP. Meaning, whatever you have IG = whatever you have in RP. The sole exception applies to submarines. The current submarine multiplier rule when converting from IG to IC fleets is as follows: 0-4,000 Infra, 0-500 tech: No multiplier 4,001-5,000 Infra, 501-1,000 tech: x2 5,001-6,000 Infra, 1,001-2,000 tech: x3 6,001-7,500 Infra, 2,001-3,500: x4 7,501-Infinity Infra, 3,501-Infinity: x5 If you're in different brackets for tech and infra, go with the lower one. - Planes are equal to maximum number capable of having in-game. - Nations may use each of their planes as a squadron, each squadron has a cap of twelve planes per squadron. Such 12-plane squadrons are equal to maximum number capable of having in-game. - The amount of nukes (warheads) you have is equal to your in game level of warheads. Everyone with standard nukes has fission bombs (max 500kt). Weapons research complexes give you hydrogen bombs (With an absolute maximum yield of 20 Mtons), and neutron weapons. This decision was reached by consulting with the GMs and at their urging. - Also, large Fuel air explosive bombs, chemical weapons, large EMP weapons, and biological weapons are capped at 50 and equal to the number of CMs you have in game. - You cannot arm your citizens and have them fight a war. It does not matter if you give them full time military training and automatic weapon, the maximum number of armed people you can field in a war is determined by your soldier count. These rules only apply if two combatants (or more) do not agree to change them. If I declare war on Uberstein and we both agree that he can use nuclear weapons on me then as long as we are the only two in the war he is allowed to use nuclear weapons. - Whenever you say something that is not "in character", use the 'OOC:' tag before the statement. For example, if Uberstein decides to hold a gladiator tournament, we may insult the action in-game but then add "OOC: haha, nice" to show that we (in real life, not in game) like the idea. - If something is to be a private message, put "PRIVATE MESSAGE TO <nation name here>" before the message. While the rest of the community will be able to see the message, only the person you send it to will be able to respond or use that information. There are also other options, like *CLASSIFIED* or whatever else you feel like you need to put. Remember, if it isn't clearly labeled or RP'd as private it may be used against you. - Any treaty (MDP, ODP, economic, NAP, etc.) can be made in CNRP with another nation. For instance, if you sign a Mutual Defense Pact (MDP) with Uberstein, whenever you are attacked in CNRP, Uberstein will activate the MDP and attack whoever attacked you. Treaties can be broken. - Economic treaties are treaties where you trade with another nation (Be it food, technology, medicine), and both nations are to be treated as if they have the same level of whatever they're trading. This is usually called tech trading, see the tech trading rules below. 13. Hello! I'm Tibus and while some of you might not remember me, I used to play CNRP back a month or two ago. I used to inhabit Sri Lanka. Unfortunately I lost my plot of land because I got busy with work and could not remain active. Anyhow, after coming back, I've noticed that there are actually quite a few spaces of land that are open, but are under the protection of other nations. Not only this, but almost all of the land itself is taken up by longstanding (I'm assuming) players of CNRP. Most are definitely willing to give up small portions of land to new players, however key regions such as France, Germany and Norway would be out of the question, since most of these areas are "core" lands belonging to the individual players. This brings me to the idea I have now. A new, optional CNRP for new and older players alike with some new tech and land rules. The rules of CNRP World 2 are the same as regular CNRP, with a couple of exceptions: 1) The technology scale will be from Kankou's suggestion in another thread: 0~49.99: World War 1 (~1936) 50~249.99: World War 2 (1936~1945) 250~499.99: Korean War (1945~1955) 500~999.99: Vietnam War (1955~1970) 1000~1499.99: Revolutionary Era (1970~1980) 1500~2999.99: Gulf War (1980~1995) 3000~4999.99: Modern (1995~Current) 5000~: Future (Current~15 years from current) 2) Land that is not inhabited by a player, cannot be controlled or protected by another player. "Landgrabs" are forbidden, so as to prevent the decline in open plots of land for newcomers. There will also be a non earth map to spice things up, and create a sense of uniqueness to CNRP World 2. Anyone wishing to sign up can do so in the thread I will create in the Fantasy (IC) forum. Let me know if you have any questions. I understand you might not agree with this move, or in fact you might support it. Either way, try to keep the trolling and bashing of my idea to a minimum, and simply don't contribute or play in World 2 if you don't support the idea. Thanks in advance!
14. Malatose, I am not sure if you're getting my PM's. Let me know if you've received them. Thanks!
