It's a mutual defense pact between the two alliances involved. Not between the whole side that your treaty partner is fighting on. You will help your ally by fighting the alliance that is attacking them. What goes on in the other corner of the universe has really nothing to do with the treaty you have signed. Talking about being undermined five or six steps away from the conflict you're treaty bound to is more philosophical than practical.

I really can't agree with that. Back then there was a lot of things to doodle with that aren't here anymore. There were more inter alliance work to be done, especially in the economic sense. Aid chains, tech middle men (wtf?), etc, etc. Just more things to bind the community together. It's not there anymore unless you have an ungodly amount of hours to spend on IRC.

That's quite an interesting read. Just comparing how different the game was from late 2007 to early 2009 is hard to do. I was expecting to come back to the same deal but ended up having to relearn everything I knew about CN.

Yeah, might not have been the most thought through thing I've done. If I'd known it would stir up bad blood I would definitely have picked a better venue. I felt I could come out and say it since it changes nothing of my opinion of NpO nor what I'd do to help them.

Depends on how you look at it. I have no problem speaking my mind, I have no problem taking crap. I'm not going to pretend I approve of something I don't. That's not how you retain friends. You disagree over things now and then, that's just the way it is. Does it change the commitment? Not at all. I stand by my words. I don't think it was very classy to first taunt TPF to try and bait them to declare so Polaris could get in on the action. In the end I believe they're trying to show that permafrost is stronger than ever. I don't think that doing that by this round about way is the way to do it. It would have been much classier to just come out and say it. Don't beat around the bush and try to make excuses for something that is in and of itself admirable.

After NpO baiting TPF in their DoW on NSO thread about not declaring on us and then when DOOM declares on NSO they decide to jump in. In my eyes it's not very classy.

As I stated in another thread. I'm a little disappointed with this declaration. It would have been far better for NpO to stay completely out of the war.

I have to agree with you here. It does irk me a bit as well when they are manipulated. I'm a little disappointed in their decision. For as long as they've stayed out of the war and with everything that has happened I see no difference in their declaration on DOOM and times they have not declared. I still love Polaris, I just wish they would have been wiser in this.
