  1. Having spies for defense is like having fighters for defense. It's just plain smart.
  2. I added an option to hopefully keep people from messing up the results any further.
  3. -.- You're only supposed to vote if you DID get an event.
  4. This has been bugging me for a while. I think that this might have some effect on the event % rate and hopefully we can find out something useful from this poll. I myself had not had an event for many months and I got one the day after buying a Great Monument (which automatically makes your desired government whatever you selected), and I've heard many similar stories too, so let's get some data on this.
  5. Your raccoon is adorable.

  6. Just out of curiosity, was your government set as desired when these happened?
  7. Doomsday + shadow absorb ftw.

  8. Update- first collection with Great Monument (made my gov desirable), and I got an event. Interesting to note that a few weeks ago a friend had also reported getting an event for the first time in months after collecting under desired gov as well. Conspiracy?
  9. That's not how it works when you're looking at the probability of an event not occurring multiple times.
  10. There's a theory that desired government affects event rates and that makes sense since most people always use Monarchy. I just got a Great Monument so after a week or two hopefully I'll see some results. I haven't had an event in multiple months but I rarely collected with desired.
  11. Missed it? :S

If it's a chess game, I usually don't check redhotpawn unless I know there's a game awaiting me.

  12. Replace Cattle with Wheat and you will make even more money per day. Also, set government to Monarchy.
  13. Lol, I just realized I live ~2-3 hours away from you. PA ftw.

  14. I'm curious, did you guys ever look to see if desired government has any effect on event probability?

  15. 39,257.054 (289 days old) which gives me an efficiency of 135.84 I aided out ~40 mil, but I try to make sure I have a donation lined up every month and I'm a decent nation builder so that didn't really hurt me. Proper use of resources and collections ftw.
  16. No. Either get (My recommendation): Aluminum Cattle Fish Gold Iron Lumber Marble Pigs Spices Sugar Wheat Water Or get (secondary option): Aluminum Cattle Coal Fish Gold Iron Lumber Marble Oil Rubber Wheat Water If you plan on having a full nuclear stockpile, 2 will be a bit easier to work with when you're ready for Uranium. However, as they stand, 1 is a bit better.
  17. Iron + Lumber? Lucky !@#$%^&. 3BR set with Gems, or if you want to go nuclear, Uranium.
  18. This is correct, there is a 15k infra jump, but no one will go to it. Why? Because around 13k (or slightly lower if you have nukes), buying infra will no longer return a profit as the upkeep cost will exceed the benefit in income. Therefore, to get to 15k, you'd have to trash your economy pretty badly.
  19. Listen to this man. He speaks pure, unadulterated truth, something you don't see very often these days.
  20. Love the chess quote in your sig. That's just awesome.

  21. You didn't read a damn word I said, did you? I'm not advocating the 5BR set because it's "easy" to get, I said he should get it because it's the best set for his individual nation. Starting with Oil and Gold automatically dictates that he shouldn't get the 3BR set because there are 10 needed resources for it, and he doesn't have 1 of them as a starting resource. For him to get it, he'd have to give up both Gems and Fish, which is a huge hit to the set. He'd actually get a higher population bonus from the 5BR set than the 3BR set because of this. As a general rule of thumb, if you start with Coal, Oil, or Rubber, and your second resource is NOT a required resource for the 3BR set, 5BR is usually the way to go.
  22. Going to challenge me anytime soon? :P

  23. c-c-c-c-c COMBO BREAKER! (sorry Kenadian :P)

VG, you automatically win "Best Christmas Avatar Ever."

  24. If you're having a hard time selling tech because of a lack of buyers, perhaps you should lower the price a bit then. I know I personally would be more inclined to buy a lot of tech if it was cheaper than what it usually costs. The less it costs, the more demand there will be to buy it. You need to find that equilibrium point that maximizes profit by balancing your supply with the current demand.
  25. OP, one thing you need to consider is that depending on your starting resources, each person's best resource set may be different. The 3 BR set is the best one, and unfortunately, the golden rule of CN trading is as follows: Your starting resources, Oil / Gold, automatically put you into the 5 BR category for best setup. It's not quite as good as 3 BR, but close enough to work well. Keep in mind it only makes you money if you buy lots of infra, however, because it's infra price and upkeep reduction heavy. Your optimal set includes: Aluminum | Cattle | Coal | Fish | Gold | Iron | Lumber | Marble | Oil | Rubber | Water | Wheat This set will give you Steel, Automobiles, Beer, Construction, and Asphalt. I've been doing trades for quite a while (which earned me the nickname of "the Trade Guildmaster" during my time in LoSS) so you can trust me with this assessment, however, if you'd rather do the math, feel free, but you should come up with this same set eventually. Never underestimate the power of population bonuses. Although having tons of bonus resources looks nice, realize that the resources required to get them are far inferior to the ones required for other sets. 3BR > 5BR > 8BR
