  1. If you plan on getting more infrastructure, then get the Interstate Also I think that getting the Pentagon was a pretty poor choice for being paranoid of war, I would have opted for an SDI, Manhattan Project or some other better wonder. In fact the only reason I can see that anyone would want to get a Pentagon would be for the Weapons Research Complex (I will get that next wonder cycle)
  2. Drug Policy and Immigration Policy affect the environment, set the drug one to military at border crossings and the immigration to closed borders to get the best affect
  3. Land is much less easily destroyable then infrastructure (only successful ground battles and nukes can touch it) and it costs no upkeep, which can make it quite ideal in a war for money making when infrastructure is being destroyed wholesale
  4. I will also accept another one tomorrow as well.
  5. I will pay 3 million for 100 tech. Using one aid slot. PM me or post here if you want to do this deal
  6. The prospect of a full blown nuclear exchange frightens me. This time round environment actually has a real impact, and everyone without radiation cleanup would feel the burn
  7. I need a tech seller who is willing to receive 3 million and then give two installments of 50 tech over 30 days (from the time of accepting the money) Edit: I will also accept one more person tomorrow Anyone up for it?
  8. The problem with both these improvements is that they really don't seem to add any real tactical depth, except perhaps by middle range nations who still lack improvement slots. In my case I would get the Naval Construction Yard when I need ships quickly and then scrap them afterwards, while the Academy I would simply buy and then forget about Now if these were wonders, then things would be drastically different, as you would have to balance them on the cost/benefit of getting another wonder
  9. In all honesty the guns vs butter dilemma seems to get considerably higher when nations get big. Wonders and Navies are where it most stands out. Right now my economic growth is slowed because I opt to purchase less economic wonders then what I could have, for example right now I'm planning to build a WRC, which is going to be a very expensive undertaking (at least in terms of what I could get if I decided on economic wonders instead). Navies are the same, building a full navy would help your nation considerably at wartime but is horrendously disastrous to economic growth. So yeah there is a strategy to preparing your nation for war that forgoes economic progress, and so hard choices do have to be made Interestingly a thing that I thought of a little while ago is the value of land, thanks to the Agricultural Development Program land can rake in a considerable income (still less then infrastructure in most circumstances though). But another thing that makes it valuable is the fact that it generates income and is less vulnerable to being destroyed in war. In conventional war cruise missiles, ground attacks (both successful and defeat alerts) and air attacks can destroy infrastructure whereas land is immune to being destroyed by those means. So in a conventional war successful ground attacks (even defeat alerts don't destroy your land) are the only way your land can be touched (in nuclear war investment in land is not quite as valuable due to nuclear anarchy and the land destruction of nukes). So war preparation might see some nations going for a land based economy instead of an infrastructure based economy
  10. I think it is only when you have two nations login on the same network multiple times within a short time frame that you risk deletion. Once or twice logging in on the same network while having large time periods apart will simply set it so that those nations can't interact with each other ever again. At least that's how I understand it
  11. What does the description Actual Military * .02 mean? Does that mean all your real (not efficiency based) soldiers*0.02?
  12. I would really like to see a guide myself, but I can wait. I am in no hurry to arm myself with expensive toys, at least not at the moment anyway
  13. Perhaps the address you are on has been used by that nation you were aiding before? Is it a friend of yours you invited over to log on? Remember any contact on the same network even once permanently registers and is never removed
  14. Uranium reduces the cost for all ships 5%, in the description it says this is for subs and carriers so it looks like a bug
  15. Maybe you received a penalty for not paying your bills for a while?
  16. It seems that getting carriers, frigates, and submarines in peacetime is the best way to go while others could be bought at wartime. I worked out that it could cost nearly two million in daily upkeep if I put my navy up to it's full potential. Not a pretty figure, it certainly puts the guns vs butter dilemma in starker contrast
  17. That is exactly what we need. Problems. Diplomatic problems to keep this game exciting. Just imagine what would happen if a big alliance could have their allies trade disrupted by blockading a trade partner alliance. There would be an incentive for even small alliances to get their trades in as many alliances as possible to increase the chances of trade disruption if they were attacked
  18. After purchasing a National Research Lab I think that I will buy a navy. And carriers are going to be my first ships, because they are awesome
  19. Calculate the worth of the things you lost in the battle, land soldiers, infrastructure, tech* and then maybe add a little extra because when you lose those things the price decreases *For larger nations this could be repaid directly in tech, as monetary amounts take up aid slots and slow tech advancement
  20. WRC. No contest (as long as your tech level is high), can't think of anything better in war then extra tech damage and buying more nukes
